  • In todays episode we will be prepping the 944 Turbo's Fuse/Relay panel for assembly as well as showing you exactly how the wiring diagram relates to the layout of the fuse/relay panel, this also applies to the birds nest of gray wiring under the Porsche 928 fuse/relay panel.

This series is invaluable! Thank you very much!! Keeping the pieces seperated by layer keeps this from being a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle, but not impossible due to the insets marking how they go. Wish someone would make/sell the plastic connectors new, they just crumble when you pull them from the panel.

Love the content! Any more 78-86 928 content will get eaten up!

I will be working on a 4.5L 928 engine soon. It's apart, but we're going to rebuild it.

Russ, thanks for explaining the logic in the design of this fuse panel. Mathematically speaking, the design is based on matrix algebra in which the fuse panel design is expressed as a three dimensional matrix composed of layers, rows and columns. It is a very ingenious design, and I wonder if this is unique to Porsche, or is it also used by other oem’s in the design of their fuse panels. Have you seen any similarities in fuse panel designs from other car brands that you have worked on? It would be interesting to know the opinion of automotive electrical engineers who specialize in these devices to know the pros and cons of this type of design.

Hello, and thank you for being a part of our project. Very interesting about the design of the panel. I've never heard that being explained like that. I've worked on many makes of cars, and the 944 /968 so far are the only ones.

Great video! Currently I do the same: checking the relay panel because the wiring harness is burned. BTW: "Sich." means "Sicherung" which is German for "Fuse"...but pls don't ask me why the relais are called G 1-19....I can't give you a good translation for this "G", Sorry.

Do you recommend any type of electrical contact cleaner that has a corrosive protection in it, for the parts you cleaned?

I just used some penitrating oil in a spray, I like the sea foam brand. But, a good bath in baking soda and water would have been a good idea. Also, corrosion x is a good product.

@@EuropeanAutoCraftStudios what would the baking soda concoction do for these copper parts?
