what you say is true brother.. for a comfortable life in Chennai, 1L is required for a family man.. may be sometimes even that will come short.. rent itself around 20K with maintenance for a 2bhk in a decent locality with schools nearby. weekends outing alone will come 3k every time.. so 15k for weekends alone in a month. Electricity bill due to full AC comes minimum 7k per month (2 ACs running most of the day). Apart from this groceries, car and bike maintenance, petrol, taxes.. after all these hardly 20k around remains on hand which we can save or will vanish if we go native or any long drives

People in the video are expressing their perspectives and it depends upon their lifestyle. It varies from person to person. I am earning 43k, living in the rent house only in north Chennai. Rent is taken care by brother (8k). Paying 16000 EMI for PL. Groceries and household around 10000. 2500 petrol, 5000 sip, 1000 lic. Investing balance amount in stock market. If you don't have any debts, staying in own house means, 20-25k is enough for a month.

Im born and brought up in Chennai. To be frank its a good city in terms of living & expenditure compared to Mumbai or Bangalore or Delhi. But nowadays driving on Chennai roads has become so fearful due to the following reasons.
    1. No driving sense especially 2 wheelers and auto drivers and sometimes even buses.
    2. Traffic rules not followed properly. Wrong side romeo's in majority
    3. Signals are just for namesake
    4. Even school kids are driving scooters and taking scooters to schools. Big mistake from parents.
    5. City roads are also dug frequently and high quality of roads is much needed to drive
    6. Finally the mutual respect from humans on roads.
Hoping for some charm back and lot of improvement in and around the city. ##Chennaite forever

40000 rupees is approximately 500 USD. Nowhere in the world you can live a metro city life for that money. But then this amount is to meet the very basic needs of life. Recently my friend built a small apartment complex in the center of chennai. The 2000 sq.ft 3 BHK apartment rent per month is 50,000 rupees. I am living in chennai for the past one year and yes chennai is expensive,I am living in a 1bhk apt for which rent is 20k per annum and electric bill for two months ranges from 500 to 3000 and if u need to watch a movie it costs 500 per movie and because of traffic u have to fill petrol once a week for atleast 200,and if u go for groceries and snacks and other things like getting food from hotels it all comes around another 20k.so only if u earn 60k per month u can survive in chennai.all the above things is for a bachelor...then what happens if u have a family😮😮😮

In comparison with the other metro cities Chennai is an Angel city. Among outsiders that too people from rural areas who can't earn much but to pay much for everything Chennai is a paradise because while they pay much for everything they can earn good money too. North Indians are pouring in for this reason.

Seems 'Madras' is almost kicked out of usage..Madras - derived from 'Madrasapattinam' a tamil fishing village which thrived centuries before the entry of British is not an European or English name. It's a tamil name while chennai derived from 'chennapattnam' is actually a telugu name, chenna means good or fair in telugu while there is no word called chennai in tamil lexicon. Also a 14th century stone inscription found in Peneeswaramadam, Krishnagiri clearly states there was a town by name 'Madarasapattinam'' captured by Kampana king. Just as Kovai used for Coimbatore, Madras from Madarasapattinam is just an abbreviation, not an English name. The city name should be reversed back to Madras & correct the historical mistake. Kindly start an online platform to bring people together for the name change.
