  • In this video I will show you how to flash the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge with Tasmota and how to integrate it straight into Home Assistant using ZHA. The Sonoff Zigbee Bridge is a very nice little Zigbee hub for the money, its small, cheap and its excellent for 3rd party firmware like Tasmota. Tasmota is an open source firmware that allows you to control your esp8266 based devices quickly, easily and locally.

There seems to be issues with the latest version (9.3.0+) of Tasmota which are the current latest releases, which is causing disconnects of either the bridge itself from Wifi or sometimes devices are dropping off.
I'm using version 9.1.0 in this video and has been absolutely flawless, I suggest using this version instead of the latest at the moment till the issues are sorted, I will try to update this in future when newer releases are safe again.

I can agree to this. I had a reboot loop with version 9.3.1
This version will be downloaded automatically when you use tasmotizer. Meanwhile you can find the latest version 9.3.1.3 and it works perfectly.
Just switch to development in tasmotizer.

Hi - can you confirm what firmware and ncp-uart files you used to get this working? I have tried just now with latest version in Tasmotizer (10.1.0) and ncp-uart-sw_6.7.8_115200.ota, but when I flash the latter using the over-the-air firmware uploader, it says "invalid file signature". I have tried resetting and reflashing tasmota from scratch, I get the same thing over and over. I thought the latest version of Tasmota zbbridge firmware was a problem, but noticed you posted this in the last day so wondered how you got it working? Thanks in advance!

Is it better to stay with the Sonoff Hub (without flashing) or Flash . I have 10 child devices (including 2 routers) on the Sonoff Hub (plus many Sonoff's on WiFi) and other than an occasional device falling asleep , works well . They all come together in HA where I also have a Conbee II with deCONZ and Aqara devices. What I miss is in Sonoff is the network mesh , available in deCONZ but then the eWelink App shows all the devices , even when I am out of my home network . Is there any significant performance advantages to flash with Tasmota ? I am also in two minds whether to move all the Zigbee devices to deCONZ . Your thoughts will be appreciated !!

      Hey Mohan,
That's a tough question to answer! If your happy with what you have now then I'd be inclined to just say to stick to what you have, however having never used the eWelink app myself (I always flash straight away) it's hard for me to say. Does the eWelink app require internet connectivity to work? If so then that would be an advantage of using Tasmota!

      1. Sonoff zigbee devices do not function properly under ewelink. See snzb-03 example, while under Tasmota in HA same devices work flawlessly...
      2. You never know when the Chinise cloud stops crashing, and it never does so far..
      3. Device limit gone
      4. You can have devices of different manufacturers on single network

hi, first i was not able to connect with bridge as per the jumpers arrangement. Then came to a reddit discussion where many people advised to connect Z_RST to GRD as well in addition to GPIO0. I am able to flash successfully this way , tasmota AP appears, i can connect and enter my wifi ap details. bridge can connect to my router and i can access it with IP. the problem i am facing is that it is constantly connecting and disconnecting to router , normally both LEDs on bridge are off but every 20- 30 LED1-Zigbee (green) on bridge blink and then LED2-Wifi (blue) starts blinking, meaning its disconnected to router and then it connects again but few moments later again LED1-zigbee blink and LED2-wifi also starts blinking and bridge is disconnected from router again. I cant proceed further with flashing zigbee chip. I tried falshing bridge several times but same happnings....can anyone help whats wrong am i doing?

@@EverythingSmartHome I wanted to update to 6.7.8 because I am an update freak and want the latest firmware most of the times (as long as it works of course). In this case, I took into consideration the changelog for 6.7.6 that said "contains a bug that can cause battery of IKEA and Philips remotes to drain". So, since I have 2 IKEA and 2 Hue remotes in my home, I thought it would be better to get on the 6.7.8 version. But the upload fails constantly and maybe this is due to the Tasmota version I installed (9.3.1).
As you say in your pinned comment the latest versions have issues and it is advisable to flash a previous version (you recommend 9.1 while others say that 9.2 is fine too). So, the question is: in order to downgrade to Tasmota 9.1 will I have to go through the same flashing process as in your video (USB flasher, cables and all)? Should I download a previous version and choose that .bin file to flash the ZB Bridge with?
Edit: I went to "Configure template" page via the Tasmota UI, I changed the Template parameters "Based on" from "Generic (18)" to "Sonoff ZbBridge (75)" and I was able to upgrade my firmware to the "ncp-uart-sw-6.7.8_115200.ota".

Good video ! But I think that the Sonoff ZB bridge with tasmota is probably the worst Zigbee experience comparing to other solutions (I tried many : zigate, conbee, z2m, SLS, xiaomi gw v2, v3, ...).
I find the UI poor, the pairing hard, the events limiteds, the compatibility bad. I’m not a fan of zha too...
But with the big tasmota community it will getting better in the futur.
My advice is always to test SLS gateway : it is probably the easiest , most powerful and the best Zigbee gateway but it suffers of a lack of notoriety due to the fact that the russian author of this project doesn’t make efforts to make it famous outside Russia. Make a try, you will not be disappointed 😉
