- 96 degrees out. I figured it was time for some fresh cool water and a little help getting in. I guess the spinning pvc pipe helps them a little.
I couldn't count how many attempts they made to try and get to the middle of the pipe : ) I really wish i was that persistent in getting things done LOL

There was one shot where the dude was just standing there next to the pool and the squirrel just kept trying to get the seeds, paying him no mind. I think they do at least consider him a non-threat, if not outright their benefactor.

Your squirrels don’t give up. This’ll never get old. I miss the squirrels and chipmunks. In California we have gophers and I wish that I had the time to “Caddy Shack” them, so I just live with them.

This is just stage one of their training. Stage two involves getting them to wear mini masks & carry mini rucksacks. Stage three involves training them to open safes. Then he just has to train them to recognise high denomination bank notes and stuff them in the rucksacks before escaping over the rooftops. Theres a film somewhere in this.

after living with many pet squirrels and a chipmunk, including Frisky, my pet squirrel that lived 13 yrs, ive learned that they LOVE a challenge.
the actually enjoy these obstacle courses and such that require them to think as well as flex their athletic abilities.
they LOVE having fun and you certainly give them a good time.
thanks for being kind to the little furr balls! so many are not.
you enjoy their presence and antics while showing them a good time and feeding them.

I love how they're not even scared of the guy who is setting up their WIPEOUT course. It is like they KNOW he does it on purpose and they participate freely. LOL
What you should do is make all the contraptions seem stable and safe to them - (ex.: make the pvc pipe NOT spin) for like a week, then turn it into a squirrel acrobat park - make that pvc pipe that seemed safe? - turn it back into its original spin disaster! Do it with ALL the booby traps you can think of - now all in play!!
I can't tell you how satisfied I am to see those crafty little squirrels bounce back off the surface of the pool like its a trampoline! Its like their feet barely touch the water- but they are scrambling like crazy! Love it! Great video! Liked and subbed!

I think the more food you put out, the more determined the squirrels are not to share any.
Keldor314 squirrels are just very aggressive with other rodents they will even fight each other over territory and food plots even if there's more than enough food they will fight each other.
nature is often much more violent to itself then we could be to it.
To be fair, the chipmunks have pretty much the same attitude. The squirrels are just bigger.
I have a chipmunk in my backyard who tries to fight bunnies, squirrels, birds etc

Odd thing is, they seemed to have no great difficulty running along upside down underneath the pipe, but didn't use that method to reach the food.

Looks like you are an engineer and carpenter. You certainly make the best of the free entertainment in your own back yard while showing how clever these creatures are. To have both squirrels and chipmunk in your yard is a bonus. Perhaps you are in Colorado.

Back Yard Files you ought to build a " Ninja " course like they have on the TV. These fellas are tenacious and will not stop till they figure it out and get their reward. I mean what else do they have to do. Eat ,shit,screw and sleep. Not in that order. Anyways , you could engineer some really wild scenarios and almost impossible obstacles so we can watch them flash it . I love the slo-mo by the way.. it would make a bad ass video... Just a thought...

That's the best one I've see. Tube should have been bigger and harder to grip.The tub should also be wider and higher to make them swim out. Bath day, every day! LOL.
Amazing that the squirrels are blind to what is possible.
They could easily stand in the water with their heads above it. Their instincts against water are very strong.
They could just grapple the pipe upside down to get to the food.
Somehow, it was unable to realize it could just do the same towards the food instead of doing it to get back to the edge.
Absolutely hilarious and fascinating! You can almost smell the "wood burning" as these varmints try to figure out the safest way to get at the food. Obviously these squirrels have more intelligence than the ones that lived in OUR yard, because after heavy rains on two separate occasions, two squirrels drowned in plastic garbage containers filled with rain water that were filled close enough to the top that they SHOULD have gotten out of them. I felt bad for them, but still have to marvel that they drowned considering that these^^^ squirrels got out of a much wider kiddie pool😐
