Great write up Azdin
Love this call back to the N64! The developer had an AMA on reddit yesterday, and explained how they dove into researching and learning about how N64 games were designed in making this game. And it is great to hear the developer has nailed the movement, since they said it was an incredibly important concern for them in designing a 3D platforming game. Considering it was one of their first (if not their very first) 3D game, sounds like the developer will improve with time as they work on their next project! Happy for them that they were able to make such a great platformer.
I love when developers do this on Reddit, thanks for pointing this out, I’m going to search for that AMA post!
@@melaniapina6368 it should still be on the front-page of r/NintendoSwitch! It's great getting insight into games!
They've nailed that N64 look. Takes me right back to the 90's.
Again, I love how you guys are always reviewing the smaller, indie game releases on Switch. Thank you, it is often so hard to find reviews for some games and your reviews are always fair. This looks so cute, might need to pick this one up 🎉
So many games I only knew of because of SwitchUP
Switchup is the goat
I wish more games experimented with art styles like this. More art and graphic variety would be great.
Its like a cool little sypro like game! Looks good, the backlog cant handle it though
Yeah I feel that sentiment! Mark
Yeah I thought Spyro the whole time
I think I’ll be picking this one up. Those n64 visuals fill me with nostalgic warm and fuzzy feelings. Thanks for the top review folks! Probably never would have even noticed this game if you hadn’t done this!
If you hadn’t reviewed this, I never even would have heard of it. Gonna check it out. Good job supporting smaller devs. There are so many shovelware games on online stores, I would have missed it. Wish Nintendo highlighted it too. Thanks again.
N64 Nostalgia!!! I grew up in the 90’s, so this has a really nostalgic feel for me
This music with the background nature noises is such a nice touch, I love it! And the retro 3d style is so charming ❤️ price is nice too, how to resist?
Can all your videos have the nice sounds of nature in the background please? 😂
😂
Great video, I'll have to add it to my shrinking wishlist as I work through the ol' backlog!
Moment I saw you gents cover this I immediately showed this to the misses and we had such a great time recalling all those N64 games of yore (i.e. Super Mario 64, Star Fox 64, DK 64, Zelda: OoT & MM, etc.). As always thanks so much to you both (and Azdin of course!!!) for the trip down memory lane and this will definitely make it’s way into out collection! 🎉
Really enjoyed hearing the pair of you go over the review. I think its the way forward.
thanks so much for this great review! what exactly are the camera control issues?
After playing through the Tomb raider remasters recently. There is no “bad camera” I will ever struggle to handle again
WTF is this game , u don’t even have collect everything to beat this game , this game has like total of 7 levels but u can easily beat this game with only 3 levels , and there is post content , so I don’t think there is no extra bonus levels or any extra cutscenes if u collect everything, that makes the game look more worse if u collecting everything without any post content in the game!!!
I love these throwbacks to the games of the old but do feel if I'm feeling nostalgic then nothing actually beats the originals. May need to go back to Banjo soon.
I’ll wait for a physical, it looks right up my alley, so cute!
Thanks for the review guys!
TBH I slap a like on these videos before I watch them, they’re guaranteed to be entertaining and interesting. Haven’t been disappointed yet!
meaningless then
@@gregevigan I hope you find something that brings you joy in your life.
Appreciate it! Mark
@@nickjones4455 lots of things do but thank you for your concern.
Let's make them earn the likes guy! Lol jk
That nostalgia hit me in the gut! I’m definitely getting this day one
Yeah, teaming up is probably the way to go on the reviews you don't do yourselves, since 1) the videos you do together are the best to begin with, and B) it's a good way to further differentiate them from the ones you do yourselves. Never been much of a Nintendo Life fan, but the one thing they do that I really like is adding their own commentary at the end if they've also played the game in the review they're adapting to video. So adding your own impressions might be something to also consider when/where applicable in the farmed out reviews?
Yeah for sure. I think they only review like 1 of 50 games themselves now though so we've always got so much more on our plates and not always able to get enough codes to try it ourselves. In an ideal world though. Mark
Wow this takes me back, reminds me of the game croc! Looks awesome
I love 3D platformers, espec with fantasy settings like this! Woo! Can't wait to play this one! :D
Great review. Looks so charming 😍
I love this game and i like how challenging it is. Still trying to find world 3 lol and my first heart piece. Just wish it was a little more polished but considering this is an indie game its incredible.
I didn’t even know this existed. Gonna pick this one up cause I have a huge soft spot in my heart for the 3D platformers of the 90s.
Interesting, it does look a charming one and transports you back to a simpler time 😊
I actually love these graphics. Y’all always post gems.😊
Finally a n64 game not on NSO after all these years
This looks great I love super kiwi 64 and all those little throw back indie titles
Looks like a fun little game that nailed the N64 aesthetics. I absolutely loved Donkey Kong 64, so anything like that is welcome. And I don't mind the focus on puzzles, as long as they don't require pixel perfect platforming to solve. 3D platforming can never be pixel perfect, we humans don't work that way!
I’m reliving memories of Banjo Kazooie with this game!
This game looks like a beautiful melding of Spyro and Klonoa. Spyro for the obvious main character ties, but the atmosphere reminded me so much of Klonoa, being quite charming mostly with hints of a sinister undertone later on. Definitely my favourite kind of atmosphere, in games like Klonoa, Undertale or Gravity Rush that pull off that tone so well.
I see Spyro, Klonoa and Banjo Kazooie all rolled into one.
I haven’t played it yet, but one thing I did notice the worlds look somewhat barren in comparison to those 3 titles, hopefully after playing that is not the case because it looks like a game I would love!
Great work Azdin
Now we need a BnK remake now.
Would love to see Banjo Kazooie go multi-platform. Us PlayStation kids growing up never got to experience it!
My son once showed me a similar game on CZcams: Super Kiwi 64. Quite cheap by the way, never played it though.
This definitely gives me old N64 vibes. Not my cup 'o tea, but someone will enjoy this game's intriguing bits.
Baby Spyro! I think if it had the combat element it would practically be the same game
Always love the games that reminded me of my childhood.❤
I can’t remember weather banjo-kazooie had any combat, but I loved those games. Mind the collect-o-thon did get a touch tedious toward the end game. I’m one of those people who has to collect/take everything
It did , you were able to attack enemies in the game and the boss battles , in this game there isn’t any of that but this game is still worth it beside that
This looks like a lot of fun and should be a good game for nostalgic folks and perhaps kids.
Huge banjo kazooie vibes on this one! It's crazy how 64 graphics are making a comeback. Always felt that pixel style was timeless but the 64 style did not age well. Feel like that's changing though because I don't mind this
Direct hit right in the nostalgia
Definitely mate haha
Would have preferred it with updated graphics
Then it would have cost a lot more money
This looks really great for young kids as a first 3D platformer experience.
This is some dirty, FILTHY 90s nostalgia porn... and I bloody LOVE it!
Hahaha yeah I know 😂 . Mark
This and KIwi 64 are great . Better than some of the N64 games that came out. Keep Em coming
A cute looking game
I was sorta interested but the no combat thing …., not sure boys ???
I mean Banjo has combat , A Hat in time still seems the better option
Good review though and the price isn’t bad but not for me
yeah the lack of combat is a weird choice
Agreed
@@gregeviganit’s half a throwback to the N64 , correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure all N64 games had combat
And now I need the lads to do a video on their pick for combat free games.
@@erinsmith4416probably be Puzzle games
Looks like an N64 game and I love that!
I think this requires N64 nostalgia goggles. Graphics look to muddy for me.
This looks like spyro!
Fr
Spyro Kazooie
Almost looks like Conker or something😅
An eggcellent game!
why is this not on Xbox Series X ?
Cavern of Beanz 🫘
no more 5%+5% discount?!!!
It's a straight 5% cashback now I believe
The fact that this looks like a N64 game is not a compliment 😂
It’s intentional. Some of us like it.
No nostalgia for me, I completely missed the N64 era 😢
You know what, I’m the opposite. I much prefer modem games with modern graphics. As good as something like Goldeneye is, like epic, stuff like this feels like watching one of your old childhood cartoons again and you realise you’re no longer wearing those rose tinted glasses. 🤓
Ok, interesting. I think you guys reading a review is fine, however I disliked this one because it was a tad bit repetitive and also giving a bit more information in terms of names and places. The writer of the review really really really disliked the fact the game doesn't have combat Hahahahahaha hahahaha hahahaha Hahahahahaha.
Looking forward to your review 👍
@@mikeuk666 I'd be glad to but I don't have the game. Maybe some time in the future.
Ugly looking game
N64 style
I see you play games just for the graphics, u should go play ps5 games.
@@michaelcastoria nope I don't "play games just for the graphics". This looks ugly. the colour palette is muddy.
@@gregevigannow go back and watch N64 games...
No thank you
