Nissan gets a bad rap, but the Rogue is actually a really nice vehicle. I've rented many of them, and they're always a pleasure to drive. That said, I'm on Team Mazda, and would choose that over the Rogue. But you really can't go wrong with either. Both really nice compact SUV's.

I am about to pull the trigger on cx-5 as well. I actually prefer the Rouge in every way EXCEPT powertrain, but that is a very big ding. I just can't get myself to buy a v3 with a huge turbo and a potentially problematic cvt. Sounds to me like a recepie for disaster, which is a shame as I really like the Rouge.

CVT w/o a real shifter (ie, shift-by-wire)… no thank you! And all mated to a turbo 3cyl. Double no thanks-talk about a recipe for long term unreliability. Get the dependable Mazda with its real transmission and proven SkyActiv 2.5L 4cyl.

IMO, if you can afford the turbo CX5, its a great option. If you're in the price-point of the non-turbo CX5, the Rogue is a no-brainer as its more powerful and much more efficient while being roomier and softer ride.

I drove a Rogue and What a pos. It drove like an 85 chevy s10. Ride was horrible, slow, unrefined. Junk
