I know people love the whole Bhaal babe thing but tbh..... the line that absolutely took me out is "don't become his" when talking about becoming a mind-slave to Bhaal. The fact that he whispered it. It was so unsuspected. Ugh. He is so fucking afraid for his love.
My Durge when he greeted her like that: "You need to stay at camp for today. I can't believe you would call me that, knowing how much this stresses me out. *I can't even look at you right now!"*
I think the Bhaalbabe thing works if you read it as him trying to make light of something because he's afraid. He clearly HATES admitting to his true vulnerable feelings - that's why he gets mad if you're really honest during the love quiz. So I've generally read his "precious little Bhaal-babe" line as him being like "I'm fine, see? I'm not scared to death. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not!"
Having played both BG 1 and 2 (with expansions) waaaaaay back in the day, i cannot tolerate any other player character than a bhaal spawn. It´s just canon in my head. Wether you want to be good, evil or something in between.... that´s up to us.
I did my first playthrough as durge x astarion and now I’m playing as just plain tav and story is NO WHERE NEAR as satisfying as durge romancing astarion - I swear it’s so canon
I also romanced him as Tav, and as sweet as it was...these Astarion/Durge romance dialogues are seeming so much more romantic and natural. I need to do another playthrough as Durge now...
@@sammymonstar5358It's the short version of the dark urge, an origin you can play as just like how you could play as Astarion. Except you can customize durge just like an original character. I have yet to play durge so my knowledge is limited, but I'm considering starting a playthrough soon to add to my 4 other playthroughs.
The writer for Durge basically ignored writing interactions for other companions and just hyper focused on Astarion. Would've liked more attention paid to Tav backgrounds. Not really interested in Durge's background.
@@Vioven Would of been nice if they added more to Tav(yanno added more lore). But playing the Durge route feels like a bit of a throw back with the previous BG games, playing as a Bhaalspawn mc(later officially called Abdel Adrian). And it sure as hell fun playing this route.
I actually cried when I got this scene with my good durge, it really touched me. Think I sat at my desk for a good five minutes having a little wibble haha. Bless his heart. 🥰
I love how frustrated Astarion sounds when he tries to classify your relationship, before you resolve the conflict with Cazador. Could never imagine him admitting this level of helplessness at the beginning of the game.
This happened when my Durge wasn’t even romancing Astarion and it was great to see. For both characters to drop their guards and be vulnerable was done so well.
It's an old punishment where basically it's just a deep pit with a small opening at the top. Once you go in, there's no getting out. You are left to die in darkness amongst the corpes and human waste of previous inhabitants.
when you rest after arriving to Rivington it should trigger a nightmare cutscene where it reveals you’re a bhaalspawn. then go talk to Astarion and you’ll get this dialogue
as the other replies already said, you do get this scene during a long rest once you arrive at rivington. however i believe you lock yourself out of this once you talk to gortash. not 100% certain on that. but to be safe, make sure you rest plenty (it triggered after about 2-3 long rests for me). tip: you can also move time forward without wasting supplies for the sake of cutscenes by doing partial rests
Imo it’s absolutely ridiculous that it’s possible to lock myself out of entire romance plot-specific scenes just because I didn’t long rest at the right time! I didn’t get this scene and I’m too far ahead to go back and get it. I also locked myself out of Astarion’s other siblings attacking us because I didn’t rent a room at Elfsong. There’s so much of this game people are accidentally missing because they missed a minuscule window to long rest, and not in the fun Easter egg way.
@@wintermoons1215btw you can still get attacked by his siblings at the dock camp, Elfsong isn’t the trigger. you only need to take more time and not go to Cazador immediately. I do agree though that the rest mechanic is plain dumb and causes players unintentionally to miss a lot of things. I messed up my durge game by not having the nightmare cutscene, in my earlier games i missed the owlbear or Laezel fighting with Shadowheart.
If you go full Durge and the butler joins your camp, he tells you. All of Bhaal’s biological children were born during Sarevok’s heyday a hundred years before (which is why, even though Orin refers to them as blood-kin, she’s still technically Bhaal’s great-granddaughter and not a pure Bhaalspawn). The Dark Urge is different because Bhaal created them from “a scrap of his own gore” and they have no mother. So theoretically, they could be any race because Bhaal just personally designed them from reanimated viscera.

Have you heard the dialogue where he says “I’ll weep, wondering what happened to my poor, mad love” 😭😭
@@kendelle4216 I haven't heard it in my own playthroughs, and hopefully never will because that ending is just too tragic D:

Emotionally supportive Astarion is giving me life.
Being a goody two shoes is nice and all but being a goody two shoes that is actively trying not to kill everyone in sight is where its at

BHAAL BABE. God. Asterious is so achingly sweet man. How he connects with you through his being a vampire spawn. Ugh.
Gods above, that little, desperate whisper, "Don't become his," is going to end me.

I NEVER HEARD HIM SAY THIS BEFORE AAAAHHHH!
Bhael babe! XD
That worried look when he say it... it's so sincere, you can see how much he cares for Durge Tav when he say that! 😢❤
He gave that speech to my befriended Durge and I ended up sitting there crying. The “Bhaalbabe” line after broken the tension at least.
I wish he’d call me a Bhaal Babe for the rest of the game
It’s so hilariously awkward that they back up like 5 paces after every kiss like imagine if u did that to ur love irl
Man I love watching all these interactions other people have with him ❤❤❤. Thanks for sharing something I'd definitely miss

I would die for him

These clips make me want to do a dark urge playthrough
Great now I have to look up oubliette!

It's so funny, I see this kind of comment all over these videos. That's not a cat you're hearing, it's a peacock.
@@moonwatcher99 I can hear it now. Thanks for pointing it out.
what dye did you use for his armor?
Wait, how can I have this conversation !?! I didn't had it!
For some reason I can’t get this dialog. Or any dialog regarding the dark urge for any of my companions…
Have you long rested since reaching Riverton? That’s when it’s triggered.
When does this occur ? Before or after Orin kidnapping?
I think you get this scene when you rest shortly after arriving in Rivington but I’m not 100% sure

How does Bhaal even have a gith kid?

Astarion: "I'm so traumatized I've forgotten what the concept of a girlfriend is"
Also Astarion, two seconds later: "HEY BABE"
