I’ve flown East with a few different Airlines, Qatar, Emirates, Philippine Airlines but Etihad for me rocked them all. The flight, the cabin crew, the service… excellent.

Yes, great take off, but do you notice on airlines from these countries how the flight crew is either all female or male captain and female first officer. No way will a middle eastern male be co-pilot to a female. Hilarious!

There’s something I don’t understand: Why don’t I sometimes hear "Rotate" between V1 and the takeoff itself, or "Retard" after "singing" the altitude "0", on landing? I feel my ignorance, but I’m just a big fan of this world and this channel. Gracias !!!
Rotate must always be called out when the aircraft is operated by a two-man crew. Probably you fail to hear it on some occasions.
On the other hand "retard" is an aural alert by the automatic call out system linked to the radio altimeter . Not all aircraft have this and on many occasions they are configured different. That explains why you do not hear the alert on some occasions.
I mean there should be a cam out side of cockpit .few months back i saw a video

How much 'sand storms/winds' from Sahara desert wear/tear down engines in Egypt? In Finland about North 65 - East 27 degrees location, we at winter time, have sometimes Sahara sand on top of snow!

I have watched quite a few of these videos and I'm just wondering, is there any reason why the pilot flying still keeps their hand on the yoke after engaging A/P? Some of them do, some don't. Is it just a matter of preference ?

Excellent vid as always. Two beautiful women especially the first officer doing an awesome job. Just looking at the 787 Dreamliner cockpit, which is a wonder to look at but the yoke looks as if it was designed on a Friday afternoon just before home time. Awful

Only 20 seconds of manual flight after rotation... Can't imagine their level of manual flight skills...
hand flying skills are non existant with these two "pilots". If you can't feel it, you can't fly it. Not impressed

@@patrickbaker2802 The auto pilot will always do a better job of “flying the aircraft”. The pilot in command will tell the autopilot what heading/route and altitude to follow. The pilot monitoring the pilot flying will bite the pilot flying if they disengage the auto pilot!. Sops must be followed. You want to hand fly from rotation to top of ascent and top of descent to landing ?. Go start your own airline….
It was very nice ladies' flight on modern Boeing. Now I would like to see those ladies piloting DC-3 under bad weather conditions, limited visibility, navigating visually and manually computing routes.
I am sure that by the time you get to be an Etihad 787 captain you have had plenty of time (years) in propellor planes with "bad weather conditions, limited visibility, navigating visually and manually computing routes". Do you think they just went direct from a Cessna 172 to a Dreamliner? Or are you suggesting something else?

An honest question: why the takeoff is always in manual mode? Is it possible to takeoff in autopilot?
My guess would be to ensure pilots have complete and rapid intervention if something goes wrong on the roll. There are plenty of radio navigation devices and gps to help with auto-lands, not as much (if any) for take off profiles.
Also noise abatement procedures that are on and off at varying times.
Finally, the thrust setting is automatically controlled when the pilots press TO/GA (take off / go around) with those speeds programmed into the flight management computer at the beginning of flight. Autopilot activation is often done relatively quickly after a stable nose up attitude is achieved.
Currently all takeoffs are manual and it is not possible for the autopilot to takeoff by itself. Although, airbus is testing automated takeoff but it will take a lot of time to implement in routine flights.
No airliner is currently capable of automatic takeoff. But in the future they more than likely will be to help with pilot workload. Look up Airbus ATTOL.

It is also banned in the UK. Incredibly dangerous. Time of useful conscious at 43000' is approximately 5s. Spending time trying to untangle a mask from a headset could be fatal. Also communication breakdown in the flight deck has lead to many accidents.
