  • @justinh_13BS
    @justinh_13BS Před 2 lety +9

    “Power of the transmission?” What do you mean by that? The different modes affect shift speeds, etc., not power which is produced/controlled by the engine. I would think that having the suspension in track would not allow weight to transfer as well as opposed to a softer setting when drag racing. When I’m on a road course I set everything to track and then turn all of the nannies off. As to why anyone would want to use sport mode; it’s a good compromise between street/track on a daily driven car. Steering is lighter with some feedback, transmission doesn’t try to slam you into oblivion when it shifts, doesn’t stay in the lower gears as long, suspension gives a little, and you still get a good exhaust note.

    I save a ton of gas in sport, just get to a coast then ease off the gas and on the highway I get like 28-30 mpg. And for roll races I fine sport to be better as well cause Track doesn’t hit 8th gear. I don’t downshift with the paddles I use the shifter then slap it back to auto and those are my best rolls hands down

    Have to be 💯with you. I watch your videos all the time and not throwing any shade, but when you go through all the modes on the car, make sure they are officially locked in. At 9:50 you activated Track mode, but didn't look at your screen. You were still in sport mode because your screen was telling you "track mode currently unavailable". I don't know if anyone else caught it, but I did. It wasn't until you slowed down from the pull the Track mode was activated. You can also turn your traction back on while in track mode, and invest in some 315 or 335 tires for wider grip. I have a Widebody and have minimal to no spin when launching (2000-2600 rpms). Good video though.

    The traction control restricts power to the wheels so they don't spin, so you saying it's giving you everything the car has in that mode is a misleading statement. Less TC = more power to the wheels. Just don't stomp on the pedal, ease into the throttle and eventually floor it.

  • @1AlteredEgo
    @1AlteredEgo Před 10 dny

    Maybe I'm just old school, but using traction control in every instance will potentially hurt your performance. Running a "better" set of rear tires will allow you to put more of the power to the road without spinning or using traction control. When you get accustom to the way your vehicle responds to good tires, you can feather the throttle to keep from spinning. All that being said, there is a reason why they have named the different modes what they have. Yon cannot expect a daily driven road or parking lot to be well "prepped". The ONLY place you can expect a prepped surface is at the actual track...hence the "Track" mode. Not sure I see the "secret Hack" here...

      @@keeganjacobs5913 yes if you put it in street mode it will pull Some of the power out because it’s hold it back some, if you put it in sport mode, it will allow more power, and it will hold back less, and if you put it in track and will hold back even less and allow more power, probably the most, unless you hold down the traction button and completely shut it off then you’ll have all the power with nothing holding back but it’ll be a higher chance for spinning, personally I like it in sport you get a little of both plenty of power with a little bit of hold it back, but I like my traction in sport right in the middle. I like my transmission in track all the time because I don’t drive over 100 miles an hour, I like the whole power down low and the quick transmission gearshifting. Full tilt on launch control you get a brief spin from all 4 tires and that's it. Very easy to deal with and gas mileage sucks either way so....track mode it is. 😂😂

    Dude u know u offer some really good info but you really don’t know about your car and what the different modes actually offer you. Sport mode is good for when you are on an open highway maybe w some winding turns and you want to have fun and enjoy the power of your car in sport mode and really take advantage of the sport mode suspension n steering. That’s what sport mode is used for. Track mode is simply used for the track and when you’re on the street and u wanna have some fun w your car. Big sport mode is for exactly what I said. If your in traffic or a light to light kinda road and you looking to save gas and just chill you should
    Have your car in eco mode.

  • @moparmade392
    @moparmade392 Před 2 lety +2

    You mentioned how the transmission is effected by the different modes and how the traction is effected but the electronic stability control system is also effected by changing modes. In sport mode it allows you to get crazy and do donuts etc without losing control. In track mode ESC is almost non-existent. Also, track mode has a top end mph limit and once you eclipse that speed it starts to damage the transmission. Basically there's no way you should ever be doing 130mph in track mode.

      You do know the naturally aspirated 6.4l v8 or 392 is capable of a top speed of 180 if you have a straight away long enough there is no way you should cap at 130 track mode period you should be able to push it in track mode and be fine over 130 they’re legit built for the track

    When you are in a Sport Mode, it disables M.D.S. If you are keeping your MDS on most of the time if not all of the time, in a long run, after 70K - 100K+ ( that's when people start noticing problems with their engine) one sometimes all 4 variable MDS lifters collapse and because of that, they are shaving off cam lobes that are underneath those 4 MDS lifters. I think Dodge knew that people would want to have an option where they can turn M.D.S. off, so they kind of gave it to the people in a weird way.

      @@lonzobee M.D.S. stands for Multi-Displacement System, it disables 4 cylinders, so you can get a slightly higher gas mileage. The problem with M.D.S. is that this system tends to fail, like a lot. It is a well known and extremely costly problem in dodge vehicles and it has been like that for almost a decade. I'm not going to go all engineering here why it happens and what it does to the engine, but if you thinking about getting yourself a Dodge product and keeping it for many years to come, find a way to disable it and keep it disabled the second you get yourself a dodge vehicle.

In a long run your engine will thank you for taking care of it (driving on all 8 cylinders all the time). As it goes for your transmission, sure your shift points will be slightly rougher, but your transmission (ZF 8HP70) can take it. ZF 8HP70 transmission is incredibly reliable and strong, that is why it is used in many other cars like Alfa Romeo, Alpina, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Chrysler, Dodge of course and many other well known car brands.
