If they're actually a YG Stan they will notice that Treasure's song has a mixed feelings of all YG's group. Coming from a YG Stan perspective. There's a vibe of winner at the beginning to bridge, 2nei1/blackpink vibe on the chorus and dance break, and before the party part where in hyunsuk and haruto is rap singing is like ikon and of course bigbang esp at the end.

Actually, their pre-debut song Going Crazy was the one that sounded like a non-YG style 🤣 this one is a very YG style. That party anthem at the latter part of the song is something that's always present in any song released by YGE as long as it's an upbeat song. But of course, YG Artists never stick to one genre so it's not surprising that they have almost all types of music. I loved this song from the first time I heard it. I didn't need it to grow on me. Kekeke. But yeah, everyone has different preferences.

@@user-jh5lk9fb5k yeah well that's not a bad thing 😅 also Mino can produce upbeat or hip-hop songs too. And he made it together with Future Bounce so obviously, the whole decision was not up to him. It's just that Going Crazy was made for the purpose of it as a signal song so it doesn't need to go hard. Signal songs are usually light and public friendly.
I don’t know what people expect but to me they have the “YG vibe” to them. A debut that’s like a comeback, an anthem at the end of the song, their swag, great rapping skills, power vocals, great dancing skills(YES, YG artists are great dancers too. It just doesn’t show), performers that know how to play on stage and etc. Now YGE has so many artist that have different styles to them and you can really tell that they don’t stick to just one type of genre when releasing a song. I also think that it’s YG artists diversity of their song that people forget that YGE is a Hiphop company. So when YGE announced that TREASURE is finally gonna debut it will be like idk how to explain this, but something like a cute youthful boys with great smooth vocals and some good dance choreo. But then we got BOY opposite of their song Going crazy. So yeah, we don’t really know what to expect from YG artists cause every comebacks of theirs is different.
Treasure really practiced hard for this debut,the dance is lit,the live vocals is Eargasm,and the mv is fire.

I honestly never heard a negative comment about Boy saying that it is not impressive (except for those few who pointed out that the chorus has the same instrumental with HYLT; which is fine by many and if ppl be hatin' the song for that reason, they might as well hate literally 60% of the trendy songs,,,, smh). Everyone, especially the skoreans were very well receptive of it, especially having the background knowledge of YG's past groups. It'd kinda take long to explain all that errs, but yeah...

Honestly I think the reasons people say they didn’t “like it” , I think it might be that we got so much content that highlights their vocals . That maybe they where hoping for something “vocal focused” you can say??
In my opinion I absolutely love this song! Sure it doesn’t super highlight their voice , but it shows their versatility, in being able to do a hard choreography, pumped up song & they have their whole careers ahead of them to show different sides of them , that we’ve been able to catch a glimpse of in their videos

Starting from that “visual group” concept, and I believe they want their music to be “more trendy” bc YG boy groups are usually closer to hiphop (thats why some people including me think Boy doesn’t really sound like a YG song except for the finale chant part which is YG groups signature). The reason why some people don’t feel the YG vibes is that YG wanted to try something new that they haven’t done before. Making Treasure was a lot of risk since they want to produce Treasure in a different way breaking their typical style. They would know if they know Treasure.

I’m actually a YG stan and a Treasure Stan. I’ve been waiting for Treasure since YG Treasure Box (YG’s survival show 2 years ago). And I really satisfy with this debut song I love it so much. I don’t understand why people think it’s not YG style or just because they have a lot of members in YG history group? The overall of this mv is totally YG even non-yg stan still feel the vibe. Specially the ending part. In this music video, YG add more cheerful vibe because Treasure’s concept is teen crush. YG makes Treasure as a performance group (at this point every yg artists are the best performer) but for Treasure, YG want to make them as a powerful dance group too(This is sth new to YG). Btw Treasure still has that charisma vibe (the signature of yg) and added more cheerful vibe at the same time. It’s really suitable with them at their age.

I think those people who were saying that they do not like the song, they were expecting Treasure to release a hard hiphop song like most of their seniors. The song is quite different from most debut songs under YG as it's more on the pop side instead of hiphop. They are all so young, with the youngest at 15years old. Thus, they debuted with a fresher and brighter concept.
Also, others were just being blind on them as they are from YG. Those who were not satisfied were not Treasure Makers who waited for them for the past 2 years.
These boys have worked so hard for them to debut. Yedam even trained for 8years and patiently waited that long. He was the one in white hoodie and who did the falsetto that you mentioned. Please check out his solo, Wayo. It is sooooo good. It was a pre-debut song for Treasure and also a gift to his fans who waited for him for so long since he was 10years old after placing 2nd on Kpop Star 2 in 2012.
Treasure's choreography is definitely on fire. It's the first time YG produced a huge-numbered group with synchronized choreography.
