I do love Jennifer! She sings so well and what she lacks in dance, she makes up for in spirit. She might have found another genre to add to her collection! Good for her!
There was nothing untoward about the original posters comment. Nettles isn’t a dancer but she does a great job here. I’m a trained dancer, I could learn the role in a month, that’s not a basis for argument
I was so shocked when they announced she was going to broadway because I didn't think she had the right voice or style to handle broadway songs. I was proved wrong after I watched this and think she's fantastic. Not many people can make the transition, especially from country music but I think broadway shows off her voice so much better than country music. You found your place girl.
Has anyone seen any not-so-official recordings while roaming around on here? Huge Jennifer fan but unable to go to New York. I'd love to see her do Nowadays. TIA
I have no idea who she is (apparently she’s a country singer but I’ve never heard of her) so here are my objective thoughts: voice fantastic, dancing could be cleaner and isolated, acting could be more convincing. Like it looked like she was putting on the character, not that she “was” Roxie. Maybe she was just having an off night? It happens. And I’m sure she does a lot better than I ever could so I’m not judging. It’s such a hard and iconic role so *kudos* for being brave enough to take it on. Brava to her!
Tomorrow night I’m performing this for a cabaret, and sadly we don’t have the mic that you tape on, and my little dance is too much to stay near the mic stand, so I have to hold it. That means I only got one arm to work with XD
With a lot of these songs, especially this one, i really enjoy the whole sing/talking. Roxie does this a lot especially in this number. And to see that stripped back and everything sung clean and without much real characteristics is dissapointing
Can anyone identify the bearded muscular dark haired dancer? He is the BEST at the Fosse style moves, including the hands. A lot of time at the beginning he's at the right of frame (but often cut out of the picture), but in the final pose he is at far left. (Identified: Michael Scirrotto)
I think that might be right, based on his Instagram and Facebook feeds. Did find the other fellow on Facebook but this name seems like a better fit. Thanks! Your help is appreciated. We need to credit these talented dancers who give so much to their craft.
I'm honestly not impressed... No it is not because I am not a country music fan; I keep my mind opened. It's just she looks so awkward and uncomfortable in a lot of bits. I've done Chicago, and I have seen various companies do this show, and her voice is too twangy for listeners to be like "oh, I can believe she is from Chicago". I guess I'm just a strong believer in "please stop using celebrities to be your leads when your show is not in danger. Use people who have been working their asses off their whole lives for their shot on Broadway, because people like Jennifer Nettles have already made it."
Couple of things: One, the audio is awful here because they're not plugged into the soundboard. Two, this was a obviously a press performance, and there's no audience there. You can feel the house is devoid of bodies. And three, This version of Chicago has always been a crappy, low-rent Broadway production meant for mass turnover that barely feels like a college production. I saw the show live. Nettles breathed a wonderful life into the character and I was impressed at how she downplayed the twang but still achieved a great vocal range. I actually saw Sugarland last night, and the difference is night and day in terms of vocal 'accent.'
Taivon Jovonnie :/?? I'm a hater?? I am a bit confused because I'm not a hater. And I was stating my opinion because its my opinion on how I felt sir. I think this woman did it better then her. There is always someone who is better. Now me a Being hater would be me saying this, "Brandy's suck! this woman did it 10 times more better then her!" then you can sit behind your Computer or what ever device you used to type your comment and tell me that I am a hater, when it is very clear that I am not a hater. And I did indeed see Brandy's performance on the Wendy Williams show. And she did an awesome job. So Taivon Jovonnie, I do not have "major problems." Thank you very much. :)
😂 wow. If Yu think that this no talent white girl did better then Brandy then I can imagine what kind of rythm and talent you got. It's been stated by Chicago producers that Brandy is by far their best Roxie so far. Hater.
No the audience does not love this performance ---this is absolutely awful. Broadway let this happen??? See it with Ann Reinking and then you will understand.
See Ann Reinking do this:) and you will be amazed. Ms. Nettles sorry but you can't touch Anne's performance. Once you see it with Ann their's no turning back. I know they want names but Nettles is not a dancer and this is just embarrassing. Ooooh noooooo,
I do love Jennifer! She sings so well and what she lacks in dance, she makes up for in spirit. She might have found another genre to add to her collection! Good for her!
You try to learn the whole show in under a month not being a trained dancer before you begin performing in front of a crowd. How well would you do?
That felt kinda of backhanded

Loved it..🍻
She did a great job good for her
She's great!
Great voice, considering she's a country music star, she did pretty well.

I will love to buy expensive ticket again for watch Chicago

She toned down the twang! But it’s still there. Sounds pretty

Whoa! Reba, then Jennifer. I hope Carrie will get a good acting coach so that she can debut on Broadway next! :-) #countrywomenBroadwayinvasion
THE VOICE OF SUGARLAND ON BROADWAY YES
I know this is a strange question ... but the guy who starts at the outer left ... the one with a light beard ... who is he? I think he is great! :D
Is this a rehersal? The lighting seems to simple for this scene
I agree. She is horrible as Roxie, but have you seen her in Mama Mia at the Hollywood Bowl. She was amazing as Donna.
One of the best Roxie's I've ever seen, honestly.

Hey, I think his name is Jason Patrick Sands.
Thank you!
Timothy Cicirella sorry, got it wrong, the guy you mentioned should be Michael Scirrotto...
I think that might be right, based on his Instagram and Facebook feeds. Did find the other fellow on Facebook but this name seems like a better fit. Thanks! Your help is appreciated. We need to credit these talented dancers who give so much to their craft.
Timothy Cicirella Wow, you have a great eye, I didn't even really notice him! He is really good!
Brandy>>>>

So basically you are bitter you didnt make it?
I'm not into it either. I checked several times to make sure this was Broadway, because she doesn't seem to be up to par..
I completely agree... I couldn't believe this was a video from the Broadway cast at first, actually.
Kayleigh Beaman : you are absolutely right: she ist awful :-)

God, Brandy did this so much better.

Taivon Jovonnie
Because I can. Because its my opinion. Just like you have one. :) GOOD day.

This is a dress rehearsal.
This women’s voice is incredible and very technologically proficient.
@@matthewhagner7803 technologically proficient? What?!
…or Renee Zellweger in the movie. This was soooo cringe.
Singing good. Dancing not so great.
Any of the girls at my son's theater academy can do it better. Roxie is charismatic and Fosse dance.
That was so not good…😬

Singing was great, dancing was ok, acting was...yikes.
