14 years later: still nobody to touch his diverse taste and style of broadcasting, never has never will! He's currently broadening everyone's taste's in heaven I hope!

Phill Jupitus speaks with great eloquence and emotional sincerity here. It's moving to hear just how much John meant to people he truly touched, and Phill is only one of so, so many.

I remember John talking about the death of Roy Orbison and saying it had affected him more than the death of any other musician and it was as if someone had bricked up a window in his house. That's what it's like with John gone but I will always be thankful for the musical education he provided me with

Thank you so much for all your uploads. John was unique and I think his voice is still relevant today - we continue to discover through him - so to have someone truly dedicated to serving all this good content to us is totally amazing man, thank you.

So many memories and late nights spent 'together' thru my teenage bedroom years.
Wonder if the dire state of current pop music is because we no longer have a John Peel. There is only one. Still missed.

I think I remember him playing YELLOW Brick RD by Captain Beefheart in the 1980's. I tracked down all his albums therafter. This pull of music is rare now or maybe it's my age lol

I remember that. I probably recorded that late at night, the hand from under the duvet! Next day listen back to what had taken my interest the night before. Yes, still my fav Captain Beefheart song :) JP started so many musical journeys of discovery. :)

I would much rather hear a Scottish voice squealing at me on radio than Phil Jupitus talking utter wank!!!
