You don't have to save that often. The game saves continuously, clicking on the save icon will make a copy (a backup) of that save. Make backup before doing something dangerous, or every so in case your save get corrupted (which can happen with power outage or computer crash, personal experience here).
The game has a very steep learning curve and the tutorial isn't the best. Lots of information everywhere about different systems, it does look very complicated at first but in fact, it is really not. Once you'll get a gripe on the mechanics, it will be fairly easy.
Also, some people can get confused about the block building system and the voxel nature of the game, but it won't for you since you know and play Minecraft
Thank you very much! Yeah I had no idea about the save! Thanks for the help. I watched some guys on twitch playing and it looked pretty intimidating to be honest. There’s soo much to learn. The game is super fun though! You been playing it long?
@@DADDOnaut I have a bit more than 1k hour, although I bought it years ago, so I've been playing on and off. Also, I spent a lot of time in Creative mode to build my ships.
IMO, the hardest systems to comprehend for beginner are the wifi system (F4 and connected yellow toolbar), CPU system (BTW, your base needs one CPU extender, it is over CPU and so its efficiency is decreased). And generally the UI, which is confusing, especially the PDA and the trading window.
Also, some random tips useful for begginers :
- All build requires a core, you can't just put blocks in the world like Minecraft.
- When using a hover vessel or the hoverbike, press and hold space for a few seconds to get to the maximum height, so you won't bump into the terrain as much
- You can't swim with something on your hand, you'll just sink. Use the last slot on your toolbar for hands free.
- You have a personal drone (F5 key) which can be used to scout, loot corpses and backpacks and even use tools like survival tool and multitool
@@kokojack there is SOOO much to learn… it’s overwhelming.. thanks for the tips, I need all that I can get! Do I need to complete the tutorial or does the actual single player mode guide you through the game?
@@DADDOnaut TBH, the tutorial is only good for learning quickly the basics of the game, but don't feel the need to complete it. Once you are comfortable with the game, just hop in survival mode and play.
I'd like to add that Spanj (the most famous Empyrion content creator), is making a new serie for the 1.10 release of Empyrion called "A Beginners Lets play Series". You'll probably learn quite more by watching him play and explaining the game
