- Jessie, a seven-year-old black Staffordshire terrier rescue, helped pull her furry companion, 13-year-old Chucky, a Pomeranian, after he fell in their owner's pool in Boksburg City, South Africa.
In heartwarming CCTV footage, Jessie can be seen pacing up and down the sides of the pool trying to use her mouth to pull Chucky out of the water for 34 minutes as he tries to stay afloat. After several attempts the black Staffordshire, a rescue dog, manages to get a grip on the small dog and drag him out before they both scamper off in the garden.

OMG! Thanks for helping him save his friend, he never gave up! My 4-legged hero 😍 I adore you! 💗💗💗🇵🇪
each time the bigger dog lost its grip of the smaller one my heart sank deeper
Me too, I really hated it when the dog fell back into the water and it was fully submerged :( with all that fur and the amount of time they were in there it must’ve felt horrible to breath and keep themselves afloat, so so happy it turned out ok
@@spoonknifey1015 Even knowing he was eventually saved I went into panic mode when he went under! 😨
I'm so glad the little one ended up alright!
OMG! Me too! The little one’s struggling made me so sick, I fast forwarded it to the end. I hate to think what would have happened if the bigger dog wasn’t there 😑😡
Yes, I was on the edge of my seat.
like the dog did T_T
If you are a human parent or pet parent you need to secure your pool so your kids won't fall in. Glad this turned out well.
ita law here in australia..
I agree. We have a fence around ours. It’s bad enough the chipmunks drown in it at times 😑
@You're Sheep ... or the owners had no idea how dangerous a pool can be for dogs. I'd like to think they made some changes once they knew.
I like that you refer to dogs as kids
@You're Sheep Well said, idiots ,has a fancy pool but does not have common sense to know animals can fall in and drown. The dog had more brains than them.
He's trying to do it without hurting him damn man
This is why people need to put gates around their pools tbh. I worked at a vet and had a call from a distraught owner their their frenchie had drowned in their pool while they weren’t home and they couldn’t stand to have the body. Please please PLEASE monitor your pets and kids around pools!
or teach them how to swim and make a ramp so they can climb out by themselves?
Where I am living, people are not very rich and have no pools. Better than rich and dead.
Dogs can swim, those smal dogs are created by humans and have a lot of health issues. The real lesson is stop breeding those small things
Tie a wooden pallet to something at the edge (ladder?) and give the dog a chance at getting out.
Some dogs will not float/swim. Bulldogs have a bone density that gives them negative buoyancy. "Designer dogs" are bred to make women and some, "men" happy. It is not fair to dogs that form overrules function.
@@Dodger2879 they float if dogs is fat and healthy they sink if they are starved.
It’s crazy how the little dog would try his best to swim towards the big dog because he knew he was trying to help him 😭
How is that crazy? Animals are smart. Most people don't realize just how intelligent most animals are.

Or teach your dog how to get out properly
@@tank7162 you're right! How about both!!!
That’s why the boarder collie is the best dog. They cover pools themselves and then discuss politics over coffee with you.
Ban all pools
@@tank7162 Both! 👍
Valuable lesson learnt here for the owners. Either: a) supervise your dogs when they're around the pool or, b) install proper steps that an animal can use to escape. In fact all pool owners should ensure their pools are escapable because you never know when some random animal is gonna fall in.
The steps are in the corner. The little dog was too stupid to use them.
@@mc3lizard nah it was too weak. Like try jumping on land then try jumping on water with your clothes absorbing all the water. It can’t really use its arms to push itself up like a human can
Omg! This is a big warning to parents with doggies & small kids😯 so glad everything's ok😇
😔😱
The pool needs fencing, just like you would have for your two legged babies.
Very true

@@janicesullivan8942 Absolutely, considering curious neighborhood children could be endangered.
When the dogs are more responsible than the owners 🙄🤦🏼♀️
I know, right?
@@ES11777 definitely, SMH🤦 Anyone with half a brain would know got kids or animals with a pool then cover it. It would come second nature to me to cover it and anyone that thinks that it takes to longer a time to cover it ( i watched a familiar thing like this and one woman had her cat fall in and thankfully her other cat had saved, when they were interviewing her afterwards and some people were having a go at at her she used the excuse that it took too long to use and cover it it and i thought to myself that anyone who thinks that it takes too long shouldn't get one. It's that simple 🙂✌️
@@hayleyburns.9384 I have my pool open all the time and my dog is smart enough not to jump in, dogs got common sense

@@helenalford2831 Exactly, your right, they might not intentionally jump in but there is such a thing as an accident, ( i say sarcastically 👉 not a lot of people know this, it's quite a big secret but accidents happen ) 🤭😆 i shouldn't really laugh but it's just those kind of person who go ( after the fact ) "oh how i wish i would've covered the pool, if i could only go back in time i would cover it" and there is also a saying " Hindsight is a wonderful thing " but it really amazes me that we hear lots of these types of accidents happen day in day out and especially with CZcams even though i don't search for it, i get these types of accidents on my recommended all the time and people still don't think to exercise caution, it's just sad really. 🙂
Omg, the anxiety I felt when watching this. I need to hug my dog 🦥
Oh my gosh. This was so sweet. He kept trying to help while ensuring he didn’t hurt the lil pups ears. It was hard to watch him struggling to stay up in the water.
Knew it would end well but it was too scary to watch. My heart stopped each time he lost the grip.

@@stealthwomen761 _"i wanted to somehow rescue little puppy through my computer screen."_

It was frustrating to watch, because we can see that the big dog is trying to be gentle and not hurt the little one, but there was nothing for her to grab on to. She didn't want to grab the little dog's ear or leg because she knew that would hurt. But the correct place to grab the little dog -- the scruff of his neck -- was facing away from her and inaccessible.
I'm very impressed with the intelligence and compassion of this dog! It's quite remarkable. I hope she got a big steak dinner afterwards!
@@Milesco yes i could see that as well. where were the people that live there..wow
You know he ended up being okay but it doesn't make it any less intense, and I love how he didn't want to hurt him.
Aside from rescuing , he's trying too hard not hurt the other dog
Indeed. Can't imagine how hard it is when you only have a mouth with sharp teeth at your disposal.
The way he was like "So sorry did I hurt you? Kiss kiss kiss" then let goes a 1000 times. Saves his buddy in the end. Gentle giant. What a soul! ❤️👊😘
They just walked off together lmao they must have wild adventures at home.
Yes. A dog lives very much in the present moment.
Which is wonderful when you've just accidentally stepped on their tail! 😺
Very sweet. :-)
Maybe dogs have short memory or they're trying to forget the unforgettable incident. LOL
This is why you should pay closer attention to your pets.
Well, I assume the owner wasn't home. (But should've had a cover on the pool.)
If you have Any Sense!

It's incredible how the bigger dog was so concerned, and you could tell she didn't think it was a game. She looked so worried at the end too, constantly checking on her friend. Please make sure your pools are child/pet-safe, many people and animals die this way every year :(
People have lost kids like this. So fkn sad. Something that's supposed to bring you joy and togetherness. Turns out to be a death trap. Lucky this very smart dog did the job for these people.

What a hero!! The owner of these furbabies are ridiculously lucky that they had each other that day. Please cover your pools or have adequate access for animals to get out if the worst does happen....
There seems to be adequate access but the dogs obviously aren't trained to use the steps.
the dog fell on the steps. All it had to do was step out...lol.
Dogs are no more than a young child when it comes to pool safety. Keep them away from the pool when they're not supervised. The pool should be enclosed to keep children and pets out.
This could have been a neighbor's kid. Cover the pool. You have a great terrier. He's a keeper.
That little guy was looking tired when the big dog finally rescued it. Drowning was just a few minutes away.
DEFINITELY 🙄
You can see the dog was actually concerned just by his tail, so awesome too see how smart and loving these animals are if they are raised right. Don’t give a damn if it’s a Chihuahua or a pit bull, you raise them right, they will treat you right
So true, that pup deserves a nice sized steak!
I think Chihuahua is the most aggressive dog... isn't it?
No that's where you're wrong. There are certain breeds that no matter how much love you give them and raise them right, you- just- don't- get them as pets. The nature of the dog will show in time. They can snap at any time and maul you to death. Too many incidents. And the very worst, my old neighbour. They raised their pittbull in the most unbelievable loving way. The whole family and friends told them not to get a pit bull. They didn't listen. The vet was totally opposed to those pitbull breeds. The dog played with the 3 kids peacefully for years. Then one day her 6 year old played catch bubbles soap out in the garden with the dog. He snapped and mauled the poor little kid. Half her face was gone. She bled to death but survived and her face is completely disfigured. Her lips were shredded in pieces. Very very lucky to be alive. Years of repetitive facial surgeries. Esp her nose had to be built. She always has problems breathing. My neighbour always tell everyone, it was the biggest regret, decision they made. Their daughter is now 11 and literally is just not the same. To all those people who carry on... it's how you raise them... NO!!!! There are some breeds that you just don't consider pets. Eventually, they are true to their nature and can kill you. PERIOD. I would never ever ever get a pitbull breed. In some states in the country, they ban the breed. Agree
Im still getting a pitbull ✋
@@pearlsr1880 does she still have her vision and smell and heading and taste and the ability to eat and talk etc? then she has a life. so much better than what you're left with after chimps tear you apart.
but you're 100% right. some breeds or dogs are just not meant to be pets.
i love with a pitbull. it's one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known and I'm a long time big dog person. it never wants to hurt anyone but it absolutely has, accidentally. usually playing but still. pitbulls are dangerous and should not be bred or owned
As cute as this is, the fact the steps aren’t short enough for a dog to get out is honestly sad and scary
I know right. Imagine building a pool in your back garden and not take into consideration making the steps small enough for small creatures to use. Selfish human beings.
@@benm5936 They're only selfish if they knew better and chose to put their pets in danger. Now they know better.
@@benm5936 I hope your comment is sincere because it absolutely SHOULD BE.
@@curiouscanuck It should have been common sense for them to think that through before building the pool. If it were a toddler instead of a dog I'm sure you wouldn't think the same.
You can change it, there are a lot of possibilities and you can do it yourself. Or you have to cover the pool or let the dogs inside, when you're not at home. You have a responsibility towards children or animals!

We had an old dog with arthritis in his back legs spent his whole life with our pool (50 feet from the house) but fell in one morning when no one was with him. When you have a house with a pool, make sure all your children and pets are trained to swim so that drowning accidents can be prevented.
Better yet, keep them covered.
Yeah, the issue here though was that the dog could swim, but not get out on his own and so would have drowned from exhaustion without help. You could see him getting more and more tired and dipping deeper as the big dog lost grip. Also, children can drown in an inch of water if say they hit their head and fall face down, or play rough w a friend who accidentally drowns them. Pools should always be covered when not supervised by an adult.
Cesar had an episode where he taught a small dog how to get out of the pool. How to use the steps.
