I have the brushed version the HBX 16889, takes an absolute beating. 70 pounds here, I got it for 50 on sale. Love it.
found GPtoys version dressed as an ATV quad 20 bucks free shipping.
its a 390 powered little basher, plenty of fun.
I managed to snag a never run DT02 for 50 on gumtree, and a never run XB DT03 for 45 on ebay. Always worth checking the "used" market for a hobby where so many people don't even run their cars.

yup, found one eBay a while back, near roller for 40 bucks 10 bucks shipping, needed some gears and a couple tidbits but still a nice deal.

I know I'm a little late to chime in on this but the HBX 16889 should have been your number 1. Throw some buggy tires on it and a 3s battery... this thing wakes right up. The servo is lightning fast and like you said..NOTHING BREAKS! If they would just translate this to 1/10th scale we would be giving the big boys a run for their money. Big win for anyone who buys this little beast! GREAT VIDEO, my man! You are indeed the Martin Scorsese of RC car videos.

Prime Day has deals on HBX, picked up the 16889 for $70, the brushless is on sale too for $85 but I wanted to build mine myself, so I'll upgrade it little by little.

Bit new to this hobby, I have an FTX Ravine. Love it. But I couldn’t help but notice the MCM poster in the background. Fellow fan. 🤘
A warning, the FY-03H comes both brushed and brushless with the same H designation. Be careful which one you order. The price, obviously, is the tell. Go right for the brushless one and be done with it.

That Feiyue FY03H brushless seems to have different tires to the brushed version. They're fatter for a start. But I love the long travel suspension style of the desert racer/buggy type machines.

Once again an awesome video,I love the budget rc cars. I would like to get another traxxas or my first arrma but for the price of one of those I could get 2 or 3 of the ones on your list and have just as much fun plus if a friend wants to drive one I won't freak out when he crashes into a curb,which he did and broke a front a arm,but the replacement was $7. Looks like I have to add another car or two to my "must have" list. Thank you again for entertaining and informing. Stay safe
its always nice to have a couple good cheap bashers along for a newbie to play with, same for a good cheap crawler that you don't have to worry about other than telling them "if the wheels are STUCK don't push it". Redcat/Danchee "Trail Hunter" is good, their "Ravine" even better.

HBX has some incredible durability and value. Performance isn't amazing but on par with wltoys or the likes.

Recent owner of the 16889 and love it! Already looking to step up to something under £200, there not many vids on the £100-200 bracket

I love the fy03. Got the brushed one. Stable and easy to work on. Upgrades are extremely cheap. Just wanted to start the hobby with that car, but at the moment I sticking with it, because it is so cool. I ‚ll go on and put some more upgrades in to it.
Do you know a bigger brushed motor that will easily fit??

144001 is a nice fast little rc car BUT the differentials have gears from butter..with my personal driving style stripped them twice (were greased) having less than 5 batteries and sold it.. next station will be the 16889a pro (the upgraded).

Really nice video, great editing! I really like how cheap it is to get in to the hobby these days. Def agree that 144001 is the best option, personally I prefer the HBX 16889 over the S-Max. Better handling and overall feel to it IMO

May i ask a technical question, regarding the remo hoby smax and hbx 16889 has the same ground clearance? I feel the remo hobby is much lower than the other competitors, or i am wrong?

Hi, nice video. I have a Maverick Quantum XT Flux myself, but I choose just under 99 for my son. HBX 16889 came out to me the best so far. You could compare the pros and cons among other monsters in your TOP10. Thanks from the Czech Republic

Great video, I want to buy one for my kids (6&8) to use, they all seem so rapid nowadays anything you would suggest that is sub £100, very hard wearing and bit slower so they can control?

number 10 is also sold as the ftx tracer (monster truck version) but its brushed although you can upgrade it to brushless with the motor listed in the parts list

The Feyiue is better quality than the 12428, so chose to include that instead. But the 12428 is still a worthy truck!

I was trying to buy one of these for my dad (Neither of us know anything about the hobby). is there a particular type of these that have a long lasting battery? I think most of these only go to up to 20 mins right?

This is like a shopping list. I have 2 WLToys 14001's, i have a SG 1604 on the way.... HS 18311 is now certainly on the lit to get.
I tempted to get a brushless, i think a basher, so Xinlehong Q901 or HBX 16889 .... Choices choices...

I’ve had a few orders that are taking their time, and shipping prices have gone up or are lot available for the UK. Hopefully things will settle soon

124019 is not under $99 yet... hopefully the price will come down. Took a while to put them in some kind of order... I think it’s about right. The 144 was always going to be number 1 in this list. Although the SG’s were very close!

@@mehimrc1314 Yeah, I’m trying to pull in more Subs from the UK with the CML stuff (CEN, Corally & FTX etc...), but still around 35% of my views are from across the pond.

Hands down Q903 brushless, is the most bang for the buck..ive got almost all of the under 100s. I saved n got the Big Rock!! Worth every penny💪🏻😎

I've been thinking about that number 10 Hbx for my after school project for its overall usage, in all conditions and performance. I also need a catchy name for the group but creative isn't my forte 🤣. I recognise that 18311 as well 🤪. I have the Xinlehong brushed 9136 which is the little brother of the q series and what started me off finding channels like yours. I got it for a ridiculously low £35 off banggood. Will also check that s max, seems I've missed that ! Gotta love all these budget RC's, brill video as always Phil, think you deserve another cuppa from me after this. Was hoping to see a controversial number 1 but no chance 🤣🤣🤣

I have the hbx 16889 and love it, but while looking for upgrade parts i kept getting aluminum frame/suspension upgrades for the wltoy 959,949,ect buggys... will these parts work?
