Get a mate like Magnus. He had a crazy advantage and was continuously asking Pete if he was okay because he had a climbing trip coming up and didn’t want his ripped calluses to ruin it. That’s such a good person, respect!
I think petes observation 'its interesting that skin goes out before fatigue' is spot on as we have still ape skeletons and joints designed for hanging. It's amazing how these athletes explore the limits of what is possible with the human body. Props to all of you

@@average.yt.commenter609 It could be that skin thickness change was more necessary and advantageous than bone structure changes, or that bone structure changes/mutates slower than other organs like skin do, also yeah, we are not same species, we just share ancestors with apes, ancestors that were part arboreal, with their ancestors being completely arboreal, so its a gradual change adapting to different ways of surviving, like, sure its an ape skeleton which is good for hanging, but still probably the worst out of all the great apes at hanging for a long time.

i dont know how far your willing to go but at this point i am very curious to see where the real limit of pete is. To me it seems absolutely impossible to hang for over an hour and then DECIDE its enough cause consequences start to appear, you want to safe your skin for the next thing + take time to casually prepare for the fall by stripping.

I love how Magnus was really fighting for Pete to let go in order to save his skin and climbing trip. He knows about his competitiveness and therefore kept negotiating with him, like "I can let go to make it more fun for the video", or "How 'bout we just both let go at the same time at the 1 hour mark". Magnus has to be one of the most caring and genuinely decent people on CZcams. I started climbing about 4 months ago mainly because of him and I intend to keep going at it. I know Magnus probably won't read this, but if he will: Much, much love, brother! ❤

For those curious, the world record dead hang was set in Nov 2022 by Kenta Adachi (35) at 1hr 20min 41sec.

The italian butterfly has a youtube video of him doing 2 hours and 22 minutes.
This isn't a dead hang though so I don't rlly see the connection.
Apparently the world record for what they are doing is at least 2 hours and 20 minutes or smth so more than double of what he was able to do.

@Bbouy1HD lol it doesn't cuz when you're light your muscles are, guess what, also light 😅. Someone who's heavier but also fit has more muscles in proportion to be able to lift their body so even though they're heavier their muscles are also stronger to be able to lift their weight. Plz stop minimising hard work when it comes to bodyweight exercises. It's hard to discipline your own body at any weight/ size. They did great it was hard end of story.
Hazal and Stani!!!!! What the actual hell! I've been exercising for years and I dead hang weekly at the gym, my limit is just like 2 minutes and a bit, slightly above Callum. Loved seeing it, really, really impressive. This goes to show that strength can present itself in many ways and you don't have to look like a monster to be freakishly strong. I'm honestly so impressed.

Bodyweight makes a disproportionate difficulty when doing anything hanging. So women, by virtue of having low bodyweight, actually have quite good hang strength, relatively. its why the difference between men and women isn't actually that much for the best of the best climbers.

Pete said that the skin gave up before the muscle.... implying he wasn't done yet.... i wonder how much longer he could go on with climbing tape or gloves to help preserving the skin.... if he didn't have to work and could rest for days later, could he do 2 hrs? more? truly a beast!

i dont know if tape will do it. its not like a cut. in the end the skin has to take the beating. if you have tape there, the skin will go off with the tape.
The tape doesn’t help here. The skin will start going inside the tape. Skin sweats starts becoming soft
The skin on a professional climber's hands is a different animal. More like pads of skin. They can peel off whole like a callus and that's bad news.

The moment Storror collabed with Pete I knew it was just matter of time until Magnus would show up, and I'm extremely happy we live in a era that there is no more limits for collaborations, it's just great vibes and awesome fun content.
People, it was 5 years ago today when Max and Benj tearfully announced the end of Storror in the wake of youtube demonetisation and signed on for government benefits. Callum was applying for a job stacking shelves in a British supermarket. It's still a moving video to watch even now, heartbreaking for younger fans, but look how they've turned it around!

The fact Pete did all that while pretty much leaving his fingers completely intact for climbing was amazing.
@@luckyspurs The skin of their hands/fingers seems to be a fairly regular limiting factor for top level climbers. It's not an uncommon topic of discussion when you get them collaborating.

Pete's the man. Guinness male record is almost 81 minutes. I think he could have come close if he had no regard for the future
The longest duration in the dead hang position is 80 min 41 sec, and was achieved by Kenta Adachi (Japan) in Shunan, Yamaguchi, Japan, on 18 November 2022.
If Pete specialised in doing this he could break the record easily but it's not worth ruining his hands
The crazy thing is that it was without shaking out his arms. I'm not sure what the record is with shaking or if there is an official one but the Italian butterfly tazio il biondo has a video on his channel of almost 2 and 1/2 hours of doing it this way.

I didn't know any of this until googling the record the guy above stated. Both of those records are equally insane and I have no idea how someone could accomplish them.
I love Magnus constantly trying to make sure the video is as entertaining as possible. He has such a creator mindset, it's so wholesome how much he cares about the audience and the craft of making videos.
He is a machine for studying what works best on CZcams, while still not doing anything that he wouldn't do otherwise.

These guys make me so happy. Ive never seen friendship and encouragement like that before. Its like i didn't know it was possible. I feel so much better when i get some of that vibe in the middle of a difficult life. Life can be dangerous overwhelming and baffling. If we have a positive outlook and trust in our skills and abilities we can do what makes us amazing to ourselves.

Everybody was incredible, what a video. What a collab. I’ve wanted to see magnus and storror for a while and this was incredible. Hazal and Stani absolutely crushed it. And pete is a legend among legends, i don’t think he fatigues, who strips on the bar before choosing to let go….. after an HOUR AND FOUR MINUTES.
