Only ever been to Whitby for work but it were a nice town by memory.
I was also in READING Berkshire for work and was drunk every evening thanks to the work culture of the mid 1990s. It was a shite town those days
duke of york does great food huge portions ,best fish n chip shop is the one next to wetherspoons angel fisheries if i remember right

The Black Horse is one of my favourite Whitby pubs. The used to sell Tetleys Imperial, a stronger darker version of Tetleys. I don’t know where you can get it now.

You walked straight past the best Pub in Whitby The Black Horse and over the Bridge where you helped that old gentleman there's a Sammy's ( Samuel Smiths ) just up the alley on the right the beer and food are spot on Bud!
We went to Hadley's and it was amazing ! 😋👌

Whitby is one of my fave places though there are far better pubs/bars than what you showed IMO - but if Guinness or lager etc is your thing then there are plenty of mainstream boozers to go at. However, if you're looking at the more specialist craft end of real and keg ale supplied by independent bars rather than big chains, the Green Dragon, Esk Vaults, and Arch & Abbey are good. Throw into the mix The Quirky Den, and Beer O'Clock too - obvs all depends what you want from your session
