- On October 27, 2017, BAFTA Los Angeles honored Claire Foy with the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year presented by Burberry. John Lithgow was there in person to pay tribute to his The Crown co-star.

Gosh, she's fantastic. I also loved the fact that she shouted out Dick van Dyke about his accent because I've always felt bad that people have made fun of him about that for the past 50 years. I can't yet call her one of the greatest actresses of our time because other than "The Crown" she hasn't done too much work that people have seen, but I can't wait to watch her career and see what else she does, because who knows, maybe someday she will be one of the greatest.

She is so humble, yet talented...I watched her years ago, on Little Dorrit, and I searched it recently by watching the series on Brit Box. But I haven't watched The Crown yet until I really had a time and finishing two seasons in 1.5 weeks. Amazing, her acting is accurate and incredible.

I was sad that she won't play the Queen in the upcoming season of The Crown, but upon finding out it was Olivia Colman who will replace her I am at ease now. Claire has made her name shine brighter with her amazing acting on the two seasons she had spent in The Crown, and with that too I feel relaxed and look forward to her other works from now on.

You know what I find incredibly weird? America has the BAFTAS, a BRITISH award show, in America, where they will only give awards to Brits. They also give awards to "foreigners" at the Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, Tonys, pretty much any award show, but you never see other countries giving awards to outsiders, let alone Americans. Kristen Stewart was the first person to win a French Oscar in 2015 (how she did that with her talent less self, I will never understand, but that's beside the point). I know America is the center of the film industry and so it makes sense for their award-giving to be more widespread, but it kind of irks me that we extend our hand out to foreigners at these award shows and they don't do the same. I'm not even ultra-American either, it's just...irksome.

I think some people view it in a similar way to the Black Entertainment Television Awards. Sort of like Whites/Americans already have enough awards and they haven't included us enough in the past so we'll give out our own and they're not invited. Not saying I necessarily agree with the sentiment btw.
There are also the Golden Globes, which are given by the Hollywood Foreign Press...so no Americans can vote. They're notoriously easy to buy though.
