    A critical detail is that once you charge the battery with the Level-1 charge cord, you have to push the door unlock button to release the charging plug. This feature is needed so that no one can steal your charge cord if you are charging in a public location and the driver is not present. Even if the doors are unlocked, you must press the unlock button inside one of the doors to release the charge cord. I wish the dealership would of explained this detail when I picked up the SUV as I thought the plug was defective my first time charging at home with the Level-1 cord.

    Great thorough interview. I waited awhile for this vehicle. Love it, despite not having the Mark Levinson. I do wish I had that option but the pros of the car outweigh the missing premium ML. Pano missing is not a big deal for me. This PHEV's 37 mile EV range is spot on, if not under-rated. With my driving, using AC, EV range goes past 40 miles. To improve range, only fill up the gas tank to full for long road trips, etc. This EV range makes sense if your daily commute can be covered by 37 miles EV range, you can go 3+ months before needing gas. Note, if you have a longer daily commute, you will use gas every day.

      @@chrisstewart7147 I haven't had any issues so far. Been very happy with it. But fair warning, your ES may have more of a luxury feel inside than the NX. Make sure you get in one to see if that would bother you. Also, the lack of Mark Levinson may be a deal breaker for you. My old Acura had a much nicer speaker system than the NX450h+, but its adequate for me. EV-wise it's a compromise versus full electric, but I go on road trips often enough and don't want to be dependent on the EV charging station network during those road trips. For my daily commute its all electric. It's been two months and I'm still at half tank of gas with my normal 'social' longer distance driving during that time. And update, at a half tank of gas with the above driving style, EV range has increased to 43-44 miles.

      @@abelievnguy I bought the NX. I feel for me the EV range is what I’m after. I always thought a plug in hybrid would be the perfect solution for me, so this is the only way to see.
      I like my ML system, but I’m not one to listen to it enough where that makes a difference. I go on trips very little and stay local so I’m excited to see what happens.

      I read somewhere that they don’t make the Levinson sound systems available on hybrids because the extra speakers and amps put a strain on the hybrid battery operation.

    Why all the complaining about the buttons? Having to look down what a button does can hardly be considered safer than looking straight ahead. Within two days you'll have memorized what they all do - just as with the marked buttons - so you won't even need to look at the HUD anymore. What's the big deal?

    • @MikesCarInfo
      @MikesCarInfo  Před rokem

      Unlike marked buttons these buttons are not consistent. They do completely different things depending on different selections.
      Also you can't just press the button... you have to put your finger on the button wait for the display to show you what it is going to do then you press it. I tried to memorize the buttons but they are not consistent and you don't always know what screen you are starting in.

    • @RelicDavvi
      @RelicDavvi Před rokem

      @MikesCarInfo I've had mine for 8 months meow.
      I know it's been a moment since you had the car in your possession but if you imagine the left side as audio and the right side as cruise control settings, then you can assume the left right for the audio is for track changes and the left right related to cruise.
      I rarely need to go any deeper than the the 1st page. On the cruise side, Up and down for speed setting and right for cancel.
      As for the Nav you have to connect to your phone because the Nav is subscription based. For the 9 inch, you pay monthly and for the 14 inch, you get 3 years free. It works on its own data link and not your phone because the voice recognition stuff is web based. Also the navigation maps is google maps supported. So you only need your phone as a new owner so that you can make a profile which lets the car know to start the 3 year free subscription. When my 3 years are up I intend to just stick to the android auto side.
      The real miss here is that Lexus doesn't give review cars with the subscription already linked so that reviewers see how well Lexus Connect works.

  • @RelicDavvi
    @RelicDavvi Před rokem

    Regarding the on-board navigation.
    There is an on-board that doesn't require the phone, per se. The app is used initially to load an owners account/profile. Once connected the navigation is available to use. It's technically subscription based but new owners get 3 years. At the end of 3 years, I intend to just use android auto and Google maps. (If at the end of 3 years if it's cheap enough, I might buy more. Which I doubt I will.)
    The miss here is Lexus not sending review cars with the map function available.

    You would get a lot more views with shorter videos. I skip right over anything longer than 20 minutes.

    • @MikesCarInfo
      @MikesCarInfo  Před rokem +9

      Over the years I tried different length videos. Shortest vehicle overview was 90 seconds. Longer videos do better than shorter ones as far as views and providing value to the viewer. Short videos waste people's time. Viewers wind up watching hours of short videos trying to get all the info they are seeking and still not get the level of information and experience that one of my videos provide. Not to mention they are bombarded with the presenter's subjective opinions and comparisons that are irrelevant to the buyers situation. A full complete video regardless of length actually saves time in the long run.
