Mid drive is better than a hub drive because the mid drive gives you more torque and higher performance. I think if ur gonna get a mid drive motor you should get the lectric X Premium. search it up
Okay in truth mid drive is basically a motor made for torque so if you’re planning on making a low power system about 1500w or lower than mid drive smokes hub motors in terms of performance and compactness, but if you plan to make anything from the 2000w-8000w range then generally a geared hub motor is preferable unless you can get a really good midrive kit that is meticulously tuned. A good example is bbhsd most popular mid drive kit will basically melt at anything over 1500w while a 1000w hub drive motor can pull upwards of 3000w and generally will be fine as long as you give it cool down time.
Keep in mind that mid drive bikes require frequent shifting gears, which can be difficult for newer e-bike riders (and street riding that calls for stop-and-go in traffic), and if the shifting is not done properly, it can cost more to make repairs to mid-drives than hub drives. That being said, mid drives handle hills better because of their superior torque.
