Rewatching this I don't get why there are people who take Dave's side.
Don't get me wrong, Sky isn't perfect in this situation and she could have handled things better, but I don't see how the way he treated her is her fault and how she would be more in the wrong than him.

He was honestly a pretty decent straight man in the beggining, then regressed into an obsessive Sky simp. That in itself wouldn't been bad if the show was aware of it and used Dave as an antagonist(and put his bad non-existent relationship with Sky in contrast to Jasmine and Shawn's good relationship), but we're supposed to root for the relationship despite how little sense it makes. So it's not fun to watch, and because Dave's purpose in the show became nothing outside of simping, he was frustrating to watch for all the wrong reasons.
Future me here to say that I don't agree with this anymore, mainly because Skave DOES contrast Shawn & Jasmine's relationship. If the finale doesn't make that clear I don't know what does. I also like how much of a wolf in sheep's clothing he was, one of the few characters that should've regressed tbh. Point is, now I think he's great because of how awful he becomes.

Is it just me, or does Sky seem like sheâs someone who tries to avoid confrontation?
Think about it.. Initially, she was planning on breaking up with her at the time boyfriend but wasnât sure about following through with it, she tried to tell Dave how she felt when he asked her if she liked him, got cut off and never tried to cut in about it UNTIL her boundaries were pushed beyond her limits.
If this is the case, it would honestly explain so much as to why she didnât really try to tell Dave to back off or take a hint. She doesnât like confrontation and would rather avoid it than openly express her discomfort by means of having a conversation. Sheâll avoid it for as long as she can until something gets pushed too far and it causes her to snap and express how she truly feels.
Sure, it may make her seem like sheâs coming off as callous, but - in actuality - she isnât the type to let herself be heard until sheâs at her limit. She expressed discomfort but never let her boundaries be known until they were crossed. Itâs not exactly a healthy mentality to have obviously, but it isnât her fault that Dave didnât seem to care about her boundaries until she snapped at him. She visually tried to show him several times throughout the show that she wasnât comfortable with his advances and he ignored all this, insisting that if he kept pushing and kept trying that he would eventually win her over.
Sky isnât a saint or a perfect character by any means, but I donât think I can really fault her for not trying to step in sooner when it came to Dave. It seems like it wasnât really in her character to do so and when she did, it appeared she felt guilty over it most of the time.
People who have traits like Dave need to understand that people have boundaries and limitations. These types of things differ from person to person, but I donât think itâs ever really okay to try and keep pushing because you think you can change someoneâs mind. It shows a blatant disrespect for the person you might be trying to approach and makes it seem like you donât really value them as a person of their own, but rather as a winnable prize to obtain if you keep pressing their buttons.

Nah, Dave towards Sky was the exact relationship with my Sister and her ex. Like they talked during new years when my brother and his friend left him and so my sister took to upon herself to comfort him during the night. But months later, they got together and it seemed nice. But man, he did the weirdest shit. When I went swimming with them, he made her upset about talking over her insecurities, another time he got mad at us for having a good time by her apartment so we had to leave early. And the most reason one that I can remember was that when they were together, she left her keys in his car. He was at the gym, and she asked him to drop them off at our house (which he been there before). But he was actin like it wasnât his problem at all and it was her fault for leaving them. So we had to drive more than an hour over to bring her spare keys, and when was about to leave, NOW he wanna come bring it. He was basically an insecure narcissist that wonât let her be, but she been left him and still making a livin out of herself

It's simping because of how he acted towards her. He often didn't listen to her, belittled her dreams, and overly hyped her on the littlest things to get her to like him. That's what a simp does. Even if she liked him back it's still simping. Sure she technically lied to him but that does not justify him ya know....TRYING TO KILL HER. Even though she said she liked him too and wanted to break up with her ex anyways. Her lying about her boyfriend does not defend Dave at all because she wanted to tell him but he did not want to listen. Although she had other opportunities to tell him, it's scary to think about what would happen if she told him earlier in the season seeing as how he tried to KILL HER in the finale.

Everyone keeps calling Mordecai from Regular Show and Finn from Adventure Time biggest simps in cartoon history but just be glad they DIDN'T end up like him for once. a good concept done poorly. Skye and Dave are truly a unique concept. Miscommunication and love when it comes to teenagers is quite realistic. Add that to Skye's determination with the game and him turning obsessive. I didn't even mind that. Teenage boys like this unfortunately exist. I didn't have a problem with him until he basically went insane.

I genuinely felt bad for dave ngl. Hes a simp, I get it, I think we all know at least one socially awkward person who acts in a somewhat similar manner to dave. But heres the thing, sky doesnt outright reject him until way later in the series, never mentions she has a boyfriend, etc. Sky didnt outright reject him, and instead played him to get him to contribute. With vague promises and allusions. So what happens is whej dave finds out sky has a boyfriend, hes mad that he was played by sky for so long. While I admit his descent into total madness is fucked. I still have to say that sky did not handle that situation even close to correctly. And ended up making dave rather sympathetic.
