    Call me crazy but I prefer the old one...crown guards look off on this model. Don't like the lume filled markers...solid white gold markers made the old one look more upscale and would disappear in certain light as to not dominate over the smaller markers. I also like the thickness of the older model...makes it look more masculine and gives greater wrist presence. Older one seems more versatile as the newer one looks more like a sports model with the crown guards. How's that for reasons!?

      You‘ve nailed it! Totally agree. Why crown guards and when they bring more lume they should have lumed up all numerals

      @@watchyouwant1617 totally agree! And how about the new slab sided case? Not a fan. It took away the class and elegance of the more curvy older case.

    It’s so different I almost didn’t recognise it. Amazing.

    Not a huge change except for the lume! I dont really need the crown guards, extra power reserves as no date equal no hassle. Somehow the previous Airking looks way more vintage and special to me now and I do agree with you that it wont hurt the price of previous model.

    I love the new design (professional case like Sub and GMT, but domed bezel), but I just wish it were smaller

    I’m so happy they updated the airking and not discontinued but changed it so when the discontinue the new airking both models will go true the roof.

    I purchased mine from an AD here in Cleveland 2 months ago and I love the watch but I’ll be visiting her today to get back on the list for a Submariner

    The new 126900 will and should have an impact on the crazy speculative prices of the 116900. New movement, better clasp, crown guard, lumed dials etc. Much more visible and clear which is what you want from a tool watch like this. Rolex should do more of this and end the craziness of the flippers and speculators.
    If you buy for the love of the watch, then enjoy your watch but if for flipping, then bad luck

      Basically we r being play up by Rolex, I don't denied that! But if you look at other models like Daytona panda or ice blue, it's the same thing so I believe Rolex know what we r doing and they basically outsmart the opportunist 😅

    Man, it’s like a totally different watch…should wear like an OP…no faraday cage…like the clasp more…

    The new airking is my favourite Rolex

  • @kjlaw8104
    @kjlaw8104 Před 2 lety +1

    Less thickness
    Less 369 dial luxury white gold
    No more faraday cage which is the most important factor.
    Main reason engineers and pilots buy this airking because of Faraday cage..
    Now only Milgaus have it

      I'm down for one sometime this year! Will all the airking being delivered from now on be the new 2022 version?

      No unfortunately with the 116900 being discontinued. You will have to re register for the new 126900.

    Rolex made the new AK slightly less ugly than the old one, big deal. Pass.

    I also have the old reference which I got last year. I have mixed feelings towards the new release which I think any owner of a previous model will get. I love everything about the old reference, however the one thing I think is neat on the new one is just that slimmer profile. I do think it might look a bit less substantial on the wrist as a consequence. Crown guards, I'm not a fan, it loses it's elegance and has become more of a tool watch.

    • @watchyouwant1617
      @watchyouwant1617  Před 2 lety

      Agree. The slimmer case profile is quiet nice but it also pushes it - like the rest you've mentioned - more towards a tool watch.

    Longings is doing cooler stuff than Rolex, Tudor, or IWC this year. Maybe a lesser watch overall but I think I’d have more fun shopping them.

    This watches pedigree is linked to the bloodhound high speed ground vehicle, nothing to do with the skies.

    • @watchyouwant1617
      @watchyouwant1617  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes and no. The current iteration and the 116900 are linked to the Bloodhound project regarding the fact that Rolex designed the cockpit instruments. But the Air-King itself dates back to the 1940ies and Rolex several pilots watch iterations
