OMG I was expecting to wake up to another boring day,but then I saw this and had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. Thank You,Thank You , Thank You ! Now me and my cat Dottie have something to look forward to on another rainy day in Thailand. God bless you Simon,Brian and all of the other talented people for putting a smile on our faces !
Well hopefully it lived up to expectations
When I was 6 years old. I got to meet John Young and watch many videos from the moon and his talk about the mission. See moon rocks. It was so fascinating! He also signed a picture that looks just like the main picture for this video that read, “Best wishes from the moon!” Signed John Young. Someone stole my signed picture off my wall when i was 35 and I’ve never gotten over it.
Thank you John and Charlie for your service!!

Almost *12 hours??* I better load up on orange drink for this one!
Better get some snacks in too lol
@@lunarmodule5 the hot mic moments had me *_rolling_*
That's a lot of orange drink
@@More_Row aw darn i spilled some in my EVA suit helmet….
00:38:00 Hot Mic "You A**holes"
I'm fascinated with the real talk. It has a place in the whole scheme of things.
"We are on VOX ... " lol
(Apollo 13)
Gotta love John on VOX...he never failed to please lol
I know that you have been working on this for a long time. I remember watching this as it happened. I always dreamed that some day, some year, some decade that all the audio, video and photographs would be put together in one space in chronological order. By watching this video I'm learning things about this mission I never knew, thoght I did, but didn't. A masterpiece! Congratulations on a job well done!
Thanks Tom - Been a bit of a thing getting this one done - the amount of information I could have added probably twice that went into the final render - But am really pleased with the result. Thanks for the support and comment
LM5 is wondrously preserving a special history for this present and future peoples.
Well, at least attempting to!
Gracia's Jorge! That means a lot to me
Wow, this is a lot of work. I love it!
A lot of work but worth it in the end I hope
@@lunarmodule5 well, you're further documenting an episode in American history that we'd be fools to let fade away. the real value in it, as i see it, is as a source of inspiration--and proof that so much more is possible. putting boots on the moon with Artemis will be a very good thing for this country.
So glad these are uploaded
Thank you, thank you, thank you, LM5. I needed this today! :-}
Again, glad you liked it thanks
00:38:04 “you could have told me that last night, assholes!” Hot mic!
LOL
Gotta love John!
Amazing LM5! Your work always surprises me with this level of documentary that could be from a large company, but is made by you! Incredible! Thank you again for all your work cataloging these historical archives.
Thanks for this comment, makes all the effort worthwhile
Thank you from Sweden for this incredible upload of this amazing mission, like all Apollo missions. Just love how they made this happen. An incredible job from everybody involved.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. Thats another major amount of work to string this together. Ive listened to hours and hours of A16 air-to-ground, and never heard that particular hot mike at 00:38:00!
Glad you found something new!
Absolutely astounding work, Simon, especially given your data loss in the midst of it. Your dedication and efforts are exemplary, and much, much appreciated! I'm looking forward to many hours of watching, re-watching, and re-living it from my youth. An immense and sincere thank you!
You are more than welcome CSM
I've been watching for hours, this is great! I spent hours watching live, too. This was when I was in the 12th grade. Back when I knew the names of all of the astronauts from Mercury through Apollo. I don't think the US networks carried all of this, but they did provide a lot of coverage. My parents wished they didn't provide as much, LOL.
I'm quite certain that in 1972 I did not here that expression of frustration! 0:29:20, LOL
38:03 they were crusty sailors, weren't they? After that ground informs them of the hot mic, LOL. I never heard that.
I've just about finished watching. This is a work of art! I really enjoyed the animations and graphics on the rover drives, too. I'm going to watch again, maybe in segments 2-3 hours at a time.
Very good, LM5.
This comment makes me feel really good - glad to hear people are watching the whole thing. So far average views over 1000 views is 28 minutes
Hot damn!! Just got home from work and Apollo 16 EVA 1 has arrived!! Hold my calls, save my mail, slide my meals under the door. I'm going to be (joyously) busy, back to my teen years in 1972. Perhaps these videos should be called "Apollo Time Machine". Thank you, thank you, thank you, LM 5!!!
Hope it lived up to expectations
Absolutely!!!@@lunarmodule5
Excellent addition to the A16 flight information. It’s interesting to note the Increasingly skeptical questions being passed through the Capcom from the back room in regards to the astronauts reports of finding only breccias as opposed to the volcanic rocks that were expected. I think ultimately they ended up finding No volcanic rocks.
Fantastic job showing the entire days activities.. Got great videos of the moon walk but overall this audio and video really adds to my knowledgeof the mission... Well Done !!!!
Thank you Mark glad you liked it
OMG nice thanks for your work!!!
Glad you like it!
@@lunarmodule5 yeah i really do. It so crazy to see so much "new" stuff about the moon, like if it just happened. Also you see so much stuff that answers so many questions, like how they changed the magazines. Many conspiracy theorists claim it would be impossible to change the mag on the moon. Heck there is a video where he is doing it WTF haha
@@Marco-xz7rf yeah, for some reason, I don't believe many hoaxers actually would watch this all the way through....coz if they did...
Lovely stuff Simon. That's my weekend sorted.
You need to get out more lol...hope you enjoy this one
Hey, i'm working 24/7, give me a break haha. @@lunarmodule5
It’s crazy to me that this hasn’t been done before (to my knowledge). Although perhaps only with today’s tech could this be done.
I hope that Nasa has the fortitude to hire a team to compile this for Artemis for such a complete & easily accessible record.
Wouldn't that be nice...and fyi I am working on the next EVA day
Great job compiling this, LM5! I'll be listening intently for the next few days when I have some time.
Enjoy the listen but make sure you watch too!
WTF !
12 hours pure goosebumbs ?!
Thank you Simon ! ♥🪐🌙💪🖖
You are welcome Tom!
Incredible amount of work putting this together…bravo!
Thank you!
Thankyou LM5
You are more than welcome
Thank you for this! :)
You're so welcome!
Awesome as a possum with a blossom audio and video!!! Well done, LM5!!! You've really earned your pay this time!!! :) :) :)
Thank you Pine
Oh wow.
Enjoy!
Awesome as always.
Thank you
Outstanding work! Will have to watch this in chunks, I think. 😄
Yeah it's a tad long for one viewing! Hope you enjoy it
@2:56:10 Whoo, that was nice.
That is big work !
Yep, biggest one yet
Simon, what can I say that hasn't been said already. Fantastic! I never think you can top yourself, but it seems every time that you put on a new video you do just that. Great work I am watching it for the second time as I write this. I do believe that I have learned more about the first moonwalk watching your video then I have known about it since watching it over 50 years ago I if someone is that before me . Special thanks also to those who helped you in all the animation and technical work incredible. Your video should be must view for everyone interested in space history! Congratulations again, I know it will only get better from here, best wishes I can't wait to see what's next thanks again for all the great Work, and letting some of us we live our youth:) jim PS i also love the time when the guys didn't know they were on a hot mic and we got to hear them elm Netrell.
Thanks Jim...to let you into a secret...all the animations are done by me! I got to drive the rover all over the moon! What the guys give me is their knowledge and perspectives as well as providing some of the the documents and maps and pictures that I use to tell the story For instance, the drive to Spook is me understanding which direction to drive and for how long, is gleaned directly from Brian's awesome maps....then the timing of each photo is possible by using Robin's excellent timing spreadsheets....all the UV pictures and timings, also from Robin. Hard to find pictures from Ed, and Johannes archive and knowledge of checklists and diagrams is awesome. There are others too numerous to mention....hope that helps and thanks for the kudos!
11:12:30 I hope that CAPCOM got a mission later to atone for all the antics he overheard
Tony England flew as a Mission Specialist on the Shuttle
Did they ever climb one of the hillocks to get a better look around?
Just soooooooo awesome thanks mate
You are more than welcome
Another great production Simon. Thanks as always.
While we're discussing EVA1, does anyone know why they chose to conduct the 'Grand Prix' during this EVA and not at the end of EVA3?
If Young had managed to damage the Rover steering, EVA operations would've be severely limited.
Thanks Gort...I have always thought they did it during EVA1 because it was postponed from Apollo 15 and maybe they thought if they were only able to get one EVA done and had to come home early they would only have 17 to do it. In hindsight thank goodness they got it on EVA-1 as EVA3 was shortened so it probably wouldn't have gotten done
i like the checklists
Thank you
Well John, its granola that does it for me... and no deviled eggs.
Always thought it was a good thing they didn't have any beans
3:47:05 Too bad the Shuttle wound up being a bit of a boondoggle.
Saludos.
Yes am doing EVA 2 and 3 = and good luck with the Powerpoint !
@@lunarmodule5 thank you.
4:52:41 That's what we want: a core "SMAPLE"!
Hi Simon, how long did it take to upload this 11 hour EVA-1 to CZcams?
3 hours...but takes 2 more hours for the checks
38:00 hot mic 😂
5:16:08 what happened here with the videoquality? ^^
I believe that when this happens the TV video tape is not available - and is replaced by footage taken on Kinescope - see here for the way they did that an why that part of the film record looks so different in color and quality - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinescope
They sound like a bunch of hillbillies. I love it.
Haha John and Charlie were so casual and funny, yet so dang intelligent and inspiring. What a great combo of traits.
