CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Meg Swan (Parker Posey) and Hamilton Swan (Michael Hitchcock) recall the moment they met, at two different Starbucks locations across the street from each other.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
After parodying the idiosyncrasies of community theater devotees in the mock documentary Waiting for Guffman, actor/director Christopher Guest returns with another semi-improvised comedy that casts a satirical gaze on the world of championship dog breeding and training. A television crew is on hand to document the prestigious Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show, and competition is fierce among the canine devotees vying for top honors. Salesman Gerry Fleck (Eugene Levy), who is cursed with two left feet (literally), and his wife Cookie (Catherine O'Hara) have entered their Norwich terrier "Winky" in competition. Wealthy and neurotic Meg Swan (Parker Posey) and her husband Hamilton (Michael Hitchcock) are on hand with their Weimaraner "Beatrice," who they fear may have been traumatized by watching them have sex. Scott Donlan (John Michael Higgins) and his life partner Stefan Vanderhoof (Michael McKean) have brought their beloved Shih Tzu, "Miss Agnes." Trophy wife Sherri Ann Cabot (Jennifer Coolidge) and her close friend and trainer Christy Cummings (Jane Lynch) are hoping for a repeat victory for Sheri's poodle, "Rhapsody In White." And Harlan Pepper (Guest), who operates a store specializing in fly-fishing gear, has decided to stack his bloodhound "Hubert" up against the competition. In addition to Guest, Levy, O'Hara, and Posey, several other veterans of the Waiting for Guffman cast also appear in Best in Show, including Fred Willard, Bob Balaban, and Lewis Arquette.

We are so lucky to have been raised amongst catalogues.
That line kills me every time. 🤣
Same, that was a great line. Lol
“Reading J Crew”!!!!!!!!😅
Sears Christmas Wish Book was incredible. Drooling over all those toys!
That, and "...what have you been saying?" 😂
The adult braces...it's the perfect finishing touch.
Such an underrated movie
agree ahahahahaha!!!! so good
Parker was already really cute but the braces made her 10x cuter.
fun fact: parker actually had braces put in because she wanted to correct her teeth...the dude had fake braces but they kept slipping and it gave him a lisp..which you can hear.
we are so lucky to have been raised amongst catalogues.
lol best line ever
i remember not finding this scene entertaining when i first saw this film....now this scene is hilarious....well done ;
This scene is everything. I have neighbors (both are attorneys) that don't have kids and just one dog. They act just like this, so great!
Jake Lane I feel like a lot of us know people who are represented in this movie. 🤣
@@daughterofolaf yes, I dated cookie googleman many years ago. You never forget the best.
@@daughterofolaf I feel a lot of us ARE represented in this movie, but we don't see it/admit it, because we (fortunately) have had a slightly milder verison of the latte that they had, so to speak.
@@DoubleDoubleWithOnions I think everyone dated Cookie Googleman.
Ouch!
If my anti-depressant isn't working, "Best In Show" does the trick.
Sometimes...
Sometimes but there's also MadTV Key&Peele
Oh I FELT this, haha 😄 ❤
The first time I saw this, I wasn't sure if it was actually a documentary, because the dead-pan was so goddam good. This cast is among the Monty Pythons of the world, that is basically HOF level, traveling SNL. Incredible humor and writing.
Parker Posey is a National Treasure
They're simultaneously adorable and insufferable as a couple
Because the acting is flawless. This is exactly what director wanted.
We realize that.
@@severetiredamage6754 you sure showed me how dare I comment on a video
They remind me of my aunt and uncle.
Well said. Her braces ? Lol yuppy preppy all in one .
I love seeing Parker -almost- break character by laughing, but then she incorporates it into the performance and follows it up with something completely hysterical. I was crying laughing at this scene when I first saw the movie
"My Orvis slippers?" lmao
Nothing makes me laugh more than watching people's manic idiosyncrasies. Christopher Guest knows how to make the audience laugh!!!! The small touches as well, consider the close-up and head tilt from Parkey Posey, with her mouth full of metal. Makes me laugh out loud. BRILLIANT!!!!
The braces were Parker and Michael's idea.
The thing is is that most of this was improvised! All the dialog, mannerisms, etc. Around a central theme and dialog but you can almost see it unfold behind you which is the brilliance of these actors putting this together. Had to be extremely satisfying for Chris to watch right in front of him
Michael Hitchcock was one of my teachers at The Groundlings. Great teacher and beautiful person.
Lucky you. I think he's very very talented.
Parker is perfection in every scenes
She says lactose intolerant like he has cancer. Fantastic.
I know, right?!😂😂😂
The sign of a well done scene-you completely forget these two are actors, you just accept them as real people
"We met at Starbucks... not the same Starbucks. We saw each other at different Starbucks from across the street from each other". That line is the best. Its so true how Starbucks have completely over saturated the country.
And that was 2000 that whole thing hadn’t even really developed yet
“We were so lucky to be raised amongst catalogues” is subtly hilarious to me.
That line can also be perfectly attributed to Dunkin Donuts here in the northeast. It's crazy how many Dunkins there are in a one-mile radius.
One of the BEST comedies of ALL time! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Parker Posey is awesome!!!, but not just Parker ~ the ENTIRE cast!
This movie was 20 years ahead of its time. People are still working on their Macs in Starbucks.
the sky was blue in that movie too. 20 years on, it still is! :O
so true brother. so true.
That was a running joke in the 1990s (late 90s into the early 2000s).
This was actually before Macs had their resurgence.
Her facial expressions at 1:46 get me every time lol
They totally nailed the way some married people act around strangers: like they have to impress when in reality they have a lot of trouble, but are afraid to leave.
Shhh🤭 let those types think we all can't read between the lines
I love that a grande espresso is sixteen shots of espresso, my guy was getting wired
"Or not..." The two words that are the key to happiness in our times... such as it is.
"We are so lucky to have been raised amongst catalogues....Oh it's so much easier, especially since you don't have to deal with people as much."
...These two were the original Amazon customers and now we're all like them.
They are the post covid-19 future.
01:20 "awh yeah... soy... yeah... mmmhmmm... you're lactose intolerant now!" I can't see screen through the tears! Too perfect!
Honestly I think these are my favorite characters in the movie. They’re in it less than the others but every time Hamilton and Meg are on screen it’s pure hilarity.
Parker Posey NEEDS to play Katharine Hepburn in a biopic one day. She’ll for sure win an Oscar for it.
“Working on my Mac” 😂
There is a corner in SF near Moscone Center that has a Starbucks and another one across the street. When I saw that, this scene came to mind. They were probably less than 100 feet from each other.
This movie is f#%king HILARIOUS 😂 And the missing plush bee 🤣
"It's in the crate!!!"
@@jakelane5567 "what are you a GENIUS? Some kind of a WIZARD?"
@@markjohnson4643 "Stop looking at all the fat asses and losers, you look at ME!!!!"
“Stupid hotel manager!”
One of my favorite of their bits in this movie was when they would argue with each other like they were dogs barking.
The LL Bean catalog 😆
Weird to remember that there was a time when it was absurd and funny that there’d be two Starbucks across the street from each other. Now it’s just a fact of life that there’s one on every corner.
Masterful improv.
This couple has become so much less outside the mainstream over these past 20 years 🤣🤣🤣
the braces were a brilliant touch
When I got my braces at 13 yo it hurt my mouth so bad I didn't speak for a year.
An actor getting braces for a role, and having to speak, doing re-rakes and voice exercises...man that is insane.
Actors who brag about putting on or looking weight for a role has nothing on these two legends.
If you're wondering, it feels like you have barbed wire under your lips.
You can hear them both struggling with the discomfort, and it just adds to the scene.
You can hear how
This movie had so many great scenes .
Fantastic improv on a single take. Their later scene at the hotel when they're selecting outfits is my fav!
Lol, two Starbucks across the street from each other. Lol so damn true.
love the interjection of "big ol'" before chai tea latte soy milk. it's the little things.
I love all the yuppie stereotypes. 🤣
"reading" J-Crew :)
omg jokes about starbucks in 2000. wow
0:59 oh wow, that laugh. 😆😆😆😆
These two are hilarious! They're both so stressed out!
These two are definitely some of the better characters they've ever created. I wonder what percentage of these movies is completely unscripted and improv.
+Christopher Johnson, All of them. Guest and Levy write an outline and a complete back story but the dialogue is all improvised by the actors. Guest will tell them in a particular scene that they must go from point A to point B or C but it's up to the actor to improve and make up the dialogue.
Easily one of the greatest most underrated shows of all time
"Working on my Mac" I know SO MANY horrific Apple people, just like this.
"my orvis slippers?"
hilarious and went completely over my head as a kid
This scene is brilliant
Smarmy...? Yup. Ms. Posey at 1:46. Classic 🤣
Love this movie !
Walking the dog on a treadmill, while also walking on a treadmill is such a look.
Here in Houston there used to be two Starbuckses across the street from one another at the River Oaks Shopping Center. Alas, that was pre-pandemic . . .
I was just thinking of this exact spot when I saw this clip. I'd also include the B&N next door to one of them (since they serve Starbucks there even if it's not technically one).
@@SynxItax I didn't realize this, but apparently Lewis Black had a whole big about our (former) two adjacent Starbuckses.
These guys are great! Christopher Guest had the perfect cast for his movies.
Every time I see two Starbucks next to each other I think of this scene.
In addition to being incredibly beautiful Parker is flat-out hilarious
I swear their is no script in half this scene really funny omg
He's so good.
One of the funniest movies ever,no silly shit,
Hahahahaaaaaa@her dazed, glazed, far off look at 1:47..and those braces!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
we are so lucky to be raised around catalogs,
Secretly...they are my Heroes.
parker posie is off the grid in this what a nutty professor
We all have a Sister or Relatives like this, Unfortunately. 🤣😂
Because of the lactose.
You’re lactose intolerant now.
Mhm.
I always thought that was so funny.
And the look on her face, lol!
The way he said it 😂😂😂
That's the best part🤣🤣🤣
One of my fav movies pure genius. Xo's
I can’t help but laugh from beginning to end of this clip...😂
Didn't realize it was all about their braces and the 's' sibilant till a minute in. Brilliant comedy.
I didn’t notice his braces until the LL Bean catalog part 😆
Lmao, I hope Guest can come out with a new mockumentary like this in the next few years! That’d be sick!
Just came back from a vacation to NY. Stayed in Manhattan for a week. Awesome trip. NY is truly the best city in world. That being said, I believe I ran into these two people at, can you believe it, a Starbucks.
He’s so good!
Omg I forgot that people used to order stuff from catalogs over the phone
Comic gold. Best In Show.
Paul Fussel - Class decodes this train wreck perfectly
hahaha! This is my favorite scene. So hilarious and real. This is why I don't go to Starbucks. haha
"Sometimes."
This came out in 2000 bro really perceptive that whole thing had just started
Reminds me so much of my brother and sister-in-law, both of whom are obsessed with Starbucks, LL Bean and went to law school.
I love them
Love this movie :)
I’m assuming they’re talking about the Starbucks on Robson Street in Vancouver
Brilliance.
Great funny movie,no silly scenes.
Parker's face at 1:27.
Relationship goals right here
a grande expresso!
Great stuff.
it feels like this whole scene was improvised.
It was. The whole movie is.
GO GET BUSY BEE
OMG this is sooooooo 2000 😂😂😂 jcrew and Starbucks
I love this lol
She’s so magnetic
That is one huge house for two people and a dog.
Parker Posey is so funny.
Hahahaha!
Thank you for the video.
"yeah, soy, yeah" I wonder if Hamilton goes on Reddit...
How does she not laugh with those braces. 😂😂😂
my goodness just funny
Hitchcock is talking like those braces were just put in 10 minutes before filming the scene lol
This is so good that it's hard to watch.
This is literally Amazon shopping nowadays 😂
a GRANDE CAPPUCHINO
