      Just before they cut away to show Jeter rounding third, you can see A-Rod heading back towards the bag to touch it before heading to second. We never get to see whether he touches it, but he's definitely moving in the direction of first base rather than second, so I think it's fair to assume he touched first base. Still out, though.

    A-Rod and his ridiculous Hamburger Helper gloves clearly slaps the ball from Arroyo's glove and is rightly called OUT!! Yankees suffer greatest collapse in the history of MLB as the Red Sox come back from 3-0 deficit to win 4 in a row and then go on to sweep the Cardinals for the World Series Title. Yankees have never been the same since and have only one championship in the last 24 seasons......

    1:22 Joe Torre out there defending his player even when he knows his player is in the wrong. I'm not sure what I think about that. On the one hand, it's good for the players to know that your manager is going to have your back. On the other hand, Torre probably could have saved any goodwill he had with the umpires for a more meaningful argument.

Of course he saw it all mlb fans saw it ppl at home saw it. A managers job besides managing the team is 2 have powers of observation on your players. a sore loser he showed there. If it was the other way around surely joe torre would've Noticed and protested too just like terry francona did.fare is fare.. Franky Broadcast, The first base umpire was blocked and signaled safe when he saw the ball on the ground. The video doesn't show us if ARod touched the base or not. If he didn't, the runner is safe unless the defense appeals the missed base. It's a moot point anyway since ARod was out the when he committed interference.

    • @hagamapama
      @hagamapama Před 2 lety

      The first base umpire had the worst view of that play of anyone in the field, because he's behind Miller and can't see a thing.
      Tito probably pointed that out which is what prompted the crew chief to get the crew together and either the RF ump, the 2B ump, or the 3B ump, all of which had better angles on what was going on, saw the play more clearly and caused the crew chief to overrule the 1B ump.

      @@MM-yn9db I didn't even remember this until Mike Franseca brought it up but one of the biggest at-bats of the series was the 8th inning of game 5. Yankees had first & third with one out and Arod up against Timlin. If arod gets a hit or a sac fly, it's 5-2 and game over. Instead he struck out and the Sox rallied in the bottom of the eighth.
