If you didn't have the money for the mags you would have to remember the cheats or even write them down quickly on some scrap paper without anyone looking :)
Ah my fave video game programe of all time.Now that im 50 ,i have fond memories of me in my 20s waiting excitedly for Thursday evenings to come so i could indulge in 30 minutes of gaming heaven and Dominic Diamonds hilarious "Pants"jokes.Not forgetting the unforgetable Sir Patrick Moore as GM.Who could forget Dave Perry (Yes the Git with the bandana)falling off the track while playing as mario in Mario 64 after making out he was a gaming god then claiming it was fixed.Ah those were the days.This remake of GamesMaster was clearly made with alot of love for the original and i feel i haven`t been away a day.Roll on Episode 2 :-) P.s Keep it up Trevor your doing a Great job.

Rab was the perfect choice to host the 8th season of GM. With that Scottish accent it took me back to the 90's where I proceeded to slip back in to Games Master quicker and easier than a Dominic Diamond innuendo. Captured the original GM vibes perfectly.
Woke nonsense. This episode was full of 'the message'. Pronouns, lesbians, empowerment ( strange way to say how you feel after a challenge) and if course the 50/50 black white split even though black people represent about 5% of the UK population
As a fan of the 90s series, its certainly got the vibe and style of the original, but undoubtedly is made for this generation. Hopefully this will be a success and create new fans.

I've been watching old re-runs of this on CZcams in preparation for this moment and DAMN it didn't disappoint! :) Great presenters, great challenges, Trevor McDonald was amazing as the GamesMaster and Rab was totally channelling Dominik Diamond!!! Watched this with my wife and two youngest (aged 9 and 7) who are avid games, feels great to introduce GM to a new generation of fans! Super happy right now! :)

Great work! Is nearly an impossible job to reboot /retread something that that ment so much to a 14 year old 25 years ago but this captures the atmosphere of original show and was really enjoyable and fun. Hopefully this short season will only be the start. Remember the difference in Series1 Dom once he found his feet. This really could be excellent
Everyone looks like they're walking on eggshells at the moment and it's all too serious and scripted for my liking. But like you say, maybe it will grow as everyone relaxes into their role.
The only other person i can think of to fill the GAMES MASTER'S boots (and monacle) is Sir Trev... bow down and tremble before his might! How they never rebooted this before ice no idea... But i think a RETRO GAMES MASTER is well overdue right? Where master of retro games get a chance to prove their prowess... a few speed runners on there? The public dont know about speedrunners breaking records in games that came out before they were born, but i think a lot would enjoy seeing it on TV as opposed to having to search for it... i think itd be a super smash hit
I would like to see people taking on the retro consoles too like the genesis and Super Nintendo systems too make it feel more rounded going through a history of video games too.. maybe even give some retribution to those who failed before and come back to try again.

This show had so much potential. I’m not gonna pretend that I love every segment, guest or even host, but they were given so little time to establish their own style, or to work on any segments that didn’t quite land.

Struggled on Mario Kart of all things. Non entity celebs were a bit cringeworthy. The programme really should have been broadcast in HD. Game footage was poor in SD. All in all it was ok. If we want games we go into live streams on our ps, xbox and our desktops. The old show had younger gamers and the presenter didnt pretend to be Dominik Diamond!
I had just introduced my oldest son (12) to the original series and just discovered this revival (which I didn't know anything about) and as far as revivals generally go, this isn't bad! I was 12 when it came out in 1992 and had a Sega Megadrive at the time, I later got a PC in 1996. This show was a big part of my teens between 1992-1998. I was saying 10-15 years ago they should bring it back and they finally did. I am still a gamer PC, although I had a Play Station 2 throughout the 2000's.
