Flawed as an individual so he can’t be king? So we are not basing things off of merit and judging the music and bars and metaphors and schemes and entendres and set ups and punch lines and flips and rebuttals or lyricism and clever writing in this beef bc we are convinced that Kendrick is a morally better person than Drake and the person at the top regardless of their talent cannot be there if you don’t like them as an individual?
That’s weird take but you’re not alone. I can’t remember the last time someone made a case against Trump for example specifically based on his policies but every millisecond 10,000 people attack his character but screw him I’m not trying to be his buddy and hang out with him on the weekends, I care about policy.
I don’t care if LeBron is it 💩y friend, I’m not trying to be his friend but he is skilled as a player so I would like him on the team roster that I’m a fan of.
I think it’s unfair to say that someone should not be at the spot they are at if they have gotten there based on their talent and hard work because you don’t like them as an individual. You can choose to not personally be involved in their life or not like them as a person I think we shouldn’t really care about any celebrities to be honest to actual art and work or performance because you don’t like them as a person is weird IMHO 🤷🏽‍♂️

Taking out the competitiveness between rappers and people in the "rap" business. For listeners (especially hip hop fans) we aren't hoping for Drake to fail. We just know deep down he can't be king (there was a narrative that was starting to gain legs that mere money, sales and popularity were enough). He is just too flawed an individual to lead the genre. He makes bangers and will continue to but now he's a participant within the genre rather than the king (and leader).
