"Welcome aboard American Airlines" never gets old

As an aviation enthusiast I am a huge fan of the 787 and really love what AAL did with the business class suites. One of the biggest complaints I hear about business class is that there is not enough room to do work either on a laptop or other methods. The extended tray design is amazing and one of the best features of any business class seat on any airplane.
When the 777 was first introduced, we got similar images of a large, comfortable economy class, but the truth is that most airlines will never use the 3-3-3 seat configuration, as it is not economically viable. What most economy class passengers will get, is a cramped 3-4-3 cabin. That is exactly what happened to the 777.
But most airlines use the 3-3-3 configuration. It's more popular and convenient.
Marc Liljeqvist pretty soon it is going to be standing room only, recently airline changed the seat distance from 35 inches to 33, people demand low prices and that is how they get it.
+Marc Liljeqvist AA's 787 actually has a 3-3-3 configuration, however the plane is much narrower than the 777, the 787 was designed to accommodate 8 abreast and not 9. Shame on AA for choosing such a narrow seat. 17" width for a long haul seat is Torture, no matter how nice the aircraft itself is.
+André Garcia First of all, the 787 was designed from the ground up to accommodate 9 abreast seating. Second, the 777 was designed from the ground up to accommodate 9 abreast seating. Back when the 777 was designed, seats were a standard 18"-19" wide. As new, slim line, narrow seat designs came about and got selected, aircraft were re-designed for them to improve profitability for the carriers.
The airlines make the decisions on how they want their seats to be laid out and what type of seats to use. Currently, the new 777s are coming in mostly with 3-4-3 economy layouts, but some airlines are still using 3-3-3. Almost all 787s are 3-3-3, but the Japanese carriers chose 2-4-2. Current and future 737s and A320 series are available with 17" seats as well. Some carriers are contemplating on ordering the updated A380neo with 3-5-3 seating on the main deck, also possible with 17" seats, but Airbus is for now defending 18" seat minimums. The A350 was designed as 3-3-3 with 18" seats. It isn't wide enough to fit 3-4-3, even with 17" seats.
+harris3693 NOTHING like the MD-80 seating AT ALL.
MD-80s were designed for 5 abreast seating at 18" or more width (depending on width of aisle.) They were designed in the 1960s as DC-9.
50 shades of grey window lol
+Hugo van spaandonk If they haven't got the movie, you still won't miss it.
😜
W
Hugo van spaandonk you made my night
I flew on a Boeing 787 for the first time last week on Air Europa to Madrid...and I must say, most impressive airplane I have ever flown in. Truly amazing.
Hey hello
American Airlines is showing us extra 787 features like its ONLY on their planes...ITS NOT ;-;
Krishantha Kumaranatunga I think it's more to make the point that customers who were thinking of switching to United in order to more regularly fly 787s don't need to, because American has them too.
Krishantha Kumaranatunga So what? They are proud of their plane.
stereopolice exactly!
All of our customers planes are custom made to how they want them from Boeing. From the lights, colors, features, electronics, seats, seat configuration, seat material, etc.
+Krishantha Kumaranatunga Not on Delta it isn't.
Well, if it's dark, no lighting will come in
yes
Stop being jealous
Im not jeolus
I've been on this plane go check it out on my channel
Twitch Sxllxd lmao he’s not talking to you
"We don't have no longer shades"....wow
well...they are touch tone.
"even dough"
lol i love how you mock, i wanna see you do a presentation among multiple national channels and see if you dont stumble a word
LOL
Yo, this is a great feature for the new window.
“touch tone” shades? 😂 sign me up!
@Alexandra Meko Who even asked? No one!
@@ChrisP4342 this was the actual plane I flew out to Spain on and back. I went there once to see my aunt and that was the exact 787 I flew on and it was amazing.
@@DemonSister6 Okay... why are you replying to me on a 4 year old comment exactly? Not trying to sound rude.
It was a great honor to provide technical/ commercial on-site support as Boeing. I had the opportunity twice to support this airline as Boeing. 2001-2006 and again 2016-2021.
The captain said he flew a 757 and a 767 and he said that when he came on the plane to the cockpit he said it skipped a generation well maybe he should have flown the 777 am I right
Thats what simulators exist

Baby
Boeing: you won't get a better plane than the Dreamliner
A350: Hold my beer
Why are you comparing the a350 to the 787?😂
I’m going to fly on one of these in a few months, can’t wait!!
I love BOTH the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Airbus A350 XWB -- they are both awesomeness!!!
Same :)
We as passengers benefit from this technological competitiveness
I love the fact that It still has in flight entertainment screens!
1:05 I went on this suite. It was gorgeous. It had games and a gamepad to play the games. Movies. An adjustable chair. Yeah. Perfection.
This is the first useful news report I’ve ever seen
Fabulous video looks very trendy plane the part I liked is the seats and TV screens in front very looking nice
amazing plane! can't wait to fly it :)
Boarding this baby tomorrow! The excitement is real 😍
I came home from Chicago on one of these today. The tinting windows and color lighting are impressive. The tv in the seat is cool with tons of recent movies and interactive flight graphics ...and I was in the cheap seats.
Still, at 6'3", my knees were mushed into the seat in front of me and my shoulder sticks out into the aisle and gets bumped constantly. I honestly have more leg room on their tiny regional jets and S80s :(
The 787 is a very nice airplane with nice features but they again crammed too darn many seats into it. I'll pass next time.
Michael T uhh, what the heck are you talking about??? im 6'5" and I flew on a 787 from DFW-ORD about 2 weeks ago and I still had least 4 inches of leg room left ( in economy, by the way). and you also CLEARLY have never been on a regional jet, because they have absolutely zero leg room.
Btw, 226 seats on a 787-8 is not crammed at all. All Nippon Airways puts 335 seats on their 787-8`s, so yeah.
+Elitewarrior007 I fly all over the country every month. I hopped off a Bombardier regional jet from GRB to ORD just 45min before getting on the Dreamliner and I truly had more knee room on the smaller plane. No headroom, no shoulder room ...but more legroom.
The S80 and MD80 are also cramped but I truly have more room for my legs than the 787 offers. Perhaps your 6'5 is from the waist up, I haven't seen 4" of legroom in coach since 2005.
I like the plane and the tech is unreal but it is what it is.
Michael T Agree, even passengers on Thai, Qatar, Scoot and other Dreamliner operators complain for super cramped seats unless if you're able to fly First or Business Class. Previously My Aunt tried out ANA's 787 economy class from HND to SIN. Later she told me that she couldn't bear any longer flights after enduring 6 hours of sleepless, shoulder pain and numb foot. By the way, she is only 5'8 tall with slim waist and does not have any issue with smaller aircraft other than 787. Personally, the Dreamliner was one of my favorite too but the cabin comfort was a major letdown.
Chris58851
EliteWarrior007 335 seats in ANA 787-8 ? Are you sure you're actually flying? LOL
I died when the lady was talking and it said welcome aboard American Airlines! That face tho!
i love how they introduce something so significant with the "new" tech of the over head cabin drawer opening slowly.
Much nicer than it dropping so fast it knocks the sense or consciousness out of you.
Thanks For The Tour
LOL there was a 1 minute, no-skip, Emirates ad just before this video played!
Had amazing 1st flight on an AA 787 ( actually any 787 ) from MIA -> CLO
I had the chance to go to Chicago in first class in one of these awesome, awesome plane!! It was the best plane experience EVER!!
Business Class, but okay.
Go American Airlines and the awesome 787 with those tech smart window shades and everything else that makes it so Great. Yes!
What a beauty, also what got me interested was
We have 2 usb plugs!
Me: PHONE HERE I COME
very nice boeing-787-800s view wow beast!!!
Legroom still sucks.
I was recently on a last generation 787. It was very similar with the over head bins and cool lightning but it didn't have the shaded windows. The television screens were similar with AC adapters but were not the same.
**not 787 it was a 737
+Beefyerky How is that at all relevant to this video?
I was recently a passenger on this plane coming from Cancun to Dallas. Beautiful aircraft.
The plane is like futuristic!! I've never EVER been to B787 but I've seen it! I just wanted to ride with it....
I’ve been on 2 Boeing 787-8’s on American Airlines
The 787 is a beautiful bird, I love it
beautiful plane.
Wow!!! truly amazing
You can also check it out on the travel magazine.
i wanna be first on that plane so i can use the traytable
You're late😂 this plane started traveling last year
Honestly try premium economy no matter what.
I "love" how they selected a window seat that aligned nicely with the window to show off it's features ..., why not show off one of those awkwardly positioned window seats where the window is either behind your shoulder or nearly right by the backrest of the seat in front of you ...,
I like the window shades. I can look out the window without bothering the guy sleeping in the seat next to me.
"I flew the 757 and the 767 and this skipped a generation!" uh well yeah because you actually skipped the 777. 757 and 67 are very old planes
That's actually so cool I want to fly in this
Buenos idas! I love the pronunciation lol!
I have never been on a plane it looks awesome I must face my fear
Beautiful
apartments in hong kong are smaller than each suite of this dreamliner
Way cool!
Maybe American Airlines would be interested in custom manhole covers with American Airlines lettered around the Wassenfels Museum center image.
IFE, how American Airlines sees it - In flight entertainment
IFE, how I see it - In Flight Emergency xD
YES!! I have family in Argentina and now I can fly in the 787!!!!
Nice love american airlines
What beauty!
Very nice.
I would love to go in one of those...
what a beautiful plane. cant wait for SIA's b787-1000
That pilot knows 41,000 feet is a normal cruising altitude. That's not "higher." Most modern aircrafts can go up to 41,000 feet, including the 767 that he talked about.
Nice video %_)
flew on Ethiopian 787 dreamliner 14hours to and from South Africa great aircraft and wonderful hospitality bravo boeing nice aircraft
Why thank Boeing for hospitality? Isn't that hospitality of Ethiopian Airlines?
i would feel so claustrophobic in that cabin crew rest area !
Good Job American Airlines ! 👏🏼👏🏼
Now I'm excited for my flight because I'm riding this airplane
last row alllll the way in the back, is there a window?
Flying at 41000 feet Is revolutionary? Maybe for American Airlines but most other airlines have been doing that for a long time lol
+alan jackson Most still fly at ~30,000ft regularly, they are referring to this being capable of sustaining speed at 41,000ft for a 2+ hour trip.
***** Oh.
The longer the aircraft will be in the air the lower it will fly. Doing trans Atlantic flights is usually around 32K feet while a one hour regional flight would go up to 40,000 feet.
+The_Communist_ Texan Wow... you got that completely the opposite.
The longer the flight, the higher the altitude. Why? The benefit of high altitude is less air resistance, which allows for better fuel economy and extended range during long flights. The lower the altitude, the more fuel you use to fly. Turbofan engines are most effective at high altitudes.
When you don't have far to go, spending time to climb to high altitude and then to descend is useless. It is just faster and simpler to stay at 25k-33k feet. That's efficient enough and makes it easier to get back down. When you're flying long-distance, you may as well climb as high as you can go and burn less fuel, making more profit or enabling the aircraft to fly to a farther destination.
I just came back from a round trip flight from New York to Stockholm/Copenhagen on a 787-8 and we cruised at 41,000ft on the way to Stockholm and at 38,000 on the way to New York. The typical 737/A320 flight within the US cruises at 30,000 to 32,000.
nice inside
Awesome................
That was the Sarah Palin of flight attendants.
+madisonelectronic Thank you, but that's not me. That's Michael Rosen.
+Plumface-sama 5
+Plumface-sama Making fun of a flight attendant. What an internet tough guy you are.
+madisonelectronic That was a really intelligent remark ... is that all you have ??
Derek Knight I'm making fun of an incoherent person. Get off your high horse, you self-righteous urethra.
any wrenches in the fuel tanks?
Oh stop it airbus fan boy.
amazing plane i want to fly on one
@3:11 How could he become a Check Pilot for the 787 so soon, its still such a new plane. I don't know how he would get enough flight hours to become a check pilot for that plane. Even just getting enough hours to become a captain for 787 is still tough.
the irony is Air India,American,United still are 3 star airlines with average service and yet amazing planes like 787s in their fleet.
Air India fan to be here
Now That's What I Never Hate ❤ ✈
when the passenger in front reclines, does the passenger behind lose out?
awesome!
great plane
This has been published a day before my birthday
Some of the hardest desines is wings, cockpit,fc,BC,and, eco, lights*,cabin,fc,BC,outside
Very nice
The best economy long haul plane is still the a330, 2-4-2 sets configuration, good seats and IFE, 3-3-3 planes are a nightmare
very nice. configuration of 3-3-3 instead of the 2-5-2 like our former DC-10 standard or AFS DC-10 Transcon......very kool for cabin crews to serve and not stretch there arms toward the passengers . Job well done American
+The_Communist_ Texan JAL does 2-4-2 in economy. 2-3-2 is in Premium Economy. Which is a separate class.
thank you....................George
By the way, on a 2-5-2 layout, only a single row of passengers is two seats away from the aisle. With 3-3-3 seating, there are two rows of passengers who are two seats away from the aisle, so in fact, flight attendants reach more in the 787.
The 787 is just an amazing pice of engineering art...
+harris3693 I agree, it needs to be brought back.
+harris3693 The Concorde was useless. It was a great feat of engineering, but the damn thing burned fuel like it was going out of style. The CO2 and noise pollution was also terrible. The cost of operating was very high. These are things airlines and passengers just don't want to deal with. There is a reason airlines and the airline industry are looking for lower CO2 pollution, greater fuel efficiency, less noise, greater ranger, and a lower cost of operating. The Concorde offers none of these things.
+harris3693 When was the Concorde price the same as sonic flight? The BA and AF flights from JFK were always much more expensive. Also, while there was a lot of cache on those flights, there was little luxury on them. The interior cabin was as big as an Embraer 190 series with seats about as big as well and no WiFi or any inflight entertainment. The big luxury was time savings. On the trips from Europe to JFK you actually arrived earlier than you departed, so it was also time travel to a degree.
+harris3693 There's actually a lot of proof. The fuel consumption and regular scheduled maintenance intervals are all much more economic than the 767 and A330 they replace. There are also large savings in on-board diagnostics and the way the systems are set-up modularly. A technician simply has to get a read out of what's faulty, remove it and pack into a FedEx box back to Boeing. Then go to the warehouse and pull out the spare part and plug it back in. This was in part introduced on the C-17 in the military and it's a huge man hour savings and retains aircraft readiness.
+George Lurye Just another way 2 fix the plane. It`s gonna take some1 that noes what hes doing or I don`t care how user friendly the plane is.
this will be mine first time an I wanted to see on the inside what I was getting on
Knowing American Airlines their overhead bins will still be full by the time people sitting towards the back board
How is that a fault of an airline? Is it because they actually fly full? Is it because they allow free carry-ons?
Do the screens built in to the seats use Kodi?
AA has a lot to catch up...
Cool
Are they also gonna renew their fleet of flight attendants. Since it is as old and worn as the planes are
What is the seating capacity of this AA 787???
Nice airline
When the lady explains the luggage box, i noticed the voice in the back...
It is the same male voice of the chicago trains announcer?
Just curious. ...
love it
Cool plane
I WILL BE FLYING ON THIS PLANE ON JUNE 17, AND STILL CAN'T WAITING TO EXPERIENCE.
I generally travel in economy class. I am mostly price sensitive. So travel in any air line which is cheap.
I'm looking forward to my first flight ion AA 787
sounds like a miracle machine
I'm riding one in July!!!
This was the plane i was on when i was on the way to Spain and the way back
Those first class seats are very similar to the Yin Yang British Airways seats on the 747.
Hey AA, a question: so how is a pretty aircraft with fancy interior lighting relevant when it doesn't take off or land on time? How is that self-tinting fancy window a good thing when it's caked with face grease from the kids on the last 10 flights and you haven't cleaned it? Asking for a friend....
Wow That has everything but washer and Dryer i know i'm afraid to fly but i give it a shot and fly to over come my fear
