    I don't know much about Meijer but I think they are not as likely to close stores. Great find!

    I commented a few years ago about the building being painted white in 2020. I was wrong, this was the color scheme when it was originally the Value City Department Store from the 1990s up until 2008. Very odd decision to just scrape the paint away, but I digress. The space is currently a Jungle of Niles.
    Did you know this used to be a Kmart, and later a Builder's Square in the 80s?

    strange to see a closed Meijer. I really like that place

      This was a smaller type store that was more focused on groceries. There was another nearby that closed that was like this. Otherwise Meijer is doing very well in the area.

    Yo this was meijer. I worked at the bakery from 2015 to 2016. It closed in june I think of 2016. I lived behind that store. The bakery was on the right with the deli. The access door was further right with a shity security camera. A few doors down was a chinese restaurant, a little store ran by a syrian man, the hair salon and that weird movie theater

      Yeah. They're based in Michigan and doing quite well. I prefer these over Wal-Mart any day. A lot of people get these confused with Fred Meyer which are owned by Kroger.

    • @mallaholicretailadventures
      @mallaholicretailadventures  Před 5 lety +4

      Actually somebody told me it was a value city department store, then it was an experimental Meijer marketplace store that just sold groceries. It didn't work out, but Meijer is doing well in the Chicago area. It's my goto store.

  • @spambuddyboy
    @spambuddyboy Před 3 lety +1

    Meijers aren’t too common in this area. Plus there’s an almost comical amount of supermarkets in the area. This Meijer just had misfortune of entering an over saturated local and lack of name recognition in the area.

    • @mallaholicretailadventures
      @mallaholicretailadventures  Před 3 lety +2

      I guess this was just an essentials store. Not a full blown one, but in the far suburbs these do very well.

  • @pilotgrrl1

    • @mallaholicretailadventures
      @mallaholicretailadventures  Před 5 lety +3

      This and a few other stores were marketplace stores. This was a failed experiment. Otherwise Meijer is doing very well.
