    David Batty left Leeds in similar circumstances to Phillips, he then went to Newcastle and when he then came back he gave his all. Just like Batty, Phillips never gave anything less than 100% for us. When I hear some people comment on the situation I wonder if social media had been around during Batty's time if there would have been hoards saying he shouldn't be taken back.

    Morning Ger, The thing people are missing with Phillips is that Bielsa's coaching made him into a very good player. I think for Kalvin that relationship is essential and Farke is possibly the man to bring the best out of him.

    The standard of Man City players is phenomenal- not many out of the PL teams would get into their team.
    Philips was a mistake for them. People should stop trying to rationalise it for me. Some things just don’t work out. He couldn’t reach the level they wanted.
    Pep perhaps doesn’t like mid-judging a player’s ability and blamed him with overeating and general fitness.
    I don’t believe he needs Bielsa to motivate him, but I do believe that Leeds would motivate him. Maybe that’s the shortfall here.

    When you weigh up West Ham paying £7mil loan fee for Phillips and us buying Ampadu £7mil I know what is better value. If they want a loan fee of that size again we should pass and look to explore other players. There is value out there proven by the likes of Gruev. We need to be looking at players up to £10m-£15m and then if one or two turn out good they then fund the next 2-3 players.

    • @LeedsUnitedTheView
      @LeedsUnitedTheView  Před měsícem

      Im not sure anyone has said there is a 7 million loan fee. So that would be speculation. Also your comparing a player playing in the championship surrounded by some of the best players in the division with a premier league player at west ham. or even man city. and ignoring what Phillips did at Leeds and England in recent times. Playing in a European final as well as being voted England's player of the year,

    • @PSNvjimmy
      @PSNvjimmy Před měsícem +2

      If they wanted a loan fee before (to recoup some money) I don’t think it’s an unreasonable assumption to think they would want one again next year if he was to go out on loan.
      I rate Phillips and commented on one of your previous videos saying; “Should only take Kalvin if it suits Leeds not because it could suit Kalvin. If we can get him for a reasonable price I think he could fit back in. I don’t think anything over £20m would be good given his form but under £20m could be good value if he can play how he was for England and Leeds again.”
      I think being back at Leeds could get him playing good again but I would be against paying a big loan fee. I am sure the 49ers would be able to come up with a deal that would suit maybe if a loan fee is involved then there’s a low option to buy which accounts for the loan fee so there’s potential upside for Leeds and City.

His true worth would be at 10 million at the highest and just is not the player he was under Bielsa. More important positions need filling , like at FB and up front. And I’m sure there are many better options than Phillips.

    Pep ruined Kalvin’s career at city.

      Pep did not ruin him. Have you seen how Pep had spoken of him?
      Phillips simply was not good enough for City.
      He never should have went there in the first place given Rodri was already there.
      Farke could not get a cup of water out of an ocean.
      Regardless of where Leeds finish this season, the 49ers first order of business should be terminating Farke.
      As far as Phillips, he is never going to be good enough for the Premier League. He has been terrible thus far with West Ham and is injured again.

      Pep is just honest in that he said that they thought that Kalvin would develop, but it became very clear that he was not, so they sought to unload him last summer.

City have the best squad in europe, potentially work football. secondly Pep has stock pilled good english players before becasue they have to have a certain number of english players and he needs the better ones, whether the play or not. there is history here. also no one is saying Kalvin has any right to do anything. hes a leeds lad who left because as we now know we needed to sell, and had we not sold Kalvin and Raphinia we would be in a massive financial hole right now, as well as breaching PSR last season with potential of a points deduction.
