Why Caterpillar’s Stock Is Soaring

  • With a history that dates back more than 100 years, Caterpillar went from a small tractor company with a single product to an international brand that stocks job sites worldwide with massive and distinctively mustard-colored equipment. As of 2021, Caterpillar was a high-flying stock as it hit a record of $197.54 on January 12, 2021. With commodity prices rising again, investors are betting that one of the world’s premiere names in industrial equipment will benefit from a new presidential administration, one that might push new infrastructure initiatives.
Correction (February 11, 2021): An earlier version of misstated the date and stock price for CAT’s all time high.

Yo Muppet, the play was because peeps in Wall street over played their hand by borrowing more stock shares than existed and selling them to drive the price down totaling 140% more.. when there was any positive value driven news about GME the "short sellers AKA Wall street peeps" doubled down smashing any positive momentum.. Then WSB jumped in.. along with Michael Burry Dave Portnoi and others, many many others.. these guys created so much positive buying pressure the shorts got squeezed.. "Squeezed means the shares the shorts sold were going up in value.. meaning they will have to buy the shares back at a higher price than they sold them for, thus loosing money.. this Higher the price the more they could loose, if they have to cover their position.. The worst part was what happened with Robin Hood among other Brokerage platforms stopped Buying and allowed selling created a Negative pressure that was artificial. Many other brokerages had conveniently outages or massive amounts of lag.. IE place and order and it could take 10-15 minutes to process.. How and why this was allowed to happen should be investigated, but I doubt it will.. there are forces at play that will never let us hear about what really went down.. CAT

If you were to invest 10k..
in 2000 (CAT stock would be worth 143k paying 3k a year in dividends now )
in 2010 (CAT stock would be worth 45k paying $955 a year in dividends now)
in 2015 (CAT stock would be worth 26k paying $539 a year in dividends now)
Understand that when you invest in a asset, you need cash flow. I love growth stocks but the combination of growth and dividends is key. Look at this dude, COST on yield went from 2$ to 5.4% in just 5 years and 30% dividends in 20 years. That is an excellent investment but problem with you young bloods is you dont understand compound interest.

Basically they just had to Repaint the big Shovels and Draglines. They had Bucyrus-Erie
Foundry work force in there control. Look at them getting late into backhoe loader market. Took with the 416 the tryed and true Case backhoe, then on front they put the single cylinder bucket dump. A standard in the industry. Now there class 8 Truck's did not fair well. But when you look at it the Cat trucks came down a (International Trucks) assembly line. The Chinese have built Dozer's that look the same, taking about odd names brands, not the big Asian Manufacturer. The cab control look like Cats from 20 years ago.
