I’m 32, Married, Full time job, out of the house. My Dad still shakes his head and asks me why I’m still playing video games and to grow up. They don’t stop hating it 😂
Some people have a few beers and watch a ball game to unwind, some people play video games to unwind. Everyone has something they do to relax after a long day.

Farm guy at 48:00 needs to look into guys like Joel Salatin and Mark Sheppard to figure out some ways to get that income up to 100k. Then, depending on the area, consider subleasing some of the land to other aspiring farmers.
There's a generation gap of old timers retiring from farming and young people that want to start but have no access to land. Finally, consider partial or full sale of the land.
I assume he's a commodity crop farmer growing monocrops on barely any margin, but he didn't share any other details.
I know a family that started with a food truck and became a restaurant after a few years. They are very successful!

The farm land expense is normal for farmers. It is normal to get the land and make payments on it every year with the income, it brings and pay it off fast with rent from other income that comes in from the land you’re renting

I had a 15 passenger van for 1000 it was great just had to buy a tranny for it. That ford went 470000 miles
To the farm kid who called in don’t fret you are fine!! We did this too and paid ours off every year. Now it’s all profit. Although I love Dave he doesn’t get farming
Farmers in our area have regular jobs as well as farm. Or their spouse works a good job.
From what I hear a lot of farming is subsidized by the government because many farms wouldn't survive without help

Most people work for zero profit. Paycheck to paycheck just covering living expenses.
This didn't cover living expenses, at least based on what he said. He said it would only cover the cost of the loan itself, sometimes less.

Are these the same people that pay for tattoos, hair dye, designer purses, name brand shoes, some sort of cable/TV service, fast food and have more than one cc, go out too much with their friends/coworkers?
We lost more than 50% of our income due to poor health and we reworked our budget and got rid of some expenses and do not live paycheck to paycheck, although it is close.
How in h*ll do you make 60-80k/yr when you say you’re both unemployed? Seriously
To the guy who is thinking about paying off debt with his 401k. Borrow from your 401k. Do not withdraw from your 401k. Best bet is to take a loan out from your 401k and pay it back within 1 year. It will force payments withdrawn from your paycheck to pay yourself back and you won’t be paying that huge cc interest rate. Be careful, don’t drag it out for more than about 1 year and make sure you are stable at this job bc if you leave the job you need to pay it all back immediately.
Dear baby Denise, nobody asked you. Do not come onto Dave's comment section suggesting a "loan" OF ANY KIND. Dave does not advise anyone of this. That is what the debt snowball is for. All investments paused, including 401k to free up that extra money for the snowball. Please think before you type Denise. We do not need another "tik tak" adviser & once again, nobody asked you.

Yes, this person already has a bad relationship with credit and he is blaming it on having to pay taxes😂. Taxes didn’t put him in debt. He should just adjust the budget like Dave say (if he is even following the steps).

If the potential growth of the 401k is less than the interest rate on the credit card, then taking a loan from the 401k and paying yourself the interest "COULD" be a viable lump sum solution. You may want to do research necessary to understand the various financial strategies available and compare the actual math.

@@nowthatsurban Funny how everyone's perception is different. On the contrary, it's not that John doesn't finish his sentences, but the long pauses show just how thoughtful he is. He doesn't take the finance question at face value but his mind is already calculating possible reasons for the behavior or situation. So the attribute that you can't stand about him is actually something I deeply appreciate 🙌😃. Yes, maybe he deep dives too much or over-presumes, but he's definitely a thinker, not insecure. (what?!)
