The mower will..Kut. thanks great video. Wish you best on your next creation
I was just thinking that you could go and get a cheap home security camera system. You can get them for less than $200.00, plus they are usually 4-channel and they come with 2 to 4 wireless cameras, and a DVR recorder. You could mount a camera facing forward on each leading edge, have one for backing up, and one sitting on a mast, so you could watch from above. You can even record the whole thing. Just an idea.
@@justinmccallister280 he could also use an old cell phone and use any app from the app store even night vision and thats pretty much free ;-)
If you included video of the mower cutting grass, it would have been amazing.
@@hxhdfjifzirstc894 We show it cutting grass in the first video we made of it. czcams.com/video/fpP-fjlNV6U/video.html. After that video was made, we got so many comments about it, we decided to do this "how-to" video.
WOW, as an amputee on my right leg, I can totally appreciate your need and ingenuity on this. Thank you for sharing your work, and story!
When people like you do the homework, it makes seemingly complicated things like this ridiculously simple for people like me! Thank you sir! I love it!
When you started driving it I couldn’t suppress a smile. This is why I love CZcams 👍🏻
I have watched more than 30 videos of people who have done a remote controlled lawn mower. By far your video is the best one. Thank you so much for sharing all the details. Great video!
John Smith That’s awesome! Thank you so much!
Agree 1000%
the only thing it's missing is a Patreon account, and an Amazon wish list for the audience to help out directly.
I would suggest getting an Amazon Prime account.
Yea add the parts list using (affiliation) so we can buy you coffee

@@BenchmarkRadio This is cool, I didn't know it was a thing. This gets me pumped about helping others.
Honestly this is so cool and your instructions make it seem simple enough to follow along too. Please keep up the great work and sharing your inspirational ideas!!!
This guy seems super cool and creative, I wish he were my neighbor
I am SO FREAKIN JEALOUS that you have a REMOTE CONTROL LAWNMOWER, WOW!!! You made it look so easy and the patients you have to do it is remarkable! If you just sold the kit minus the mower...id BUY IT TODAY! Your onto something really BIG. Keep it up, and GOD BLESS YOU!!!
Great job! Most detailed video in less than 30 minutes.
You did a great job at explaining and solving some complex problems and have inspire me to try making something like this . Great job thanks man.
This is by far one of the coolest things i've seen in awhile. Awesome how he explains everything in detail , fun project!!!
I realize I'm late on this I'm disabled myself watching this video ur a freaking genius how I can see u have engineers patience thank you for sharing the video
Sir, this is one of the best instructional videos I have ever seen.
Thank you and Great Awesome job.
Incredible work, man! Thanks for sharing this with us. You’re a genius! Much support!!
I have been wanting to build one of these for years, but put it off because it seemed too difficult. I even have a mower i set aside for this project. After watching your step by step video it gave me the bump I needed to order the parts and make it happen finally. Thank you so much for sharing and keep up the great work. Also thank you for posting a parts list!
We need more videos of this guy!!!!! Genius and teacher !
For the past week I though this was MY IDEA! I didnt want to search online for others because I wanted to think things through without inspiration from others. Now I have a look and by no means was this my idea at all... BUT Im planning to take things a step beyond and include FPV (first person view) from my quadcopter extras and use my FPV goggles as well. So once the more is started I can go inside and control my mower from a comfy chair. Might even put the image on the big screen and make a game of it!
I applaud your creativity and although my need for this is due to laziness, your solution is inspirational.
*****Since first creating this Pt. 2 video, we have gotten some electrical tools that have made this process a lot easier. They are listed in the description of the video.*****
As a refresher, here is the initial build:
czcams.com/video/fpP-fjlNV6U/video.html
Thank you! This video has put me on track to do this project. I can’t walk much anymore, so I’ve been wanting to build an RC mower to save my energy.
Genuinely one of the best and most informative videos I've seen on CZcams, well done 👍
holy cow, much respect for you, I'm really impressed
I did this out of bordem and laziness. Scared the shit out of my neighbor when i taped a dummy to the handle and mowed his yard three houses down and across the street dragging the dummy me several times back and forth across the yard before mr noey got outside to save me. It was funny as hell at the time. Sorry Ben. Rip. You were a good man. No i didnt kill him. He passed away years after my mowing job.
Hahahahaha
I watched these videos a few months ago, and now I'm rewatching them as I'm about to start another project. I love everything about this!
That’s awesome!
Now this is a diy project I can get behind. Amazing ! Work smarter not harder !
Necessity is the Mother of All Inventions , God Bless you , Son .🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Your powerdrill start idea to replace the broken chord is brilliant, sir!
Thanks!
This is super useful! As someone who can never get the lawn mover to turn on using a cord i tried this out and it work;great! I can mow my own lawn now! And don't have to wait for someone to come help me turn it on!
Your page is legit. I intended to use a very similar set up. Keep making content as authentic as this bro! Subscribed!
I enjoyed your build. I may have to try that on one of my mowers in order to mow steep ditch banks. Keep of the good work.
**** Outstanding Presentation****
Nice build it gave me a few new ideas. The big spring you removed is used on a flywheel brake to stop the blade faster. Another thing you may want to add is a kill switch attached to a bar across the front so if it hits something like a curious kid it will completely shut down before it runs over a foot, cat, a small dog or anything else. Great video have a great one.
Good ideas here. Thanks!
Maybe a " bumper mechanism" off like a robo vac or something heavier
I think a regular kill switch would get crushed when it hit something harder and disable the whole unit.
Yes i know the value of life VS a switch argument
But why work harder and more $ when you can work smarter ? .
Full credit to you , that is amazing from Scotland 🏴
All the detail necessary and right to the point, thanks!
this is absolutely awesome!
Hello from Australia🇦🇺. Great video and great build mate. Thankyou for teaching us how you did it. 👍
Awesome job building that rig! A remote controlled diy mower seems like a difficult task but you make it look easy! Now I just need to build my own
Now you know how to. :)
correction at 16:18, it is a brake mounted to stop the flywheel when you let go of the bar. It has no connection to the spark plug in any way except for stopping the flywheel, it doesn't break any connection like a switch. that model actually has a set of gears to push the brake against the flywheel, i also have that piece still sitting in my toolbox too now that i think bout it. the wonders of being a hoarder, LOL. actually after editing this a couple of times i see them when you were moving the arms back and forth . im sorry i had to correct you on that, its just i had that exact engine and i stripped it down. and im not trying to dis or put down your project, i actually think that this is a great idea and i congratulate you on the idea.
We didn’t know that. Thanks for the info and heads up!
Love you and your imagination.
This was one of the best diy explanation videos I’ve seen. Thanks!
Thank you sir and ma'am, I am about to commence a build of my own and your explanation and instruction has helped me greatly with my preparation. Thank you for your contribution, all parts were purchased through the links provided.
Had this idea when looking for self propelled mower amazed noone has made one to sell i would definitely buy
Seriously! Why isnt this already on the market lol
@@danmcdonald4275 Ikr?
lol when I heard "and the bolts work just like you expect bolts to work" I can picture someone actually stopping the video to google it pfft i cracked up
Same here.
For those of us looking for a reference, this is by far the most informative video out there to date. Thank you for taking the time to put this together
So glad this has been useful!
Checking CL for power chair/parts now.
Love the build.
You see, it's a dream of mine to sit on my back porch and watch the lawn mow it's self and watch the wife empty the bag, this is a really good start! Next i need something to take the trash out automatically when it detects nagging.
😂
There are roomba-style automatic mowers now.
@@SirFrag32 Really? Please tell me that it can detect nagging!
@@dirttdude Not that I'm aware of, but you can schedule it!
Thats rad! thanks for sharing, you could even try to add a tow bar and connect your wheelchair for a bit of fun :D
LOL that would be fun
Or how about a grass catcher so you don't have to rake the yard being in a wheelchair that would help a lot leaving your grass clippings on The Lawns can cause it to create moss and choke out your grass
@@arminbender8702 I'm a massive fan of the lawn mower with a built in mulcher. My grass has never looked so good
as of May 2020 I just finished the build on my remote control lawn mower .and I'm extremely happy with it .I too am disabled and it is very exciting to mow the lawn without worry .well not too much worry. thanks to you and others on CZcams for the idea.❤🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
That’s awesome! So glad you were able to create one too!
And I love the video you explained everything really well not like other videos I have searched. Thanks.
Good job, now i no how to do it, thought it was easy, just power the 12v to 6v for the esc and stuff.
Here is part 3 where we shows how he did the wiring. czcams.com/video/jQNjKKBeNHo/video.html
The parts are in except my mower, the wheels, and the motors. excited to get started!
Excellent build. Only changes I would've further considered is to make sure to mitigate rusting of its components by using galvanized bolts/screws, nuts and etc (assuming you already didn't do that), and also I would've secured a plastic protective housing (aka gladware with a top cover) on the wooden board and then placed the electronic components inside the gladware and passed the wires through hole(s) in the top cover and/or the gladware itself. I would chock a cut up piece of plastic bag in the hole with the wires, to keep the interior of plastic housing dry and to keep the electronic components dry and rustproof and protected from effects of the weather. Alternatively, instead of using the cut up piece of plastic bag, I could insteas use a rubber gasket placed in the holes for passing the wires to also achieve the weatherproofing function too. With that said, great job man, keep it up.
@@AChi__ Those are some great suggestions! We have noticed some rusting on some of the bolts. Luckily, the mower stays in the garage most of the time but we will keep this in mind. Thanks!
@@MeantToBeLindseyB Great!
You are the man no doubt about it most people wouldn't have wasted their time answering me you gave me more information than I needed I'm on the job I found an old jazzy wheelchair on marketplace for $60 I can get the rest of the stuff off of Amazon pretty cheap thank you very much for the help maybe I'll put a video up when I'm done of course I will give you the credit but me the credit for the build LOL thank you very much for the help I surely appreciate it keep building
Bro your a genius! It amazes me how the handicapped have this stigma of helplessness when in actuality they can do everything other people can do and often better! Keep up the good work and maybe consider marketing your creation;. It seem to me this could help a lot of people with limited mobility!
Excellent video, i didn't know i had to build an RC mower till now.
add a small alternator, keep the batteries up
Yep 👍
I see a movie coming..The killer mower" fall asleep and mower ends up 6 houses down mowing thru gardens etc. Lol
Absolutely brilliant! Gotta make one myself now. Thank you for inspiring me!
You are amazing!!! I can no longer physically mow my hill backyard but you have inspired me to remotely cut my yard the way I want it cut. I have a 4WD mower I would love to convert
That’s great! You should definitely do it!
Last time I’ll loan him my mower 😂
if he returned mine like that, id loan him other things!
Me to, he is a winner
Lol for the turning wheels aka caster wheels you could have heated up the adjust lever and bend it so you could attach the wheels vertical instead of horizontal but I'm sure you got it since it was posted over a year ago lol
this is the coolest thing i seen in my life!!!!! man you are a genius. THe lazy person in me is ordering everything right now :))
🤣🤣😂😅 you are genius. And then you come out with drill start instead of replacing string and carb. Your awesome man
You can sell your idea to a manufacturer. File a patent and document your idea.
This is a mini zero turn, impressive
Looks like it works great!
Bet it's even better with the casters.
I want to build one of these with my 11 year old daughter this year.
Can't wait to see how it evolves with the improvements you wanted to make.
Thank you for sharing this with such details. Very very inspiring
As long as the generator is good enough, you should be able to power the motors off the engine. It'll reduce fuel efficiency by increasing magnetic drag on the generator, but it'll work.
Push mowers don’t have a Generator.
Did you ever get a camera system set up? I’d love to help with that! I have FPV (First person view) equipment Id like to donate and if your not to familiar with it I could show you how to set it up although with what you’ve done here I’m sure you’d be able to handle it 😉. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
We haven't gotten a really good camera setup yet. We'd love to take you up on your offer if you're serious. Send me an email and thank you in advance. This is an incredibly generous offer. :) MeantToBeLindseyB@hotmail.com
You are brilliant Sir, I thought of something like a RC Lawnmower, but not as good as your ideas.
That mower build is awesome, I am needing one for doing ditches and slopes . The camera idea and maybe all wheel drive , some lights , GPS with a map of the yard , Safety stuff needs be in there for sure .
Uhh i see another use for old Hoverboard Wheels. :-)
Don't cut yourself"down your BAD";";";MAN
I'm completely clueless when it comes to all of this, but I'm going to try my best to get all these parts and make this as a gift! I think I can manage. lol Thank you for explaining these concepts in such an easy to grasp way - especially for people like me! ♥
Be sure to also check out the wiring video too (linked in this video’s description) if you need help with the wiring.
Wow!! what a great video. Excellent visuals and audio was spot on. His voice has a calming effect which I like when I'm learning something new I've been dreaming about doing something exactly like this for a long time. I've been in high tech all my career and last 15yrs was for HP R&D for learning how to build computers a year in advance. I'm a real gearhead too. My hobby has been building and repairing cars. So with your Video and my eagerness, by golly, I'm going to make one this Summer!!
Can’t wait to see yours!
Bro you knocked it out the park I've got to build one👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Great creation and inspiring! The machine is a fantastically creative solution!I wish everyone a successful, beautiful day and weekend in strength and health!
Excellent build. Great example of a practical use case...
So cool, I built one after crashing my model plane, it was nice to sit on the porch in the shade sipping iced tea, and cut the grass, I subbed😎
Thanks! Love your instructional video, you to steped through the instructions very well. The wheelchair motors are comin tomorrow. I tested the remote with small dc motor and servo motor. It's all setup for the motor tomorrow!
That's great! Good luck!
As a wheelchair user trying to figure the grass cutting thing out. You Sir. have helped in that area.
I happen to have an extra electric wheelchair not using with 2 good motors and batteries. Have the mower!
So now to order the rest and by this weekend I will be sitting on the porch cutting grass! Wo0t.
That's awesome! Good luck!
Nice work on the RC conversion brother! On a different note, my Uncle broke his neck about 8 years ago. Drs said he would never walk. He is able to drive a car and stand on his own two feet now! Im glad he didnt give up after his injury.
Ryan Malin So many people struggle after their injuries. Glad he didn’t give up though!
Thanks for the videos. Simple easy walk though!
Great job keep doing what you are doing. Keeping busy.
Thanks for sharing
and greetings from Romania!
Such a cool project. Congrats!!
Adapt and overcome! Genius dude!
I just watch this video, this is a Great job ! I am looking to convert my lawn mower from gas to electric. I will look the parts to buy.
I wish we had suggestions on kits for that but we don’t have experience with that unfortunately. Good luck on your project though! Let us know how it goes!
That's awesome! If you extend the antenna you will get less interference.
I’ve gotta say… man, you’re a genius!
Creative & impressive work. Yeah front wheels like on zero turn mowers would be perfect. Now you made me look at my old manual push ego mower with a "hmmm should i..." lol
I'm hear because I remember watching "Honey I shrunk the kids" as a kid and wanting the lawnmower so bad even though at the time I didn't have a yard. Great video now I'm planning to build this beast 😁. PS you got to put FPV on this thing.
Your work helps HUMANITY!
Very well explained, Thank you for the video.
My brother is in a chair, 15 years last Friday actually, and this was great inspiration for me to build one. He works on his '67 Camaro himself as well as many other things but the yard has been a bit difficult until this. I just finished it and will be showing him soon. Thanks a lot for your time and effort showing us how it's done. Only thing I am trying to change is I want the controls to be left stick to left motor and right stick to right motor like a zero turn.
That’s awesome! And you can totally do that! You need to purchase a “centering spring” for the left stick of the remote if you’re using the same flysky model we are using. You would use channel 2 and channel 4 of the remote receiver instead of 1 and 2. Then you need to make sure you’re using the correct settings in the setup of the DIP switches on the motor driver. (You need to ensure mixed mode is off). Let us know how it works when you get it running!
@@MeantToBeLindseyB I was searching all over to try to find that out! Thanks again man! I'll probably struggle with the dip switches but with the online manual there's a lot of good info. Oh, yes it's the same remote.
Great job. Love your design.
Great job and hello from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 God bless you
Thank you very much!
thats awesome actually what i have envisioned but could not figure the remote parts thank you
Ill be making one for myself. Thanks, good job!
Good job very simple.
A true inspiration. Kudos
Well done! I did something similar in 1988. You covered all the issues very well. I put casters on the front at the outset. It worked well. My only suggestion is to mount the battery behind the drive wheels. This will take weight off the front wheels and allow them to pivot and it will increase traction on the rear. Good luck and have fun!
Since this video, we did actually switch to rotating casters in the front. It made a huge difference!
My man you eat my subscription no question ask. Your one badass man. Thank you for the info
