To anybody reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind may clarity replace confusion. may peace and calmness fill your life.

This song reminds me of my daughter, and how she started out young, pregnant and single and went to Nursing School. She was a single mother of an infant, worked minimum wage jobs until she got her Associate RN Degree, then completed her BSN (Nursing Degree), and she is now less than 2 years from getting her PhD as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My daughter is now 31 and my granddaughter is 10. My beautiful daughter is truly a RISER. Every day she works to get better and better at her career and my sweet granddaughter is learning from my daughter’s example!❤❤❤

Every time I listen to this song, I am overwhelmed with emotion. I think about how I am a survivor of my past and how far I have come. When I was 13 years old, I was forced to make a life changing choice of parenting my 3 younger siblings and myself, running away from everything to take care of only myself, or falling into the poison that my biological mother fell into: doing and selling drugs. She got involved with gang members who slowly began to take over my home beginning with our basement (stopping me from doing laundry), our kitchen (stopping me from cooking with the little food we had), and our living area (stopping us from being comfortable with our Saturday morning cartoons and such).
I made the decision to take care of my three younger siblings and myself because they are my blood. I was 13 when I took on the role of a parent to them, with two of them being on the Autism spectrum. I would send the two off to school on their buses, walk my other sibling to school, then walk to school on my own, all while still trying to make it to school on time and eating breakfast from the breakfast program in classes. I would get special permission from my afternoon class teachers for me to leave early to stop at the school food room for leftovers for dinner, then race to pick up my siblings from school and from their buses. We would quickly make whatever food we got from school in the kitchen and run upstairs to our 'safe zone' (bedrooms level) before our mother, her new boyfriend, and their gang friends would wake up from sleeping all day.
The upstairs, being our safe zone, was off limits to everyone else on my account. Anyone who tried to come up to use our 'nice' bathroom would be stopped by me. It was risky telling them to turn around but I essentially gained that motherly guard.
There is more to my story but for shorter purposes now, there was a drug bust in our house. My siblings and I were apprehended from our mother's 'care' and have been involved in the foster/CFS system for 10 years (myself being out of it for 2 of those years as I am now an adult).
Some people have the strength that others do not. My strength was my education as I learned about the typical drugs are bad, crime is bad, etc. My education was my escape and my siblings are my world. I was not about to let anything happen to them. My last foster parents who are now my parents by love took care of us and showed us a healthier and happier family life. My mom (former foster mother) said to me "your job is done, focus on you and your schooling, soar like an eagle because you deserve to be happy. You're a survivor, not a victim. Remember that."
And that I am. Thank you, Dierks, for creating this beautiful song.

This video reminds me of my mom soooo much. I couldnt tell you how many times we stayed in a car or a homeless shelter or asked a church organization to help us out when I was a kid. She worked so hard and got kicked around soo many times. I remember my little brother didnt come to our babysitters one day and my mom stayed back from work and looked all over town for him and she lost her job. She didnt blink once because to her knowing we were safe was more important than any job ever. I try my best to help others who are in a tougher situation than myself cuz i know what its like to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. I remember doing hours of detention cuz my mom worked a third shift job to make ends meet and her job ended at 7 am and my school started at 7:15 and she couldnt make it home in time to get me to school before first bell. She always apologized and felt so bad about it but I didnt care cuz I knew she was trying her damndest to make a better life for us. I would do it again and again. Love you mom.

I've lived through depression and self-harm without anyone but one internet friend, and two real ones knowing. My cuts last to this day, but I love God and know he will help me through it. Riser, Humble and Kind, and The Drive helped me make my way through it. Bless you, and all the country singers, who have helped me. God bless the U.S.A.

I have a friend who decided to stand up to her abuser and leave the relationship a week later her house blew up. For the past two months I have walked through hell with her and faced her demons. She recently showed me this song and I have been listening to it multiple times a day bawling my eyes out, She says I am her riser. In truth she is the real riser. We have been friends for 20 years and the last 2 months our friendship has grown. The lyrics of this song is powerful to put it lightly.

Our 3 year old daughter was diagnosed in March 2015 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Every day I am inspired to be a better husband, father, friend, and person by this little girl. Despite the hell that her little body is going through, she wakes up most mornings with a smile and desire to play and be silly like any other 3 year old. I'm not sure where she gets that from, because I cannot honestly say that I would have that kind of strength or resiliency.
This song has really been speaking to me lately. In honor of a recent milestone in her treatment, her strength, her courage, and her resiliency......I am dedicating this one to you, Kennedy. You are truly a fighter and a 'Riser'.

I haven't slept properly in 2 months. I walk the dark halls of our home while everyone is sleeping, like a guard. Waiting for the time to fight my battle, while remembering the good times. So I've heard this song a million times. Never saw the video. I saw Dierks last night in concert and he mentioned thinking about teacher and fire fighters. Then I see this, and its a different story but the song still hits home. Before seeing this video or seeing him live, this song always makes me think of my step mother with stage 4 cancer who just survived a life saving brain surgery. And my dad who has endured all to help her though it. I was balling my eyes out at the concert. I love music, everyone can interpret it differently no matter what and its beautiful and helps people ❤️

The strongest Riser I have ever known. She left a terrible situation and fought hard for years to give me the best childhood she could.

Sometimes life just collapses on you without notice. Like an earthquake on a spring morning. No use tracking forecasts.
One day all comes crumbling down and you're driftwood washed up on the shore.
But, then, sometimes it's just an itch, you know you feel an itch, but you don't know where that is coming from. You cannot pinpoint . Things seem "peaceful" enough.
Every so often is nothing more than some broken chord in a long forgotten melody that keeps on surfacing every time you feel misunderstood, or disrespected. Every single time you feel lonely.
Once and again you just build up the walls to the perfect lie in order to feel comfortable. Secure. And you hold on to it like the only truth there is. To cope. To help make sense. You fear you yourself might collapse if you just let go. It's hard and it takes time to build up a good lie.
Or you may as well succeed and your lie will last a lifetime. You'll never be confronted. And you'll never be set free.
But sometimes life just collapses on you. Or you make it collapse, 'cause you're just tired of all the lying. An whipping so hard that itch left yourself bleeding. It's then that you RISE. And then it happens again. And you get up and dust yourself up one more time just to get back on the scuffle. But it just keeps on collapsing till you feel numb and wonder why you persist just to get thrown around, your head slammed to the mat.
“Sometimes we love with nothing more than hope. Sometimes we cry with everything except tears. In the end that’s all there is: love and its duty, sorrow and its truth. In the end that’s all we have - to hold on tight until the dawn” (Gregory David Roberts)
And that's true heroism for you.
