"The more rugged Dacia Sandero Stepway offers spacious, well-equipped and affordable family transport." - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Been driving the petrol version for a year. Love it! It does exactly what a car should do - not less, not more. But the twist is that Iwhen I tried it out at the dealership, I found myself smiling as I was driving! Went from a -07 Astra, and have not looked back since.
It's a good cheap vehicle despite all the idiotic comments. If you want to get a better car spend more money. A good choice for a young person who wants a brand new vehicle.
Matt, you seem to be wishing you were driving a Golf. Which considering a 1.6TDi with the torsion beam rear suspension and options such as full side airbags, rear parking sensors and full iPhone connectivity is nearly £27,000!!! Your sarcastic tone throughout highlights your lack of objectivity. The soft suspension is much more appreciated than the skateboard ride of an Audi S-Line. Especially in more rural areas with poor road surfaces. Yes it is cost down to the nearest cent, but what do you expect for such a cheap car? This is less than the base model Polo even in Laureate trim.
I'm suprised he's being harsh on this car for the price it's really good In my eyes
I don't think he's being harsh - he's pointing out why it's cheap. That is, yes, you save money, but there's a price you pay for cheapness in terms of lack of features/qualities you'd get in more expensive cars. You need that information to make an informed decision (like I'm trying to do at the moment). Apologies for the delayed response :)
You can nag all you want about beeing cheap and so forth, but I see more and more of this cars on the road, meaning that the average brit is more then happy to own one. And, they are quite reliable, no funny lights in the dashboard after 20.000 miles (fiat, alfa romeo, vw and audi sometimes), no absurd prices for regular service intervals. Conclusion, where there is demand, you have offer.
Well, the Captur is not just a bit more expensive, it's a LOT more expensive!
A much better car to drive. I'd rather spend the extra cash for more a comfortable car.
Somtimes i watch these videos for entertainment purpose and don't really considering buying a car right now
Same me
Same here .... I'm just 13 but I'm still watching these as I'm a car person :D
Same but I love SUVs and convertibles. Which car do u want I can buy it for u for yr 17th birthday
I would like a BMW 6 series gran coupe !
OH MAI GAWD THANK YOU FINALLY
James May is drooling
For what it is, this car seems good value. Problem is, reviewers constantly compare to more premium models, which is unfair as this is a budget car, and tend to point out the negative aspects unfairly too. Its like as though he is trying to find faults and make out the car is worse than it actually is. I like this guy doing reviews, but we need to get away from the comparisons and let us, the potential buyers, see for ourselves in a showroom. If I was looking for a new car, I wouldnt go to a dealer and sit in a car and then say the interior is not as good as a fiesta etc, because if I thought that, then why go and sit in a dacia? If I like a car, I buy it. People are too fussy, and thats why so many get into huge debt to get so called trendy models with the 'right' badge on it. Muppets
Dear Matt, normal people don't shift gears like you showed here in the review! So don't complain about the shifter making so much noise if you're literally f***ing it up!!
This car has the sane diesel engine like Renault Captur, Nissan Juke and Mercedes A Class
It vibrates like any diesel car, definitely your hands don't get numb unless you have other medical issues.
+WhiskyPentruFete
Those cars, could be using better engine mounts.
renault gearboxes are the best.he's the one slaming it
My now scrapped C5 had a very smooth quiet two litre HDI engine. The rest of the car was crap. Never ever buy French!
Exactly I have this car in 2016 model and I find it perfect for my needs. Don't you love that they get paid to give bad reviews. Pretty sad if you ask me
Dacia is very underrated. I see many badge snobs out there. It's like trying to convince waitrose customers to shop at aldi. Cars and food are the same, as long as you have have the quality then why pay more
Exactly basically the same people who have iPhones.
When it costs three times as other phones that do essentially the same thing .
No it's not the same. Stop with that kind of bs. Drive a Dacia and then drive a Volvo, a BMW, an Audi, a Mercedes. Big freaking difference. Safety, comfort, the driving itself etc. No way to compare two totally different things.
@@tsiou6931 keep telling yourself that lol
@@SamanthaGuttesen keep telling myself what? That is a big difference between a volvo and a dacia? Where are you living in a cave?
I drove the ambiance and it certainly wasn;t clunky when changing gear
You did it again Mat. The review started out so positive. But once you went into the negatives, oh boy did you ever!
I live in the UK, not the artic, and have never used aircon. When it's hot, roll down the windows.
What if they don’t want the noise, of the wind blowing in there face
Driving with the windows rolled down at more than 100 km/h is pretty uncomfortable imo.
I live in Athens.
I NEED air con
Lol exactly.
Common sense is in short supply these days
Having a window down makes the car use more fuel when you are on the move. I use AC if needed at speeds above 30mph.
I drive a Dacia Sandero Stepway 0.9 Laureate (63 plate).
I have a diesel one (Euro 6) and I can tell you that the diesel isn't noisy or shaky at all. They either had one with problems in the test or they're just talking crap.
Spoke crap the entire time. Is he paid to make these videos? Refund required.
Talking crap, I've got the same engine in my Kadjar, no vibrations or shaking.
Same engine in the Mercedes a180cdi
thank you for testing affordable cars for the mass
The gearbox would make a noise if you slam it in like that!
kinda sound satisfying
renault gearboxes are the best.he's the one slaming it
@@imadkrouf2099 "Slaming"? wtf does that mean?
Much better car than I expected by watching all of youtube reviews.
Another great review - thanks Matt. I must admit to having no intention of buying one of these but watch for the entertainment value. The staples in the carpet made me laugh but overall these are a lot of car for the money.
Dacia Sandero Stepway is a smooth drive. The car is very good for women and young women.
(the 0.9 tce version)
i drive one right now ....i love it
GREAT NEWS
What?
@@finniandonovan7020 James May
I kinda want one of these.
Good job with the elderly impression.
Was he trying to rip off that gear lever? :)))
Funny things this little british car shows.
I like your reviews but I must say that Dacia Sandero Stepway is very quiet car. I own a Stepway 2016, 1.5 dCi.
Altin Alihajdari spetway with the 1.5 engine is like a plane . i mean . the engine is very powerfull for a 1000 kgs car
Also very economic car
i agree, my stepfather gots a 2017 1.5 dci its a very good car for its Money, only at over 60 mph the wind noise is annoying, but seriosly... its a BUDGET car. if you want something more refined, buy another make.
CarBuyer offers the best reviews...too bad none of the cars are for sale in my country...
If British public can snub Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, and shop at Lidl and Aldi, surely they can ditch other makes and buy a Dacia. For the price you can't go wrong.
According to wikipedia, the stepway is only half an inch taller than the regular sandero. Is the height difference really that noticeable?
Great video Matt, very well done review.
How do i turn high beams on ita confusin
And ps was that Sat Nav drawn on? :/
My family will get a Sandero Stepway next week, and the tailgate has a button you push/press in to open it
Please do the Logan MCV at some point...
James May probably reviewed this video and liked it :)))
why havent you reviewed the dacia logan?
Know it is 2020 and there are lot's of options out there.
would you make a new review of a renault/dacia Sandero Stepway
0.9 Tce 90 prestige to justify if things have improved and it's price (for a young family with single child) of a 14.500 euro (that is the price in Croatia).
I know there must have been other people who have shouted this out already, but I can't help, "GOOD NEWS!!"
Wow are you shifting? or trying to rip of the freaking stick?
is it a reliable car in windy weather?
Do the Logan MCV next!!
Air conditioning is only needed in hot countries....like California etc..
Not the Arctic.
An air-conditioner is a type of refrigerator.
In cold countries (Northern Europe, Alaska , etc.) you just need the heater.
My mum got a megane dci 110 which was 2 years old for same price as a basic one of these and it only done 12000 miles ino which one I would have
Reminds me of a high spec Chev Spark LT & LTZ
"Great News! This is the new Dacia Sandero ! It is taller than before !"said james may.
Need to buy a used car and have 4000 quid. Been looking at Jukes and then Sandero stewy comes across as "low" in snob eyes. Can anyone with a stepway tell me what would you have gone for??? Please??
I like how the steering wheel flops down. Lol
Not planning on watching the video...just wanted to see if there were james May comments
It's the Dacia Sandero! - Captain Slow A.K.A. James May
Mat I am willing to bet anything, that on any car in the world if you pull so hard on the gear shifter, it will make that clunking noise, so no argument there. I agree it is cheap , but hey it was not meant to compete with Mercedes or even Ford Fiesta. in terms of a new car it doesn't have to many rivals in it's class with it's price tag
Looks better than the Normal model that Rebecca reviewed
I really doubt about shakes in steering wheel and pedals or the grearbox ''sound''.
Great car for its price
I like this model more than any model of Dacia. Too bad it hasn't a 4wd version.
Doesn't make it easier to load the boot. Got to lift stuff higher from the ground.
Matt should be on top gear!
Good news!!!
Nissan Juke or sandero stepway?
GREAT NEWS!!!
What?
Snob !
Cheap plastic?
Guess what? All plastic is cheap and all car makers are using it
+WhiskyPentruFete
And some plastics are brittle, others are soft.
I am driving this car for almost a year now and I have no issues with it.
The materials used inside for the dash are nothing less than what you find in a 2014 Ford Focus. The same ribbed plastic.
The interior is simple and lacking in style but there is no fault with it.
+WhiskyPentruFete ALL car manufactures are using it? I drive a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. There is no such plastic. It is leather everywhere, even on the roof, don't make false accusations against car manufactures. The Upper-class cars are very nice and acceptable indeed.
I am not making any false accusations.
I said "most car manufacturers" are making the dash out of plastic.
If you make a purpose to find exceptions you will. Personally I would not enjoy leather on the roof but everyone is different.
How much is a brand new Mercedes S Class?
Dacia is the best deal not the most impressive car.
If you can afford a brand new S Class, congratulations!
+WhiskyPentruFete he want to hug it so it must be soft, soft expensive plastic. Ps. most dumb review i ever saw is that vid.
Who changes gears like that????
James May will be happy...
I have 2008 sandero and gearbox is not making that shit sound like this car
Another of this generation that have combined with manufacturers and given us cars that cannot go near any kerbs without grounding.
Good review.
Also, Dacia took fifth place in the AutoExpress satisfaction survey, beating even the Germans in reliability. That is astounding for a brand new firm, so it shouldn't really be one of the negatives.
One factor , it is very affordable
Tarik El-Yabani Dacia made cars since the 1960s. They just did not export any. And don't forget that Dacia is owned and run by Renault. you build your cars out of outdated Renault parts, where they had years of time to iron out difficulties and you then don't put much equipment inside and no new / modern tech at all, then there should be nothing that could go wrong.
Also there is a general problem with driver satisfaction surveys. A person that buys a cheap car does not expect much and is therefore already happy if the car works just fine. Another problem can be that people tend to "defend" their favourite brands or try to justify their own choice of car by trying to get it high in the ranking. Stupid, but happens...
Tarik El-Yabani Well, it's not really a brand new firm. This is a brand new model, but Dacia exists since the 1960's.
Correct, brand new firm to the UK.
Mine doesn't vibrate or make noise
james may hit the like button 198 times
While it is cheap if you get the top of the range model with options like sat nav parking sensors, manual aircon fog lights it is at the same price if not more expensive than for example an entry level toyota corolla sedan (here is around 13500 euro), which even in the lowest spec has almost every option of the max spec sandero stepway, except the sat nav which isn't that well positioned anyway and the fog lights, but with the corolla you get 9 airbags, hill assist , DRL, a nicer interior and exterior and overall a safer car.
corrected : 7 airbags not 9 on the corolla
Which backwater do they sell the Corolla Sedan in? Surely you mean Auris which in UK is 18,450 EUR is base spec.
Martin Jones
Well I don't know why in uk they don't sell the Corolla or why you get the Auris base model with 18.450 euro but in my country you can get the Toyota Corolla starting 13.600 eur and the Auris starting 14.808 eur both with the 1.33 dual VVTI petrol engine and at the same time the top of the range Sandero Stepway costs around 13.800 euros (roughly the same as UK). Anyway my point is that at the top of the range model you can see that the sandero is not much cheaper when compared to other what other brands offer
ghp0518 I get your point but the base model Polo with 60PS and no air con or side airbags is more expensive than the top of the range Sandero Stepway. It does 0-100kmh in 16 seconds!!! Against that, this is amazing value.
GREAT NEWS!
love my sandero dont really care about about negative opinions if you wont a car to be simple and honest and reliable i would like you to finde one
e
its dirt cheap and i forgive it everything
great car... !!!
wheels as an option?
Instead of testing such similar cars, can't you test cars that are important, but which you haven't tested?
it's made to be cheap to buy and maintain. you don't really need a car that lasts for 30 years. many of them well mantained work fine for 10 years.
It's 6 grand for God sake.
We're not all on your wages Matt
Here in Brazil, this car cost R$62.000,00 (about £16000), uses a old engine and his inners parts its even more cheaper
What apart stupid snob comments,I have a sanders it’s the best car I ever had,it’s never let me down.
He moans at the gear lever being clunky ,what idiot rams the lever backwards and forwards like he did
Obviously not his car. I have a 1.2 and towed a box trailer with three Vespa scooters in it all the way from Portsmouth to Leeds.
Staying at 60mph it still gave me 46 mpg.
Don’t knock this car till you owned and drove one.
Geoff in Leeds
It's a Rover Streetwise!
no cd player ,and no auto boot release on central locking
All jokes aside guys, but would this be a good first car? 😊
I went to have a good luck at one of these stepways for my elderly neighbour as I'm quite knowledgeable on motors and from the outside it looked the business. nice compact design however moving into the cabin and what let down very cheap materials the roof lining is the cheapest I've ever seen like compressed cardboard really thin. I'm no badge snob I drive a Octavia but the Skoda is much better built than the dacia. the switch gear is a lot better seats sound proofing everything. It just didn't do it for me can't see it being very durable long term. It is cheap though and would be a bargain second hand.
we've had a Dacia Logan (even cheaper) for 11 years now and nothing went wrong , durability is great .
the new model is much better and well made i own one
70mpg . Cheap road tax , easy on fuel ⛽️, hill assist , start stop technology. What more could you ask for there €17,000 in Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪.
Exactly
cars like this is great, don't care if scratch it dent it just drive it worry free
unless it's absolute crap keep breaking down then it's not good
its renault engines so probably is not that bad...
rui518
simple as well, not much electronics that can go wrong
Bit of a boring car but great review Mat!!!
GREAT NEWS! THE DACIA SANDERO-
*România la putere*
MUSIC at 1:30 plz
LunnBass Thanks M8 but that's not it ! RASCALL FLATS - life is a highway
Practicality over anything else and affordability.
Buying others is the same as buying an iPhone ,just a snob thing .
just a good cheap car !!!
Well it's better than the duster I suppose
taller to fit james may's hair
why are these so popular. Ive seen so many stepways in the UK recently. i thought the duster would be more popular
Jonathon Churchill i would say the money difference
probably for the looks too ! the duster is just ugly
Self adhesive soundproofing material - enough for whole passenger compartment = £300 (eBay)
lol, Rolly Polly .
Mammamia!
Where!? On the corner!
..., cornering stability a litle,...
"a litle bit roly poly"
i would get the cheap version more gadgets more they can go wrong
is it 4wd
No
Also let’s be honest, it’s own by Renault and while they make some really nice cars, they not going to out class themselves with this sister company
September 2014. coming new Škoda Fabia III , with 5* on N CAP crash test
spam
Which will be more than the current version if the latest Octavia is to go by. VAG are introducing a new 'budget' brand below Skoda / SEAT so expect prices to migrate to VW ones. Therefore will be a lot more than this Sandero.
