- As we continue driving around the world in our campervan Trudy, We leave Slovenia and head over to Croatia for the first time. We find a great parking spot, get invited onto on olive farm and visit the town of Hum - A very unique town !! Don't miss the bloopers at the end !!
This is by far the most challenging OVERLANDING VANLIFE Adventure travel series that we have ever done (and possibly on youtube) one that will definitely change us for ever more. Driving around the world is going to be both a physical and mental challenge and one that will test us to the limit.

Not far from where I am in Australia, grape growers do the same thing. They plant roses everywhere, even around their houses because what’s happening to rose bushes is indicative of what might affect the grape vines. Never heard of using cherry trees here but that’s really interesting.

The grandmother said you learn something new every day. It is so as I learn something new today: the Aleja glagoljaša (Glagolitic alley) commenorating the Galgolitic script (one of the Croatian scribal traditions) starts Hum!
We have a neglected olive orchard here belonging to an organization who is not into agriculture. It's like I am inspired to work towards offering them that I buy the olive orchard and work it properly with the cherry or other stone fruit and roses!

HI Paul - actually thats a very good question and to be honest I don't know. We will have to try and calculate it - We keep track of the milage, litres and fuel cost since we set off on the latest trip. Stay safe 😀🌎🚎

Hi Angela - it is just lovely here !! Yes we try and stay near water as I love water !! and it tends to be warmer near the waters edge as you tend to be a sea level (mountains / forest are Chris' thing ... but having a home on wheels we can both be happy LOL) We have a Planar UK diesel heater from Autoterm in Wrexham - they very kindly gifted us one and the fitting as they wanted to be part of this amazing and epic road trip, we are really grateful and delighted that they did - we are super cosy at night and it has made this trip really comfortable 💜🙏🚐😍🎉 best wishes Marianne xx
What a fantastic video! You two make the best TV presenters. I was just wondering (as I've had a lot of medical and dental problems recently) what you do if either of you get ill or get a toothache? Are there facilities in each country you visit and is it easy to visit them? I absolutely loved the olive oil farm trip, though having searched for it online, can't seem to find their products anywhere, except for just a generic 'Istrian Olive Oil' type page. No wonder you're still both wearing those smiles! Strange to see bees about so early in the year. All of ours (locally, we don't keep them), are still asleep I think!
Hi Charles - great question ... we do not 'have contacts' for medical / dental issues ... But if we have a problem we will find a dental / medical doctor to help us. We are both fairly healthy and obviously as we are older, we do have dental issues now and again, and Chris has a heart tablet that he needs to take - we are going to find a doctor on the way to get some more tablets for him. But we will share this as we go. If you want the details of the olive producers - I have their telephone number and he said he can ship it!! 😘💃🎉🤗🚐👍 The bees are out there already .. he said it was early too .. but it has been such a mild winter for them - best wishes Marianne xx

Where you crossed into Croatia.... is that border section there a little disputed between Slovenia and Croatia?
WOw! that is Hum (pronounced Hoom), the smallest town in the world with a population of around 30 inhabitants, quite an interesting place. I wonder if they still do campaigns during the election of town mayor and officials?

I was there two times and as I recall, they have a beautiful tradition electing their new mayor. Throughout the year, every inhabitant gets "points" for being a kind and caring part of the community. I believe they put it on a wooden board in front of their house and everyone can give these points to whoever they feel deserves it. The person with the most points becomes the new mayor of the town. Also, the elections and all the meetings take place in their only restaurant. (where you can enjoy exceptionally amazing dishes) definitely worth a visit!

Ha Ha - we actually only eat out on camera !! the rest of the time we eat basics ... Pasta / veg / meat / bread / eggs and Cheese !! We will probably be sharing more about food as we go !! It is actually surprising how cheaply you can eat, when you are not wasting food and only buying what you need .... Chris has just served up some old nutty bread with a Croatian pepper sauce and some cheese for lunch ... sounds a bit dodge LOL - but delish !! 🤗😂😜🤔🙌 no honestly it is LOL
Please just do a little research how to pronounce the names of the towns and rivers, because it is funny and people could misunderstood you... Slavic languages are different than English...
