Sebastian Vettel - Monza 2011 Parabolica - Blown diffuser sound
Vložit
- čas přidán 13. 09. 2011
- Shot from the top of the 21C grandstand. Vettel romps to victory ahead of Button, Alonso, Hamilton and Schumacher.
The sound you hear when they lift the throttle is the sound of the exhaust overrun. The engine is still blowing gases through the exhaust even when no throttle is applied. This was done to maximise the airflow through the diffuser. Aptly named "blown diffuser". This is now banned from 2012 and on. - Sport
Everyone used to complain about this sound but personally I loved it, it was pure aggression... what F1 should sound like!
12sin8 Yeah, F1 needs agressive sound ! It's even more spectacular
People complained about this?!
@Dr Chad ThunderCock i see ur point but what is there to cancel to make merc less dominant
@Dr Chad ThunderCock I hated this sound since I first started following F1 around 1989. I much more prefer the 1970s sound.
@@jeshkam This sound didn't start in 1989. It's the sound of a blown diffuser. It didn't sound anyway near this until the 2010 Red Bull.
Man that Red Bull diffuser is brutal sounding
All of the teams using the Renault engine had a brutal sound. They were all loud obviously, but I can't explain how loud the front exhaust design of the Lotus was... It literally shook the ground when it came by. I was at the 2011 Canadian GP.
@@jraybay lucky guy
It's because Vettel used to hold down the clutch pedal on the steering wheel and stay a tad bit on the throttle with his foot to generate even more downforce under braking even tho the car was mapped out to do that automatically
BWWWWH, BWWWH, BWWWWWWWWWWHHHH
Pure fucking F1. What a beautiful sound.
I started watching formula 1 a few years ago and I heard that some guys complained about that sound 😢😢
Imagine the V10 cars with blown diffusers and slick Bridgestones/Michelins I would shit my pants in the onboard, let alone in person
This man has to hear about Alonso bringing out his old V10 championship Renault at Yas Marina 2020
@@pedroantoniopenazimmerman449 blown diffusers
this response may be 4 years late but the v10 cars did have blown diffusers (sort of) (not really) one of the concepts of the unraced mp4-18 was a blown diffuser it just took newey a few years to get it right
@@dcnumber9 The McLaren MP4-15 and MP4-16 did have blown diffusers that’s how they had that distinct shriek
The footage you asked for has seen the day, here, to shit your pants : czcams.com/video/L96tYRRF1qI/video.html
LOVE that sound. Makes it sound like some terminator machinery.
Everybody here seems to forget that traction and launch control was banned in 08. So not only did 04-05 drivers have more power, they also drove closer to the limit more easily
You can't say that, all the "it was better in the V10 era" circlejerkers will get triggered
Im one of those circlejerkers. Seeing 22 V10 F1 cars at turn 1 at the IMS was amazing. So lucky to have seen Schumacher and Mika race against each other.
To be honest, those V10 monsters without TC would've been almost untamable... But if you could drive them to the limit with no mistakes, not using TC actually makes the cars go faster. No TC would mean those V10 era cars could go faster, but at the same time it would also make the drivers more prone to spinning those cars. Also, those 04-05 cars didn't have the downforce tech of the current cars or even the V8 era cars.
@@grimm6jack that's wrong on multiple levels, TC makes cars faster because you have the optimum amount of rotation everytime you floor it in a give cornef, aside from that, the V10s had very little torque, making it way easier to modulate through the power range
@@thomson765 naaa man tc makes it slow, especially if youre driving style is like verstappen, kimi etc. Im sure you can turn off them in those days aswell
i want this back in f1!
Till this day we still want it back. Salute.
would be interesting to hear this on a V6
Man that sounds sick... I want them back so much, both the v8's and the blown diffuser... Can't believe they were illegal after 2012... sAd
I just love that when they brake they blow and when they accelerate its a beautiful transition to the normal accelerating sound
Just pure perfection this sound.
For me this is the peak of f1 sound (besides mp4/6 nothing sounds better to me in the world then that) just the screaming of the engine to the sound of the blown diffuser is just so good
Yeah I agree, it just sounds aggressive to an unbelievable level. Also, never thought I'd see another Sam Tabor other than the skateboard CZcamsr!
I'd have this sound over the rubbish that comes out of the cars these days
To be fair, the Honda engine sounds really good
What an original comment
Oh fuck off these v6 sound as good as these 👌 i don't understand these plastic fans that only care about some old engines
@@jounaas I mean I dont hate the v6, they’re very technologically advanced, but they in no way sound as good as the v12s and v10s, or even the v8s for that matter, and some of us just want the feeling of engines so loud that they shake your body and blow out your eardrums if you don’t wear protection
@@jounaas no they don't
I was near you!! What a beautiful sound the Red Bull...Just Amazing!
Beautiful sound
Man This Is Epic!
Amazing sound!!
what an almighty sound
I cry every time knowing we're never gunna experience this in F1 ever again
Goosebumps
@MusicalAndTall I agree. I love the sound of technology in the morning.
that triple maxed out my headphones it was so good.
those sound man.. those dam sound
It's the sound of hot blowing in the exhaust (fueling being ignited 45% after the engine outlet, so somewhere half way through the exiting exhaust), while the cutting to 4 cylinders technique is under acceleration during/after corners, and is to save fuel and also to smooth out the torque.
That's the sound of performance
man that sound is music to my ears, makes me all tingly all over. lol....love me some F1
Nice video by the way :->
That sounds like a world championship to me!
Amazing
THIS IS THE F1 IN DIRECT IS SO BORED SEE IT IN THE CIRCUIT
Pure bliss
Its like the v8 version of v6 honda. Love it.
Suzuka 2004 was wet all weekend because of a typhoon if i remember correctly. They barely had any running on friday and saturday practice was cancelled altogether. Qualifying was held on sunday.
So i assume the cars hadn't optimized their setups + very little rubber on track + the track was still slightly damp in qualifying. I think that should account for the 3 seconds.
This is what F1 should be, pushing the limits of automotive engineering and making monstrous machines in the process.
1. Because it is the sound of pure innovation and engineering. Newey and his team thought of the EBD for 2011 before anyone else, and the RB7 destroyed its opposition. No, it doesnt sound like tram going slow, it sounds like a symphony of microprocessors perfectly utilizing octane and the exhaust the produce an immensely low pressure system on the underside of the diffuser. Ps, Toro Rosso did 344kmh at Monza in 2011.
1988 cars had 1000+hp, with slower lap times but it was amazingly good.
When Diffuser and 18.000 rpm are united=
Holy shit, that sound is something😍 It's ashame that we'll probably never hear that sound in F1 again😢
At the time most people were complaining about how ugly it sounded, I remember Brundle on commentary always explaining to any new viewers that the blown diffuser is why the cars sound like “a plumber emptying his tool bag all over the floor” or another one was “a bunch of nails in a blender”
I think it’s just mostly nostalgia that people say they like this now because at the time pretty much no one liked it.
@@jk844100 I’ve always liked the sound when watching the races live on TV. It’s a much better sound than we’ve got now😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The engine sound of the Lotus x Renault is very good
I love it
After 10yrs we will miss v6
Redbull mastered off throttle blowning in 2011. The RB7 was on rails that season
This sounds better than anti-lag
Why does the blown diffuser sound in sync with the downshift?
I´m Vettel Fan... He´s the best :P
Little did u know what was going to happen
What I'd do to hear du bist weltmeister again
Damn! The speed at which you can take a corner in an F1 car...holy shit.
2 seconds at Bahrain.
Comparing 2013 laptimes with 2009 leads me to believe 2013 would have been faster than 2009 in Australia had it not been wet, and thus actually comparable to 2004 despite being 42kg heavier.
2011 pole @ Suzuka is 3 seconds quicker than 2004 by the way.
Thats what F1 should sound like 👍
from what i saw he was far from falling asleep. different people like different kind of racing, I like it when its tight racign with some beating and banging. There is no point comparing different kinds of motorsportsbecause there is just one thing all motorsports have in common there all exiting in there own way
Is the knocking/backfire the blown diffuser or is it the engine cutting off 4 cylinders to save fuel?
also der sound aleinenwars schun wert formel 1 live zu sehen des is ja gänsehaut pur hammer geil unglaublich der sound ....
Vettel is God!
god bless 2011
Il Sound..ripaga il costo del biglietto..👍
2021..No sound..No ticket😉😂
people love the v10s and the v12 but come on, the v8's were something out of this planet. You would hear the sound of the f1 cars 1 minute before they arrived to you thats how loud and amazing sounding they were.
It sounds like the fucking world is ending I love it!
@NascarFan738 It sounds fucking amazing, not terrible.
Not sure if its the video but with the Red Bull the blown diffuser noise is alot louder than the other cars, they were suppose to be the best at using this tech so would make sense
They had the best engine to do that, even Merc admitted they were not able to do such mapping. When you listen to all the engines, you realize how much the Renault blows, before and in the parabolica. Fatal weapon. Very nice video, thx.
Bertrand H Bertrand H No they just don’t. FIA gave them an exceptional treats to have like 40% open throttle with 0% fuel being injected under deceleration to improve engine reliability as what they call as a cold blown engine overrun. This cold air helps cool down the cylinder block as well as the burning hot exhaust valves as we already known that Renault engine aren’t as reliable as Ferrari or Merc engine even today (2018 season) but turn out that they use that allocation to gain an aerodynamic advantage by sealing the rear diffuser from a rear tyre squirt hence their crazy performance from 2010-2013. While engine overrun aren’t allowed in F1, Merc has discussed with the FIA to allow the other teams to run 25% engine overrun so that they can match RedBull performance which seems unfair the rest of the team if they don’t have the same allocation. With a little consideration, FIA allowed them to run an aforementioned engine overrun mapping which agreed upon but little did FIA know that Merc have a some tricks up on their sleeves. They know that have one the most reliable engine (Ferrari also known that they got one too) with this new mapping, they injected an extra fuel under deceleration and instead of burning on correct timing they delayed the timing and burn all the hot air/fuel mixture and send all the hot gasses directly to the exhaust system which create a stream of a jet flame thus matching the performance of a Redbull coldblown system. This system work much like an anti-lag system use in turbocharged rally car. Why FIA banned this system and relocated the exhaust system so that no one can have any benefits of a cold blown or even hot blow? First, the hot blown is inefficient which is contradict from the direction of this sports is heading. This system use like 10% more fuel per race. Second, it hurts the tyre manufactures. This system create a hotspot around the inner side of a tyre wall. The tyre needed to be specifically design to withstand this extremely hot temperature thus increase is manufacturing cost if that make sense.
This is what i'm talking about. F1 should be racing. Wheel to Wheel, defensive driving, not pushing a button and drive by.
Show me a real battle in the last 3 years.
NIIEEEEWWWWWWW.....GRRRRB...GRRRRBB...GRRRRBG
Vettel - Alonso - Schumacher - Hamilton - Button
watch?v=ugya2BLzwI0 it was half wet half dry.
At one point you're right. 2011 Pole was faster then 2004, but you forget 2005 cars set their qualifying lap on full tanks since Monaco. And Monaco fastest lap was Kimi with 1:13.6 and was faster then Pole of 2011. And Pole of Turkey with 1.7 seconds was faster, but with empty tank. Believe me, you're not right. The tyres are so grippy since 2010, it is phenomenal. +DRS+KERS.
After Taco night:
Reminds me of the a10 cannon lmao
I wonder how it would sound a V12 with Blown diffuser
Its like a masonry drill hitting a rebar inside the wall
The fact that the blown diffusor was eliminated and that they went to a V6, ruined F1. I thought this was a sport of pushing the limits of a track, not pocket books and the environment.
They are faster now.
I agree I’ve been to races from both eras. F1 blew me away the first time I saw it. Now it’s just not the same.
It wasn't an environmental goal... They're faster. Significantly so. Hell, the fastest car, not just F1 car, ever built (the 919 EVO) is a hybrid with a 2L V4. A small internal combustion engine with a massive electric motor is generally faster than a big internal combustion engine. It's critical that racecars can accelerate as quickly as possible when they exit corners. The instant torque of electric motors will beat even the best internal combustion engines, every time.
(On the ground, anyways. Clearly, jet engines work pretty well)
If anything is ruining F1, it's the death of small teams + the death of competitive racing. Looking forward to cost caps.
@@DGFishRfine1 the death of small teams is related to the ridiculous cost of these hybrid engines.
@@MD-uu5nt you are correct, but only partially. Huge teams (e.g. Merc) do indeed pour stupid amounts of money into their engines, but it is technically possible to build a great engine for nowhere near Merc money. However, the outgoing system perpetuated a feedback loop which meant that teams which could outspend also got more funding (because they won). The inverse was also true, and that squeezed many smaller teams out of existence.
Coming up with an innovation that, at the time to the FIA was perfectly legal, is not cheating. That's like being better at someone else in basket ball is cheating.. lol
Philton...There is a cost cap in Basketball , football and baseball.....F1 until now had no cost cap!
The rbr's downshift sounds like GGGRRR..GRRR.GRRR.GRR.
No. I think that other sports are big sports too.
But Formula 1 is the highest level of the sport.
Is extreme, very fast, no time to think like in others.
Is man and machine.
I usually say that the Human was not the last specie that arose on the Earth, was the Machine. An artificial and abiotic specie created by man.
Gean de Oliveira.

Thunder Racing Karts.
Thanks, you too, troll.
Prot, Prot, Prot.
That corner is haunted by the ghosts of von Trips and Rindt.
@MrFerraristadoc What?
Can only do it so much i think. Heat goes up 100 degrees almost instantly just from hot blowing.
Loud and greasy. Just like the old days!
No it's not. Because 2004 Suzuka was half wet, half dry. You can't compare.
2009 were also v8, i talked about 2000-2005.
By the way. The only reason why this f1 cars nowadays in qualifying are so quick, is because of tyres. 2005 they had hard tyres, some say even "woodtyres".
And they have DRS+KERS and they are still 4 seconds a lap slower. It's ridiculous.
At some race tracks they have almost the speed of 2004, but just in qualifying. In Race conditions, there are more than 5 seconds slower
Its sad that motorsports is going back in time .I would pay 10 times the ticket price to be there .
@lethaldosage6040 It's the greatest sport in the world. The rest is merely games.
The V8s sound ok. V6 in 2014 :(
power of honda..beautiful sound
*Renault
Haha good call. Some people are just ignorant.
*WEEEEEEEEE GRRRR GRRRR GRRRRRR*
LOL. That is the sound precisely! :D
@NascarFan738 Because your precious NASCAR is still running engines from the 60's?
At the rate of NASCAR's development, it would probably take over 100 years for them to equal F1 laptimes of the current era. Right now, an F1 car from 40 years ago would give the 2012 Sprint Cup cars a run for their money.
And you too.
good old days, not like the current microwave ovens
Nice but It'll never be as baddass as the 3.0 ferrari v12 downshifts
red bulls very loud
I'm not a fan of Vettel, so good job there :-)
Sounds to me like traction control!
Трекшен был уже под запретом.
Definitely mad lollol
GT7 red Bull. Das Spiel hat sogar den Vettel 👆🏻❤❤❤

@Ferrariman601 no shit a nascar isn't built with high downforce highspeed cornering in mind its just about the tight and exiting racing, F1 is good but you cant get it just as exiting as any tin top racingcar without much downforce and i cant understand why pepole compare nascar (or any touringcar gt) with formula one its like comparing a van against a mercedes and just because nascar uses old tecnology dosent mean that the racing isn't exiting PS. Kimi got beaten in a nascar ;)
crackle crackle good for monke. monke more crackle crackle
Not the prettiest sound, but it's raspy and 'mean' and MUCH more 'racy' than the drone of the V6 turbos. :)
Not the prettiest sound? This feels like an orgasm for my ears
2009 being V8 is irrelevant, I was using it as a comparison point for 2013 (2009 comparable to 2004 in Aus, and 2013 is faster than 2009)
I can bring up more than just Suzuka (the pole lap was set in the dry anyway), 2011 is quicker in Australia and Monaco too, and a full 1.7 seconds faster than 2005 at Turkey.
The reason F1 is quicker nowadays is because the cars are faster. Stop searching for excuses.
Race structure is completely different now, you can't even begin to compare them.
blown or not, the sound won't be different, so why not just call it V8 sound
Wrong. There is less aero than there has been now than over the past years eg. 2004-2008. They had SOOO much downforce.
U mad? u mad. Can't take the fact that someone disagrees with you and that you are generally wrong. hahahahahahhahaa
Learn some chemistry, boy. Ozone depletion is caused by CFC's, not the combustion of octane and oxygen.
Best in the cheaters club.
Just because Ferrari sucks at innovating anything doesn't mean every that does so is cheating.
