Needle valve are the words you were missing. The float moves the needle valve to control fuel level in the bowl. Your explanation was clear and easy to follow for disassembling, cleaning and reassembling carb.

Thanks for the video. I'm going to try starting the Super AV of my FIL's tomorrow, it hasn't been started in over 15 years. Those were some good tips on the fuel leaking out of the bottom of the bowl or from the intake boot area if the float was stuck open. I'll also remember the "bump" on the float bracket if I have to rebuild/clean the carb.

A few weeks ago I had to clean out the carburetors on 2 of our lawn mowers. I noticed you do the same thing I do when you blow out a jet port with air you blow both ways. Can’t wait to hear it run.

When you put the float back on I couldn’t tell if the small bump faces up or down. I have mine apart now and want to assemble the right way.. the bump was up when I took it apart.

That's not a jet under the floats, that's the needle and seat. It shuts off the flow of fuel when the bowl is full, the floats push the needle up into the seat and close the passage to stop fuel flow.

Upside down float will cause problems every time. Good job Kevin.

I don't think I would have caught that float being upside down, but after you pointed it out, it was pretty obvious.

check the fuel filter, if it is dirty, engine will not run well at higher speed.

Hey Kevin. The fuels these days sure raise hell with all fuel systems. Constant additives seem to help though to eat up the ethanol. I love these old carbs. Nice and simple and pro getting worked on as well. You have a nice and common sense post here today bud. Curious as to why you are not using carb cleaner ? Thanks eh. Picking up after others that mean well but screw things up has kept me in a living for years, LOL.

Trying to find the correct gasket rebuild kit. There are so many options and some don't look like they are quite the correct ones. Can you help direct me to it? I have the identical looking carbureator on a 1951 Farmall Super A. Thank you
