    If you have a fat quarter - make the most of it, don't waste fabric! If the weights come up a little bigger then that's awesome!!! If they are not perfect squares - then that's great too! My students have made all sorts of shapes and sizes - key thing is to relax and enjoy the process ♥️🥰
    Note:
    Approximately
    1cm = ⅜”
    1” = 2.5cm
    If you’re sewing in cm, make your seam allowance 1cm, if inches make it 1/4” no one sews ⅜” seam allowance thats too fussy for a fun project like this ☺️
    1 fat quarter
    ½ fat quarter sized fusible interfacing
    900g 6mm ball bearings
    (6mm are a great size because domestic sewing machines struggle to stitch the weights closed without the bearings slipping out - trust me - you do not want tiny ball bearings slipping inside your machine! If 6mm aren't available - go bigger - & have a magnet handy to help catch those little buggers)
    If you have decided to make this from a larger sheet of fabric, the measurements of the starting piece is all you need - everything will fall into place as you cut and sew OR you should be able to work out the rest using the most of your fabric.
    Please don't worry about accuracy - Sewing is a therapy! Enjoy sewing - enjoy making and keep smiling!
    (I want to thank Fay from France for being so sweet and encouraging

      It is lovely isn’t it. It’s a Cath Kidston from a fat quarters stash that I have been hoarding for the last 5 or 6 years 🥴🥰

    So much appreciate the fact you don't have music blasting out! Nearly every video I view has some silly music blurring out and a person trying to talk over the music! LOVE THE VIDEO!

    I just discovered your channel because I bought a “new” overlocker (Janome 6234XL) on eBay. Love your little projects. I have been seeing for years - but never even heard of the magnetic seam guide till this video! Wow! So off to Amazon. Also treated myself to that little iron you have. I have been lugging my full size iron to do little jobs for YEARS! Thanks to you - NO MORE!!! 😂 you’re a life changer Abi 🥰🙏🌹

    thank you so much, I now have way too many of these, they're addictive to make, I used rice though. Hmm, I might even give them as juggling bags to my nephews!!😂

    Thank you. I’ve wanted some of these for ages. I know you can get them on eBay etc but now I can have my own customised ones. I didn’t think for a minute to make them 😄👍🏻

    Have fun making these x No, it’s okay! Magnets do not damage sewing machines, it’s junior school science 💕☺️ A quick demonstration - czcams.com/video/01eBmBix80k/video.html

    Abi, question please. I see your using a metal seam guide with your machine, that is digital, is this ok? In your opinion as I thought you weren’t supposed to use them on digital as the magnet can mess up your machine. They seem a lot easier to use than those plastic ones you get. Love your videos by the way.

    • @AngeVPV
      @AngeVPV Před 3 lety +1

      That part of the machine does not contain any "circuit" it is as manual as any other. It will not hurt a digital machine.

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  Před 3 lety +3

      Hey Marilyn, hi Ange. You need a magnet that can lift a car to damage these SDDs. I’ve heard a lot of dealers who sell or repair machines tell customers they shouldn’t use magnets near their machines … some even say they will damage the machine slowly over time 🙈 no. If a machine is going to get damaged, it would happen immediately. It really is high school science. Look here. £5000 demonstration czcams.com/video/01eBmBix80k/video.html

      Hi Katherine. This is a Prym steam mini iron. I haven’t linked it because there are so many small irons like this on the market now for a fraction of the price x
