I usually only cut the corners off on one side of the belt, leaving the corners on the side that feeds in helps protect the lacing or so I've found. Good vid, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the tips Dave and Bailey. New to farming, watched the gf's daughter fix a bailer clutch today. They ended up blowing belts hours later. I'm a machinist so definitely up for helping them get back online. We're in GP AB

I have a baler belt with a 2in tear if I put lacing in to repair it how much belt should I remove so I don't lengthen the belt
The splices don't add very much length, I'd say 1/2-3/4 of an inch. Good luck.
Great Video thank you. I'm relatively new at round baling and have never repaired or spliced a belt before. What do you do when you have a 14" belt? I have Vermeer rebel 5400 and it has 2 - 14" belts and 2 - 6" belts. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for a great video
You can use a 12" splice and 2" from a second splice strip, you would have to crimp them in 2 steps. Thanks for watching!

Where you buy these clips and what are they called. All I can find id the riveting clips
I believe they are called "Clipper" fasteners, you can search A&I Products for a dealer near you. They are part number 01279, you will need the vice lacing tool to use them. Thanks for watching!
Ive used the same tool to spice belts for 15 yrs. But you failed to use the small tin strip to " totally " crimp the spices deep into the belt. That tin pieces is there for a reason and it must be use only in the center of the vice since the vise can only apply pressure to the center equally . Its slides along taking only about 5 slices at a time. To spice a belt properly takes time !
With the tool and vice I have the lacing is fully penetrating the belt and curling the end a touch on the other side. Thanks for watching!

Do you know the part number for the tool and the pins that run through both ends?
I get the pins as a 25 foot roll of plastic coated cable from A&I Products part # 1700071, the tool comes in 7 or 10 inch part # 1001446 or 1001450.

The company I deal with is only in US and Canada, try some farm supply stores or tractor and machinery dealers in your area.
You forgot to use the sliding crimping shim to set the hooks.
To square them up with the edge?
The little black sliding shim on the inside of the lacer. You are supposed to crimp then re-crimp with the shim, moving it an inch at a time across your lacing. In the video it's the little black thing you put your thumb on when showing what a lacer looks like.
