My 2018 VW Tiguan is in the workshop and tomorrow the mechanics are due to replace the water pump. (Not being a mechanical type, I wouldn't dare try this work, but your great video has shown me what has to be done, so I hope the guys doing the work are as good as you).

Great video! Exactly the same problem I have on a 2012 VW CC Sport. It's a bit harder, but I was able to do this job without taking the intake manifold off. The hardest part about that was cleaning the surfaces on the engine to get a good gasket seal. Thanks for the tip about the bolt on the belt gear being left threads.
One thing about removing the injectors, is that you're supposed to put new seals on them when reinstalling. Replacing injector seals require a special tool and you install them in the engine first, which makes it easy to connect the wiring before you install the manifold. Also with the injectors in place the compression will hold the engine so you can undo the bolt on the belt gear.

An excellent video have 2013 EOS and this video was exactly correct step by step. Understand why last person didn't put back the missing support bracket. As it probably the most challenging thing to get removed. It just takes a little patience. But you do need a special 10mm star for the lower bolt. While you're replacing pump, make sure to clean you intake valve chambers.

For anyone doing this job, here are the parts I ended up replacing on my 2012 VW CC Sport:
    1 - 06H121026DR - Engine Water Pump Assembly.
1 - 06H121131C - Joint. Water pump ASSEMBLY union. - union joint on left side of water pump housing
2 - 4E0121666 - Seal. Hose. Ring. (Rear, Upper, Lower) - for hose connectors to water pump.
2 - N90765301 - Seal. Ring. Hose. Coupling. Pipe. (Front, Rear, Upper, Lower) - I replaced the top seal on the radiator, even though you don't have to take that apart.
1 - WHT006407 - Seal. Pipe. Ring. Tube. (Rear) - O-ring for the leaking pipe. PS! This said it doesn't fit my car on dealer's website!
One tip for getting these parts is to search your dealer's parts website, instead of calling them. When calling them I only get quoted the retail price for all the parts, but the website has huge discounts and gives you another 20% off for using genuine VW parts. I choose local pickup at the dealer and the parts have been ready in a couple of hours for pickup.

You got me thinking that I possibly did have it loosened a bit. Lol. I might take it back apart just to double check it. It would be worth the time to do so. Alright mate. Great video 👍 I was wondering if you could help me. I have a Tiguan same engine. I'm having issues were the water from the expansion tank gets sucked into the engine and the coolant warning comes on. When I then try to fill it and open the expansion tank. The water will flow back into the tank and no longer needs topped up. Then I drive again and the water will go back down and trigger the warning again. Im not loosing any coolant and don't see any leaking and so far the engine still stays cool and has not over heated. Do you think a new water pump would fix this or could it be something else. Any help would be great I'm pulling my hair out. For all I have left

I've also notice small fizzy like bubbles coming up when the car is in idle. I had assumed an air leak so let the car run with the cap off and notices the fizz. I think the fizzy bubbles are filling up the tank causing pressure to push the water down. I've got my suspicion on maybe a head gasket, so not good news so far. Hello there brother! I just bought a tiguan 2011 2.0 TSi a couple of months ago and first time to have a VW. It was such a fantastic car to drive. I’ve been watching VW tiguan videos and yours is a very helpful guide for DIYer like me. So far I don’t have a problem with cooling system until this day my dash shows a warning message “coolant check” and temp gauge sign was blinking though the needle in the temp gauge stayed in the middle and I know engine temp is still good. Once I arrive at home and checked the coolant level is below the min mark. Checked any signs of leak under the car but no signs of any coolant leak. Tried opening the cap of expansion tank slowly and when air escapes the level of coolant goes up to max level again. It seems there’s air in the system. Do you have any idea why this occurs. I topped up the coolant a bit past the max level just to make sure it won’t go below the min mark.
Thank you very much for sharing this video and once my car will have a water pump failure or any intake manifold problem I know now how to do it by myself.
