    Rubber was the one that got me on to them, ipreferred Stone Who Kinks and Animals, the dangerous bands, but Rubber Soul was a de[arture from the mop top stuff and i really loved it

      Lol. The Beatles were the real bad Boys out of all those bands. The others (especially the Stones) just gave the image of being "dangerous bands". The Beatles manager had encouraged them to present themselves as professional, likeable guys in order to become successful. After the Beatles opened the door for those other bands they could put on the image of being more dangerous while still being allowed through the door.

      It really doesn’t make sense to compare the Beatles to other bands imo. They were in their own category.

      @@michaelharrington75stones were into a lot more sinister activity, particularly brian jones.

    • @pedromarques7457
      @pedromarques7457 Před 9 měsíci +5

      When I compare bands my criterion is the quality of the music and not how "dangerous" they can be.
      None of the bands you mentioned had arguments to compete with the Beatles' creativity, so they opted for the "bad and ugly" public image as a way to stand out.

  • @plasteredbastard
    @plasteredbastard Před 9 měsíci +10

    for me you articulated pretty well the uncertainty for brian after the band quit touring finding any way to stay relevant himself and keeping the band in the public consciousness. i think brian's loss signalled the inevitable end though paul did his utmost to keep them engaged and moving in a single direction. well done, another fine installment.

      It's not an LP though. It's an EP with some singles stuck on the end of it. (It does have some of their best songs though.)

    16:55 "Harrison's role as lead guitarist was limited" because he'd spent the last year or so messing around with a sitar instead of getting better on his guitar, and focusing on the Beatles, which was his livelihood. His band mates probably felt like he was letting them down during that period? He was running off to India to take sitar lessons instead of focusing on guitar for the Beatles songs. When he finally made the choice to put the sitar down and focus on becoming a better guitar player he started doing his finest guitar work.

      What absolute nonesene. George was already a great guitar player at that point. George as said in the video was not interested in the album. hence his lead guitar was limited. because he wasnt involved.
      rewatch the video its explained in there.
      He also never "put down the sitar" to focus on his guitar playing complete nonesense.

    The peak of The Beatles wasn't Sgt. Pepper, but a few months after that album had been made -- with John's masterpeice "All You Need Is Love" (1967). That was the pinnacle of The Beatles artistic & musical influence over popular culture itself, and the 1960s generation.
    It was also the beginning point of the "peace & love" theme that people now identify with the 1960s decade, and the point where Rock music had become something more than just entertainment ... but now an alternate way of reimagining Life.

    I wish the lads had hung it up when they stopped playing live. 1966 or 67. From the late fifties to the end of their touring they were an exciting rock band. After that they tried too hard to be arty, or worse---Pop. They still had a few good rockers, but most of it was sad. Number 9, number 9, number 9... And then you have that dismal mess with Yoko in the studio howling.

      You won't get many supporting this view but they were really being kept alive by the studio. Certainly after All You Need is Love, anyway. Paul could have launched his solo career at this point. John, a victim of drug abuse, sadly.

    I think the 'White Album' was Lennon & Harrison's push to get the Beatles back to some credibility (after MMTour & Pepper) but then Lennon lost interest and McCartney + Martin were left to produce the banal, sugary (though superbly executed) Abbey Road (Let It Be being a lacklustre throw-away that foreshadowed much of McCartmoney's solo work)

    Should the Beatles had not have the haircut and the publicity that they received, do you think they had sold millions of records? For example, "Good Morning,Good Mirning" do you think it would have been a hit for everyone to sing along like for example, "Happy Together"that everybody knows up to today and that it was released at that time more or less? Pepper is garbage.

  • @aisle_of_view
    @aisle_of_view Před 8 měsíci

    Been a huge fan since age 5, Pepper is my least favorite release. It's corny, campy, Paul dominated junk.
