The Cult has to be one of the greatest bands of all time; I never tire of listening to them. When I’m feeling down and really ‘pissed off’, a few minutes of Sun King, Fire Woman, or Love Removal Machine at full volume puts me back on an even keel with a smile on my face. I might be an old git at 64 years of age, but these boys make me feel 27 again!
I feel the very same! My parents died recently withing months of each other and the Cult were there for me! Love is my favourite album but Sonic Temple comes a close second! Heck I love all their albums! Love love love Ian's voice and Billy's guitar playing ❤💕
Agreed...Seen them in Des Moines a few months back. Ive been to tons of big name concerts and that was my all time favorite. Phenomenal, flawless performance!!!!
He's not dead you know! They made a blistering and rock heavy comeback with Beyond Good and Evil! Billy and Ian promised it would be heavy and dark and it definitely is all of those things! It is now my first Cult album to play ❤🖤
What a weird time for this band, but a lot of the grunge era bands owe a debt to The Cult, no doubt. And Michael Lee was in incredible drummer, no wonder Page and Plant snatched him up a couple years later. Maybe the most solid lineup of this band, musically. Great band, great performance. An all time favorite! Oh, and Billy Duffy is criminally underrated.
I'm a lifer Cult fan. I saw them in in 85 as Death Cult... I see them when they come to Glasgow . I can highly recommend the new LP.... Hidden City... it's fucking awesome...
This was at findsbury Park in 92 I think and 3rd time seeing this Great band man. Ian was so of his head, he slipped up an fuked up the song and I just thought ooohh boo he can't get it together, but he did and will always remember earth mofo shit that was a good night. Shame we get old an slow down lol. 5 times seen The CULT F E C C F E
When I turn on a newcomer to The Cult, This is the Video I put on, and Turn way up! This was where it all WAS about to end lol...when the lights come up and you see that seemingly endless sea of madness , This was The Cult that made me a member for life ! Blazing Billy Duffy, bending them Strings, Michael Lee pounding, like he thought Page/ Plant were about to come calling, Ian displaying the Front - Man skills what he's really capable of...
no one can give a show like Ian and the Cult. they are awesome!! and the most charismatic band ever. check out the rest of their music. incredible work...
IMHO this is one of the best live performances ever. Whoever was there that day was blessed. The whole band was just incredible, such a perfect and tight lineup. And, may I add, god lived in that freakin' bass.
Real Rock band. Kick ass !. No lip synch, no recorded backing track crap, actual musicians playing rock music kiddies. So sad all thats out there today are fakes and media generated hype.
Ian doesn't have to think he's Jim, he's got his own soul and swing. He's an amazing artist and will always be remembered as one of the greatest front men ever in rock and roll history. googo
THE CULT, still playing today, they have 30 years on tour, every album is different from the other, The Doors only dreamed of a way, these two bands are not comparable is ROCK THE CULT THE DOORS is British and U.S. there are always influences but listen well to THE CULT before comparing a print, Greetings from ARGENTINA
Gotta love The Cult! Great band live, Ian a charismatic performer and Billy Duffy's a brilliant guitarist! Was listening to Radio 2 Rock show and Josh Todd from Buckcherry chose Ian Astbury as his Rock God! And they played this song.
wooooo big it up for the alternative rock scene. late 80's and early 90's were some of the best music. The cult were always a stand-out 80's band cos they were so ahead of their time
Freaking GREAT. The best part? Ian Asbury is so blasted out of his mind, he sings gibberish for the entire first verse. Somewhere, Jim Morrison is tipping his hat.
Just saw them in Cleveland last month...holy shit...didn't miss a beat...missed them all those times I was playing Mommy...was not letting them pass me by this time...rock on forever...
I have to agree, sadly. Seen them 6 times in the last four years, very inconsistent. But we have THIS, one of the great concert performances of a generation. Soundgarden was great, Pearl Jam too, but I think the Cult owned this concert. . . old school!!
it's hard to believe that michael lee is passed away too young. man what a loss for the world of rock. i wacthed him in 1994 and i ve never seen somebody play too loud ass he played in that night god bless you man wherever you are and i just want to say thank you
53 and we must be the same people!!! My band used to play Love Removal Machine (drums here)and inevitably, people ALWAYS said, "What was that one song, Talkin bout Love"? Ha listening now...... Hell yeah
Ian's doing all his usual prattling on and I'm thinking this is going to be pants, then suddenly they pull it all together and drop the hammer - That opening few bars is fucking outrageous. They fucking smashed it.
Went to see the cult 2019 apollo Manchester still blew us away still best band ever they could off done two night the amount off songs in ther catalog x
The cult of bull ! Nobody has ever managed to go so close to the divine primordial energy ! vital energy, knowledge and command in only verb ! God of Rock 🎸
THIS IS CULT! Still amazed watching this live video, so much energy, so much the document of 1992, such a huge sound they had on Pinkpop, Ian fucking singing his heart out, Billy destroying the LesPaul and the Marshalls, no way, and they still have the same credibility in the year MMX, at least for me!
When they first came out with Fire Woman...I told a friend of mine that he reminded me of Morrison. Then in 2000's they recruted him to sing with them! I was so very excited! Great job Ian!
I will love Ian forever 💕 30 years ago I fell in love with this beautiful man while watching the video of Edie, Ciao Baby! Still love him today 2nd of May 2022 ❤💖💕 still beautiful and very sexy!
Funny how some comments call Astbury a poser for wearing flannel and not leather just to fit in with 90's grunge when anyone can easily see them performing (ironically) Sun King on the Jonathan Ross show in 1989 wearing (ironically) both flannel and leather....
I was wearing flannel before Grunge broke. And you know what my friends called me when they saw me wearing flannel? Trixter. Remember them? The singer in their photos was wearing flannel, and that was before Grunge, lol.
tigerslilly29 I know what you mean. I started wearing flannel in 1988. Back then I took my fashion cues from skateboarding culture, which was always ahead of the times.
Hier was ik bij. Na dit liedje werd Smeets weggehoond vanwege afsluiting van PP, m.b.v. the cult en gaf the cult een toegift ....Wat mij betreft de laatste 'rebelse pinkpop' zoals het zou moeten zijn.
God, this is amazing, I go so crazy when I hear the songs of The Cult, this is the most sensual for me, it's like the discharge of life for me, they are a legend💥💥
Ian Astbury doesn't - nay, can't - move like that anymore, sad. The 80's and 90's are long gone now... But The Cult were a huge part of my High School soundtrack, keg parties, pot smokin' gettin with girls, and driving around on Friday night in my 1970 Oldmobile Cutlass.
+klistarf yeah... Such a sad story. I remember watching an interview in which either Duffy or Astbury said after his death, things were quite simply not the same anymore. They had huge problems replacing it, and soon after, though for other reasons, things started going downhill from there.
IAN N BILLY. I'M SO COMPLETE WITHIN ALL YOUR MUSIC FROM THE BEGINNING. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE IS FIREWOMAN. I SAW YOU TOUR WITH DEEP PURPLE, SCORPIONS AND DIO. I PAID 200$ for Ian's tambourine, to the guy next to me, My friend gave me IAN PAICES DRUM STICK. YOU GUYS KNOW AND APPRECIATE YOUR MUSIC FROM THE BEGINNING. IVE PLAYED TEN DRUMS KITS OVER 40 years. I know the beauty and true power of what YOU are. The Cult is my favorite band since the 80s. I'm totally appreciative of all your music. Coolnewell
I seen it In ATL Ga ... they opened with this song came out from back behind the curtains , THEN BOOM your rock show is on ,.dance drink and smoke yea ...
Its a shame Ian Astbury became a bit erratic, The Cult were a brilliant band. Ian Astbury was influenced by various Canadian Native American tribes, and he and Billy Duffy seemed to have their disagreements, but my God the Cult could deliver some truly amazing, out of this world songs!! I am an Iron Maiden fan, and therefore I am true to the metal genre, but Cult are sort of hard core punk melodic rock, and I must confess for me the lines are blurred as to what is better. Both bands are equally brilliant in different ways!! I love them both!!
June 8th, 2012 NYC @ Terminal 5. I can't wait! I've loved these guys since I was an awkward teen. It's been a long time since I've seen these guys live. It's The Cult everyday until then lol... I hope that the hipsters stay home in Williamsburg and leave room for the real fans at the venue.
The Cult has to be one of the greatest bands of all time; I never tire of listening to them. Iam 56 now still love this so much! Makes me feel 17 again when on my tomos moped riding the long road whit a walkman😅😎🔥
Ian Asbury is so good he does not get anywhere near enough credit! He's got one of the best voices in decades!
Completely agree
THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A MORE UNIQUE AND ENTERTAINING FRONTMAN THAN IAN ASTBURY! THE CULT AND THEIR MUSIC ARE TRULY EXTRAORDINARY!❣️
Agreed...Seen them in Des Moines a few months back. Ive been to tons of big name concerts and that was my all time favorite. Phenomenal, flawless performance!!!!
One of the best bands ever talent.
Ian is on fire! He is literally smoking!! What a great performance!!!
OMFG, Eddie Vedder can't hold a candle next to Ian Astbury. Ian was a phenomenal rock god front man in The Cult's heyday.
He's not dead you know! They made a blistering and rock heavy comeback with Beyond Good and Evil! Billy and Ian promised it would be heavy and dark and it definitely is all of those things! It is now my first Cult album to play ❤🖤
Billy Duffy - SUN KING of Guitar!~
Wicked cool! Bravo!
Where's the GRETSCH! =)
The bassist is incredible as a backup vocalist. For as legendary of a front man as Ian is, he must have felt very grateful for such support.
AND KINLEY WOLF ON BASS PURELY MAGICAL.
Michael Lee made anything he touched turn to gold!
I could watch this over and over. And i will.
I'm a lifer Cult fan. I saw them in in 85 as Death Cult... I see them when they come to Glasgow . I can highly recommend the new LP.... Hidden City... it's fucking awesome...

I am 55 years old and love these guys just starting to get into them and just love their sound and music amazing
I’m 64 and I love ‘em too! Hopefully I will still be listening to Sun King on my blue tooth head phones at full volume when I’m 90!
One of the most underrated. Fortunate to have seen them live back in the day. LOVE❤️
When I turn on a newcomer to The Cult, This is the Video I put on, and Turn way up! Ian is channeling his inner Lizard King here....badass performance!
Courtland Sedlachek Morrison wasn't much for proselytizing from the mic, Miami notwithstanding.
Totally! Love it!
Wow one of the cult's best performances damn wish I was there!!
That bassist and the sound he’s getting is awesome!
The guitar playing on this song is insane.
The late, great Michael Lee on drums. Hell yeah.
Aguante The Cult !!!
Los escucho desde hace más de 30 años y seguiré siguiéndolos por el resto de mis días 🙌🙌🙌🙌🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Ian was definitely on freaking fire! !
Look at that smoke coming off of him!!
Truly awesome!! One of the best live performances ever!! Wish I was there!!
He was on something for sure.
Gotta love The Cult! Great band live, Ian a charismatic performer and Billy Duffy's a brilliant guitarist! Was listening to Radio 2 Rock show and Josh Todd from Buckcherry chose Ian Astbury as his Rock God! And they played this song.

My daughter (she's 11) thinks I have lost my fucking mind watching this. I am squealing like I do every time I see this band. This is incredible.
Freaking GREAT. The best part? Ian Asbury is so blasted out of his mind, he sings gibberish for the entire first verse. Somewhere, Jim Morrison is tipping his hat.
I often watch this just for that first three and a half minutes. Great intro!
Yes men I was there, i am 50 years old now but ill never forget.

Love this video! The cult transformed their look from their Ceremony album to grunge. dig it!
Fuckin awesome, they kick ass...
I have to agree, sadly. Seen them 6 times in the last four years, very inconsistent. But we have THIS, one of the great concert performances of a generation. Soundgarden was great, Pearl Jam too, but I think the Cult owned this concert. . . old school!!
Ian was never trying to be Jim (none can be jim!, he just brought his music back for others' to enjoy! And did a great job!! Jim would be proud!!
it's hard to believe that michael lee is passed away too young. man what a loss for the world of rock. i wacthed him in 1994 and i ve never seen somebody play too loud ass he played in that night god bless you man wherever you are and i just want to say thank you
What amazing band and this album is simply amazing👍👍👍👍👍👍

proud to say: I was there! :-)
Mic Wac have you seen any more footage from this show?
I wish I had been there; I love this track......... Billy Duffy is just amazing. Long live The Cult.
The Cult rocks no matter what decade it is
Unreal. Perfect definition of live rock & roll performance, especially toward the end.
I don’t think they are underrated just under appreciated Awsome band Billy is underrated a fantastic guitarist
I agree, and it most likely is a result from being largely misunderstood.
The fact that Iain became lead singer of the fucking Doors sais it all
I always called Ian Captain Cheese, but he's still one of my fav front men. How can anyone not love the Cult?
THIS IS CULT! Still amazed watching this live video, so much energy, so much the document of 1992, such a huge sound they had on Pinkpop, Ian fucking singing his heart out, Billy destroying the LesPaul and the Marshalls, no way, and they still have the same credibility in the year MMX, at least for me!
When they first came out with Fire Woman...I told a friend of mine that he reminded me of Morrison. Then in 2000's they recruted him to sing with them! I was so very excited! Great job Ian!
Billy Duffy's and The Cult's FINEST MOMENT!
Rocks every time I listen to this song. Unbelievable!
Even on his WORST day, Ian can blow to doors off of Nirvana/Kurt "I can't live with the fame" Cobain!
One of the greatest live performances by one of the most underestimated bands.
I just saw them tonight they rocked❤
After every time I watch this video I have to take some time to resolidify my melted off face
LOL! HOT RIGHT. GOTCHA MAN! TRUE.
That's The Cult that i like so full of life the voice, the guitar love it

Funny how some comments call Astbury a poser for wearing flannel and not leather just to fit in with 90's grunge when anyone can easily see them performing (ironically) Sun King on the Jonathan Ross show in 1989 wearing (ironically) both flannel and leather....
I was wearing flannel before Grunge broke. And you know what my friends called me when they saw me wearing flannel? Trixter. Remember them? The singer in their photos was wearing flannel, and that was before Grunge, lol.
Nick Danger should shut the fuck up. It’s about the music not the clothes
Good point.
tigerslilly29 I know what you mean. I started wearing flannel in 1988. Back then I took my fashion cues from skateboarding culture, which was always ahead of the times.
Dell Martens Is that why you dress up in your mama's lingerie when you go out to see The Cult play? :)
Hier was ik bij. Na dit liedje werd Smeets weggehoond vanwege afsluiting van PP, m.b.v. the cult en gaf the cult een toegift ....Wat mij betreft de laatste 'rebelse pinkpop' zoals het zou moeten zijn.
saw the cult 1989/1990 edinburgh, one of the best live rock bands that have been lucky enough to see. Class act, class song!!!
Awesome bass player doing back-up vocals, helped Ian a lot when he was moving around.
Fantastica fantastica...
God, this is amazing, I go so crazy when I hear the songs of The Cult, this is the most sensual for me, it's like the discharge of life for me, they are a legend💥💥
In-Fucking-Credible. PERIOD.....
I carry Visky! INDEED!!!!!!!
That's and Age of Empire reference...lol
I’m 63 years old and I love these MF guys.
Doesn't get much better than this. Still my favorite The Cult jam. Billy Duffy shredded it!
Great band, still love listening to them!
never tire of this performance.
I always loved these guys. Saw them in Chicago back in 1989. WOW! They were opening for Metallica.
I love this band and 'Rain' is probably my fav rock tune of all time - thank you; you guys in the band! Makes me feel like somebody understands me.
He reminds me of Jim Morrison so much in this video. I fucking LOVE it!
+Morris The Cat 24 years ago.....I don't think many in that crowd can rock like that anymore either. But Ian can still sing like it.
I'll be 45 this year & I'm always one of the wildest @ the hard rock & heavy metal concerts I go to. Lol
One of the best live performances ever
I like how they changed over to a "grunge" look.
Ian looks as high as kite and Billy played his ass off.
RIP Michael Lee (drums)... \m/
klistarf wow what of?
***** He died in November 2008, of an epileptic seizure. He was alone, in his flat. Very sad! Great drummer, and a nice bloke...
klistarf ;( very sad....yes..amazing drummer..thxs.
***** No problem! Best wishes... \m/ (:o)
+klistarf yeah... Such a sad story. I remember watching an interview in which either Duffy or Astbury said after his death, things were quite simply not the same anymore. They had huge problems replacing it, and soon after, though for other reasons, things started going downhill from there.
The Cult always kick ass live! That's why they're still around today. That and awesome albums. Hidden City is amazing!!!!!!!
IAN N BILLY. I'M SO COMPLETE WITHIN ALL YOUR MUSIC FROM THE BEGINNING. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE IS FIREWOMAN. I SAW YOU TOUR WITH DEEP PURPLE, SCORPIONS AND DIO. I just love The Cult. This song and ‘Love Removal Machine’ are my favourites. This performance is magic.

one of my favorite songs by the cult.
Yep. All badass performances.
I seen it In ATL Ga ... they opened with this song came out from back behind the curtains , THEN BOOM your rock show is on ,.dance drink and smoke

Astbury and Duffy should be in the rock n roll hall off fame the best band in the world watched them for nearly 40 yrs
Think the "Lizard King" was on the mic that night.
I think you mean "Wolfchild", the Lizard King was a different animal.
