How to Crochet Easy Child Poncho

  • The Crochet Girl's Poncho is a one piece garment that slides over the head of the child. There have been many requests from Crocheters to have the adult size called the Crochet Cool Poncho using Caron Cakes substituted for two reasons:
    Make the neck opening smaller.
    Make the garment one piece instead of two pieces for the adult size.
    This pattern will allow you to get started. Start the same for both Adult and Child. The neck line for us adults will be smaller than the Crochet Cool Poncho. Follow the pattern as suggested and make the poncho as long as you need it to be. Instead of stopping for 16" for the child size, just continue to crochet until your desired length. The Cool Poncho has fringe and you can opt to do fringe for skip it.
    Get hooked up with pattern at: thecrochetcrowd.com/crochet-gi... #crochet #learntocrochet #crochettutorial .
    This video is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. The captioning is also available in multiple languages such as Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. The written pattern is only available in English. . *** .

    Hi Mike, at 7:58, you should've skipped one before doing the three double crochet, not right next single crochet. Otherwise the stitches are off at the end. I followed yours first, I ended up having 3 single crochet at the end after crocheting 5 groups of doubles. So, I did it my way, skipped a single crochet before and after when doing the three clusters double crochets. I ended up having only one stitch to join the first double crochet after a group of 5, which is perfect

      I did a 78 FDC, so I had 9 groups of 3 between the v’s for my tall almost 5 year old and it fits great. I used FDC to give the neck a little bit of stretch so I can just add to the length as she grows, and can hopefully get a couple of years wear out of it.

    I have followed the pattern and on the first round I am coming up with 12 on one side and 13 on the other side counting the points. On round 3 I got 14 and 15. HELP, please.

      No, I found my mistake. It's supposed to be 13 and 13 for a total of 26 on the first round.

      The directions state finished is 16inches but I'm not sure where you measure it, at the points or side.

      I'm not really sure without research and testing trails. It may be better to a different pattern for different stitch counts.

    Hi Mikey. Your instructions are SO GREAT. Easy to follow for me because I am a visual learner. Would this fit my 2 year old Granddaughter? Or will it be to big?

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  Před rokem +1

      I think it will be too big as the model for the child isn't a toddler. You may find another pattern like this that is more for babies and toddlers.

      Due to going around and around, they can appear to be askew. As long as you have the space counts between the points, you are fine. I would dampen it and block it. I use steam to block it. czcams.com/video/Ucz-6BsvZys/video.html
