I took my wife and stepmom to see Slipknot last year. During this song their eyes bulged out of their heads in disbelief during the chant. So fucking good.

I always took the line "this planet isn't special - collections made of clay" in an almost optimistic way, since clay is a generally used to build something, the idea that the world we live in isn't really special in of itself, instead being what we make of it, the people we meet, the time we spend and the legacy that we might someday leave to then be moulded by someone else.

I'm with you on the Stone Sour suggestions! Those blend perfectly together and are damn good songs. I could do without more Slipknot for a while. I've been wanting them to revisit Demon Hunter, Lamb of God, and Iced Earth. I have songs in mind that would bring up good conversations after the reaction.

You should review "Murder in the Front Row" the bay area thrash documentary (just released apr24). Whether you react/review I recommend you watch it...really great to understand/witness the beginning of the thrash genre. It is streamable on Amazon Prime...or buy the DVD.

This concept album is one, forty-minute song split into seven parts. Its a musical rendition of an award winning short story written by Niilo Sevanen (the Vocalist and Bassist of the band). It details a group of Vikings who set sail to find land west of Ireland despite the looming threat of winter. It is epic. You can release each one individually if you want, but PLEASE listen to it all at once to get the full effect!

In response to what you, Vin, said about being outnumbered and not having the high ground, I'll put it the way my history teacher from high school taught us. Forgive me if I get some info wrong, it's been a while. I forget exactly what the event in history was, but there was a ship headed by the British if I remember correctly. That or Spaniards. They landed at an island in what I think was the Caribbean thinking they could conquer it. It was 100 guys with muskets. There was 1000 native peoples of that island ready to fight them off. All they had were wooden clubs. There was a huge fight between the two groups. The natives won and killed them all. The way my teacher put it is, "Yeah, you can have a gun versus a wooden club and the gun will win. But 100 muskets versus 1000 clubs, the clubs will win. Not in firepower, but manpower and sheer brutality. The 100 men with muskets were stuck by their ship at the waters edge and the natives were charging them from land. The musket guys could kill 100 natives, but then they have to hope that they reload in time. They didn't. They died. In short, don't get too big for your britches, or you will be your own undoing." He was my favorite teacher because he always taught us life lessons as well as history lessons. This one I especially took to heart. I hope you and Sori have a wonderful day and life!
Gotta say again, a discussion between you both and Kyle Kulinski would be good. Where you all agree and possibly not on the means, to the complete divergence of issues either of you hold. Could be really great. Though I do not subscribe to your faith or perspective on how you come to some issues but I must agree, as the same with him in some situations, when a point is objectively made from facts that are indismissible. Doing a little word play here that ran across my mind and might sound corny.. But around the 14 minute 10 second clip, I caught some dialog regarding Sori, jokingly referring to, "losing faith in humanity." For the record, I agree (no pun intended). Slipknot released an album titled, "All Hope Is Gone" right before the album this song was recorded on. It mirrored flawlessly on several levels that I thought was worth mentioning.
