This is great--this video inspired me as a child, and now I'm a professional composer. The guy in this video makes tutorials now, and I was in the middle of watching one and Googled his name and really, really surprised to find he's the guy who inspired me in the first place!
that is awesome! Do you know if he has a youtube? Yes, me too I was always facinated every time a show like this would go behind the seens and show you the synths and equipment and I also make music now! I was always the kid in class who, whenever there was a movie playing in the classroom I would care more about how the VCR worked instead of paying atension to the movie lol
It's cool to see how many other people were inspired by this. I still remember seeing this when I was about 10 and having my mind blown. It was one of those clouds opening in the sky moments and I knew it's what I wanted to do with my life. Now over 30 years later here I am doing just that 😜
is that a fairlight CMI?!? Damn my generation is so spoiled I am sitting in front of what he has same setup only its the modern version, I7 pc running fl studio, krk speakers, a piano controller, and the "typewriter style keyboard" lmao Ironically the typewriter keyboard is a gaming rainbow one. This video can still be relevant for teaching today. This guy 1ups me with his CMI at least it has a touch screen monitor!
It's a Fairlight CMI. They were really popular back in the day, but expensive. It's most famous for popularizing the "orchestra hit" sample. It used 8" floppy disks to hold the samples. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairlight_CMI
@@JakeHambyZ80 it was used on art of noise's moments in love, tears for fear shout, and by the pet shop boys to name a few. The desplay is most likely custum hardware. (prepriatary) word I can never spell

Saw this for the first time today, super inspiring!
I don't think he expected to inspire a stranger who randomly found his video on CZcams in 2023!
In case you don’t recognize it this is a Fairlight
thats what I thought!
Thanks for posting this!! This segment inspired me so much as a child, it's a huge part of the reason I am who I am today. SO great to see it again!
This is a long segment. Kids must have had longer attention spans back then.
I got chills. Thank you for making such a positive impact on the world!
I remember playing The Oregon Trail on the computer in the library
I think this person along with Levar Burton should know that some of these sound effects were in Disney movies.
This is amazing!

I remember watching this show on PBS. But I'm it's on CZcams.

This man.
Is insane.
This inspired me as well !!!!
Madman Marz brought me here.
His demeanor reminds me of a kind therapist. :)
Did he also do that song at the end of the Best Friends episode (season 5 episode 8)?
Would love to know what computer and display he's using. Pretty cool bit of retro tech too. Thanks for the upload!

What onomatopoeia would you use to describe the sound of dead silence?
so true
Wonder if part of this segment was edited when RR changed its intro tune in 2001m
Surprisingly no :)
which episode is this?
that guy is as high as I am.
What drug is this guy on?
He's high on books man.
Sounds like he may have been inspired by Kraftwerk's "Boing Boom Tschak" at the end there
Touch screen back then tooo??? Wow.... NOT so primitive after all... Screen is still black and white tho.
I know- I was gonna say- I had NO idea they had touch screens back in the day! God I love technology...
@@FireMinstrel yeah and me struggling to hunt down a touch monitor for my computer there so expensive it sucks.
And then Sesame Street did this with Herbie Hancock not even 2 years later…
Not the same thing man lol
@@TrunxKraft3000 Same instrument, so yes, it is the same thing.
