Very interesting. Been to the Fargo Costco a 1,000 times if I have been there once and never saw octopus on the shelf. The price difference is eye opening but I imagine the shipping is a huge expense.

Cool video! Your conversion is slightly off though making Iceland look little worse than it actually is. Like the mini donuts are $8.60, not $10. Also in Iceland the sales tax is included while here in the States you need to add 2-9% on top of displayed prices! I hope you tried the real Icelandic hot dog downtown because the Costco version is not it! :)

I already know a lot about american multichains thanks to twitter but these overlarge sizes from starbucks to costco doesnt make any sense and arnt even found in europe , australia etc. so its kinda weird seeing a random 10kg of peanut butter in a bucket like who would buy that.

Interesting comparison, and your family is awesome :) I think you're right about import being a huge chunk of the price difference and another one is simply higher wages in general. That said, does Costco in North Dakota show prices with sales tax? Most "necessities" here, like food, carry 11% VAT. Most other things have 24% VAT and VAT is always in the price displayed in the store. Just thought you might want to know :)
Also, I hope you found the condiments bar next to the food court. I noticed you ordered "eina með öllu" (nice job on the Icelandic btw!) but they don't add condiments on the hot dogs for you haha.
Thanks for the comment 😁 I didn’t know the details about VAT. I guess I never noticed! In the USA, sales tax is calculated at the checkout (and not listed on the display price). Usually around 7%.
Yes, eina með öllu, but no condiments 😂 it’s ok, the price is still so cheap, you can’t complain!
