I've been playing this for the past 3 and 1/2 years and will continue with my windows down
Please could we have a round of applause for the person(s) who
filmed this, great shots of S.L.'s fingers.
and playing it at half speed is great tuition
Looks like multiple cameras and some great editing !
Well, A Huge thanks on my side!
To ou can listen to your death of Christmas
You can listen to the death of Christmas
brilliant idea Leslie!!!!
Stuart is breathtakingly brilliant !
When you can enjoy the sound of real instrument for once, no lyrics just your mind , body and soul vibrating to the frequencies of the sound!
After playing pipes for 48 years I wish I played with this much clarity, these 3 pipers displayed the best performance I have ever seen. They demonstrate that even the simple 2/4's & 4/4's can sound amazing played with heart and soul. I would have listened to this at least 2-3 times a week since I came across it.
Would love to know the list of all the songs Stuart played in this set? Able to name any of them?
the most beautiful ancient ancestral music of the entire European area
World Class ❤
Stuart is one of the nicest human beings in the world, as well as one of the most talented pipers Ever! 💕
I know this guy! So true
@@fishingwithmagnes4114 ok p be all lab ll
I like how he took the time to tune the drones, that's humble and real. You say to the crowd, just hold on now because I care about the best sound of my pipes. What a majestic sound!!
Standard behavior in solo piping
Lay them down and let cool or dry and you need to re tune,,, also even when playing some alterations are needed if played a long time... between tunes he returned as they got warmer
Yes pipes are a pain in the arse in this respect. If you dont take time to tune up till sound shite.
wow great music
Stewart Liddell was one of my judges for a pipe competition I had. He also performed, and it was the most entertaining 5 hours I have ever spent sitting in a chair!
Such humility from outstanding artists, amazingly downplaying their extreme level of skill.
Angus is just incredible such a true old school piper!
What a really lovely Piobaireachd Willie McCallum played.
Solid. Loved thee guys piping for a long time.
Wonderful! The three together is a treat.
I can't stop watching it!!! Amazing
one of my favourite bagpipe videos!!!
This is as good as it gets ,world best pipers !!!
what beautiful sounding pipes just love them
Always a treat to the ear! Stuart is the kind of piper that breaths new life into the music of the Great Highland Bagpipe! Innovative fingering and creative musicality are the earmark of a great piper.
thanks !!! for this piece of gold! fantastic.
Awesome performance by the best of the best.
Stumbled upon this. WOW! I'm in awe at these gentlemens performance. They make this look easy peasy. Motivated to be better than I am now.
This is simply GLORIOUS!!!! Nuff said.
Congratulations sir, whish you all the best!
What a tremendous opportunity to see some of the greatest pipers out there under one roof. Excellent video.
I loved Highland Wedding and Cameronian Rant as Hornpipes. I can imagine that after playing those tunes over and over in competition they would lose their shine and an otherwise bored player might start to see what else you could do with those same collection of notes. Very clever and entertaining, and oh, so musical. Well done Terry and Stuart!
wonderful piping.
Beautiful music and wonderful interpretations.
Unbelievable talent, Stuart and stamina. Crisp and precise.
Stuart is a great player...love to hear him all the time...
Thank you so much for posting!
fantastic piping by these 3 guys Stuart Liddel alone is incredible to say the least
I’ve seen pipe music - I play the piano, never seen so many grace notes in my LIFE! LOVE THE PIPES, ALWAYS HAVE & ALWAYS WILL
right??
You'll either love the pipes, or hate them! ♡♡♡♡♡Great Scott's fulla musical talent
Super WOW! A cut above.
This clip os an impprtant gift!!!
Such excellence in the arts - Here, HEAR!
Simply amazing!! I'm so deeply in love with the sound of bagpipes :)
Greetings from Italy
Thank you for recording and sharing this. Wow
Fred Morrison wow I needed to hear him.During the corronavise corantine this truly heloed. I'm a tin Whistler loved it.
Thanks for posting ! I think this is the first video in which I've heard Angus McColl speak. LOL. All inspiring pipers. I shall endeavor to persevere with my own piping !
Simply Fantastic!
What to say great piper one of the best
Last christmas I listened to amazing grace with bagpipe. My cat started rubbing on the speaker. She loves the bagpipes and sitar,
All three are great! But for some reason many hear seem to have forgotten my man Angus. He're to you Mr. McColl of Benderloch!
I am German and pretty sure that i don`t have any celtic blood in my veins. But why does this music make my tears flow ? Why does it move me so much ?
I am not religious at all, but if something like reincarnation exists, i *must* have lived in Scotland in an earlier life. This piping here is pure Gold.
I'm Puerto Rican and love this music. As much as I have listened to it throughout my life, it never fails to move me.
It's the science of 2 different frequency (220 and 110 let's imagine in tune with his 440 low A) thus giving a combo that goes right through a person , some like it others find it annoying.... these guys give me chills with such talent and good tuning
@@matthewdenty7760 Bagpipes always give me Goosebumps, they move me in a way i can´t explain, but what you said there sounds about right.
I'm sure you did
Will try and make a very very far link here. Holy Roman Empire was part of some parts of Italy and Germany. Bagpipes were orignally made in Europe ( mainly Spain) and were brought to Scotland by the Romans. So maybe your family in Germany were playing them and maybe thats why you love them... :)
Angus McColl's commentary @1:12:33 - Looks like I'm not alone in figuring out my sets as I'm playing them.
Superb piping by William McCallum.
Excelente. Un deleite musical.
A very talented gentleman indeed!
and knowing that some people muck the bagpipes... awesome job awesome bag control and technique
Just watched it again, for the hundredth time! 😃
Born and raised in Los Angeles. . . . So, why do the pipes give me chills whenever I hear them?
It’s your soul saying hello.. my friend 🏴🤝🇺🇸
@@jgalt155 hahah. Your name made me laugh
I'm just a beginner with the pipes but I love this instrument. Hopefully when I get more proficient I can work on playing one of these tunes.
Just great stuff...!
Oh ferra birl that worked EVERY TIME it was asked to!! And a POWER TRIO around 1hr 30mins playing an MSR our junior band used to compete with in in Rhodesia and SA 1966...
Stuart Liddell and Willie McCallum...TWO FIGURES....TWO GREAT PIPERS FOR BAGPIPES HISTORY
..and angus!
@@cobro2626 of course!!!
Super expression in every tune. I am familiar with all these tunes, but when played to a Rolls Royce standard like this, I seem to think that Stuart has rewritten them. The Young Mc Gregor makes the hair { or what I have left} stand on my head. Absolutely beautiful.
Excelent !!! 😊😊😊
McCallum is absolutely magical!
Stu's drones in the slow air. Face melting.
Could you tell me the name of that slow air? It is amazing, and the way he plays it is sublime.
@@nealhinerman1649 Fair Maid of Barra
Que hermoso toca este hombre!!!!! por Dios!!!!
these guys are awesome
Perfection
Fair Maid of Barra here gets me every time..
This is such a good video, it's a shame you can only like it once!
Best of CZcams!

Willie macllam one of the best players so clean an true to the tunes he plays absolute brilliance
Greesin’ up the little pinky there. Good idea.
I am German , why do I like the Sound so much 🤷♂️
This music belongs to all people , the waves of sound resonates in the chest and finds it’s way to your soul , all the best 🏴 🤝 🇩🇪 .
CSM...que tremendo!!!
ياسلااااااااام عليك يامبدع يارايع 🌹
This channel has some nice rare piping videos on it. Subscribed.
excellent bagpipe.
Liked and subscribed!
Great!!!
ayeckslent indeed, mun
So far as I know, I haven't a drop of Scots blood, but damn if this isn't stirring to heart and soul regardless.
Oh noooo, when he said Stuart Little I was expecting a little mouse with a little bagpipe :0)
USA means more now than ever praise God
When he was talking about seeing all the small Islands like Islay or Jura and then he said that he hoped the audience could "get the flavor" of the songs I had to laugh as all the Islands he mentioned are also famous for their Whiskey as I'm sure plenty of people will attest.
man I totally appreciate the bagpipe now\
Stuart's performance was definitely X-Rated!
I LOVE to listen to the pipes, have been blessed to hear them ALL MY LIFE, but this session was a MEMORIAL FOR ME! Since the virus destroyed the games here, this has been a TRUE blessing, & HOPE with a pure heart we can have them back here in California Orange County AGAIN!!!!!
The sheet music of the final set Stuart Liddell plays ( the Highland wedding hornpipe and the Cameronian rant hornpipe ) is available on my youtube channell.
i didn't know it is possible to keep the bag pressure high and steady for THIS long. I broke pressure 40 seconds in and I'm only playing on a less than medium reed. I wish I can be half this good.
Stuart Liddell Number 1
I really appreciate Angus MacColl's strathspeys. Great dot cut and tempo is appropriate too. I hate it when top pipers play them too fast. At the end of the day a dancer should be able to dance to a strathspey.
All about the 'lift'!
He is pure genuis
I bet these 3 pipers would be the bagpipe version of top gear one day😂
Skye K Richenderfer, that is a grand auld celtic name the noo.
What lovely tune is being played at the 43 minute mark?
Would anyone happen to know the name of the last tune Stuart plays in his first set, after 51st Highland Division and McPhail of Bunessan?
I’m glad there was marches, strathspeys and reels etc. The usual trend of playing tunes, some of them not very tuneful, faster and faster for long periods of time is no doubt very skilful, but it can get really boring after a while. I wonder if any of these guys with their superb tone, provided the sound samples for the Blair chanter.
Beam Em' Up 🦌👣
Had banjo breakdown in the repertoire for years but never heard those last two parts from the end of stuarts first set. Is it possible to find sheet music or am i gonna have to figure it out myself? haha
Can someone tell me the tunes Stuart plays prior to about 8.00?
