    Been driving the petrol version for a year. Love it! It does exactly what a car should do - not less, not more. But the twist is that Iwhen I tried it out at the dealership, I found myself smiling as I was driving! Went from a -07 Astra, and have not looked back since.

    It's a good cheap vehicle despite all the idiotic comments. If you want to get a better car spend more money. A good choice for a young person who wants a brand new vehicle.

  • @MaximilianvonPinneberg
    @MaximilianvonPinneberg Před 10 lety +54

    Matt, you seem to be wishing you were driving a Golf. Which considering a 1.6TDi with the torsion beam rear suspension and options such as full side airbags, rear parking sensors and full iPhone connectivity is nearly £27,000!!! Your sarcastic tone throughout highlights your lack of objectivity. The soft suspension is much more appreciated than the skateboard ride of an Audi S-Line. Especially in more rural areas with poor road surfaces. Yes it is cost down to the nearest cent, but what do you expect for such a cheap car? This is less than the base model Polo even in Laureate trim.

    • @matth1j
      @matth1j Před 2 lety +1

      I don't think he's being harsh - he's pointing out why it's cheap. That is, yes, you save money, but there's a price you pay for cheapness in terms of lack of features/qualities you'd get in more expensive cars. You need that information to make an informed decision (like I'm trying to do at the moment). Apologies for the delayed response :)

  • @GlossaME
    @GlossaME Před 10 lety +37

    You can nag all you want about beeing cheap and so forth, but I see more and more of this cars on the road, meaning that the average brit is more then happy to own one. And, they are quite reliable, no funny lights in the dashboard after 20.000 miles (fiat, alfa romeo, vw and audi sometimes), no absurd prices for regular service intervals. Conclusion, where there is demand, you have offer.

    For what it is, this car seems good value. Problem is, reviewers constantly compare to more premium models, which is unfair as this is a budget car, and tend to point out the negative aspects unfairly too. Its like as though he is trying to find faults and make out the car is worse than it actually is. I like this guy doing reviews, but we need to get away from the comparisons and let us, the potential buyers, see for ourselves in a showroom. If I was looking for a new car, I wouldnt go to a dealer and sit in a car and then say the interior is not as good as a fiesta etc, because if I thought that, then why go and sit in a dacia? If I like a car, I buy it. People are too fussy, and thats why so many get into huge debt to get so called trendy models with the 'right' badge on it. Muppets

      Tarik El-Yabani Dacia made cars since the 1960s. They just did not export any. And don't forget that Dacia is owned and run by Renault. you build your cars out of outdated Renault parts, where they had years of time to iron out difficulties and you then don't put much equipment inside and no new / modern tech at all, then there should be nothing that could go wrong.
      Also there is a general problem with driver satisfaction surveys. A person that buys a cheap car does not expect much and is therefore already happy if the car works just fine. Another problem can be that people tend to "defend" their favourite brands or try to justify their own choice of car by trying to get it high in the ranking. Stupid, but happens...

    While it is cheap if you get the top of the range model with options like sat nav parking sensors, manual aircon fog lights it is at the same price if not more expensive than for example an entry level toyota corolla sedan (here is around 13500 euro), which even in the lowest spec has almost every option of the max spec sandero stepway, except the sat nav which isn't that well positioned anyway and the fog lights, but with the corolla you get 9 airbags, hill assist , DRL, a nicer interior and exterior and overall a safer car.

      Martin Jones
      Well I don't know why in uk they don't sell the Corolla or why you get the Auris base model with 18.450 euro but in my country you can get the Toyota Corolla starting 13.600 eur and the Auris starting 14.808 eur both with the 1.33 dual VVTI petrol engine and at the same time the top of the range Sandero Stepway costs around 13.800 euros (roughly the same as UK). Anyway my point is that at the top of the range model you can see that the sandero is not much cheaper when compared to other what other brands offer

    What apart stupid snob comments,I have a sanders it’s the best car I ever had,it’s never let me down.
    He moans at the gear lever being clunky ,what idiot rams the lever backwards and forwards like he did
    Obviously not his car. I have a 1.2 and towed a box trailer with three Vespa scooters in it all the way from Portsmouth to Leeds.
    Staying at 60mph it still gave me 46 mpg.
    Don’t knock this car till you owned and drove one.

    I went to have a good luck at one of these stepways for my elderly neighbour as I'm quite knowledgeable on motors and from the outside it looked the business. nice compact design however moving into the cabin and what let down very cheap materials the roof lining is the cheapest I've ever seen like compressed cardboard really thin. I'm no badge snob I drive a Octavia but the Skoda is much better built than the dacia. the switch gear is a lot better seats sound proofing everything. It just didn't do it for me can't see it being very durable long term. It is cheap though and would be a bargain second hand.

      Which will be more than the current version if the latest Octavia is to go by. VAG are introducing a new 'budget' brand below Skoda / SEAT so expect prices to migrate to VW ones. Therefore will be a lot more than this Sandero.
