  • I recently had a bout with an inflamed area of my gums, with extreme pain when I brushed my teeth and flossed that area. I tried standard treatments like swishing diluted hydrogen peroxide around my mouth. It did not help, and only made that area of my gums feel irritated.
    Then I used some common sense and treated the condition naturally. In a matter of just a couple days, the problem improved a LOT and I was able to stop the treatment only after four days. Check it out to see what I did.

      Hi Patricia! I can never make any guarantees, but I truly hope this tactic does help you. Also, it may be helpful if you have a Waterpik or something like that. Such a device helps flush away bad bacteria while the probiotics can continue the job with a little "germ warfare". Thanks for watching and best wishes to you :)

    My functional medicine doctor told me to do this. Also FYI... I was told by a good dentist that over brushing can make things worse. Two times per day is best, after every meal can be too much. Swishing with water after eating/drinking is best.

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  Před 6 měsíci

      @@KJV-Bible-LessonsNow that's a very interesting question! I do not have a recipe on my channel for homemade toothpaste. I have tried using a baking soda paste made from simply baking soda mixed with a little water. You apply it to your toothbrush and brush as usual. For me, it was not the best because apparently at the time, my tooth enamel must have been on the thin side, and the baking soda made my teeth more sensitive. So, I didn't use it for long, although it does clean the teeth very well. I currently use Tom's of Maine, Rapid Relief for Sensitive Teeth, Fluoride Free. Here's a link so you can see what it is... www.amazon.com/Toms-Maine-Natural-Sensitive-Toothpaste/dp/B07F2Q38TL/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=E0OR8B7FU4L8&keywords=toms+of+maine+rapid+relief+sensitive+toothpaste&qid=1700429734&rdc=1&sprefix=toothpaste+toms+of+main%2Caps%2C182&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1 Most drug stores should carry it. I agree, it's not the cheapest stuff, but I'm happy with it.
      Another tip for helping to keep the gums free of infections...use hydrogen peroxide (the cheap stuff you find in pharmacies). I apply some to my toothbrush and also WaterPik mouthpiece when I'm FINISHED brushing my teeth. That helps to sanitize the toothbrush so bacteria won't thrive on it until the next time the brush is used. Right before I use the toothbrush again, (as long as I remember to do this) I rinse it briefly with fresh water. I found that if I don't regularly rinse it off, my mouth will feel "too clean" afterwards. I interpret this to mean that the peroxide residue kills some of the good bacteria in my mouth, possibly throwing off the natural balance of microbes. Forgetting to rinse the brush once in a while isn't the end of the world. I just try to remember to do it the best I can. I truly hope this helps! Best wishes to you and yours :)

      @@juliachu3775 Hi Julia! Yes, I actually DO know of a home protocol you can do that can help with sinus infections. I know this from personal experience with my husband. He has had countless sinus infections in his life, all being treated with countless antibiotics, only to have it return, sometimes one round right after another. With this protocol, his infections have slowed WAY down to only one here and there. He has major damage inside his sinus cavities with many surgeries. Because of that, we may never have the infections totally eliminated, but believe me, they have been cut waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down! The protocol is not simple, takes effort and time. It involves omitting the specific foods that the streptococcus bacteria feed on (eggs, all dairy products, gluten, pork, soft drinks, and corn), while including lots of foods that are known to kill pathogens (fruits, leafy greens, vegetables, garlic, onions, potatoes, and sweet potatoes). It also involves drinking 32 ounces (4 cups) of celery juice daily (usually 2 cups in the morning and 2 cups in the afternoon). There are many specifics involved with the celery juice and if it's mixed with anything else or taken around food or other liquids, its medicinal effect will be negated. This information comes from Anthony William's book "Cleanse to Heal." It's available on Amazon and many libraries have the book so you can borrow it for free, if desired. Here's a link... www.amazon.com/Medical-Medium-Cleanse-Heal-Depression/dp/1401958451 I HIGHLY suggest you get the book and read through it. You will be enlightened. His protocols work. I can say that from personal experience, both with myself AND with my husband's experience. Millions around the world have used his books to help themselves heal their chronic problems and I highly recommend his books. They are well worth reading! I truly hope this helps. Blessings to you and yours :) [Note that I have NO affiliation with the author, nor with Amazon regarding these products, so if you opt to buy this book, I do not gain any monetary rewards from it. I recommend his books because I truly believe in them. AND with my educational background (MS in Nutrition), his protocols make sense to me.]

    So I have gum recession, had some cavities filled (recently) and a few cavities filled a few years ago, had red and purple and swollen gums, brown and yellow spots in some parts of my teeth, I get plaque built up in parts of my teeth even if I brush my teeth and some other issues. No doctor has told me anything that I have periodontal disease but I am certain I do based on all the issues I mentioned above. I want to get rid of the issues (and if I have any oral disease) gone forever and my oral health issues removed and my oral health cured/restored/healed. Are you still taking the probiotics and how exactly has it helped you more if at all since you have been taking it/them?

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  Před rokem +1

      Hi NicholasPeters! Thank you for watching and asking your question. My heart goes out to you with the multiple issues you are faced with. I only took the probiotics temporarily to help resolve the gum issues I experienced at the time. Since I used them early on (when the gum issues first got started), it only took a few days to resolve the problems (tender, red, slightly swollen gums around teeth). Once the problems were resolved, I stopped doing the probiotic rinse in my mouth. I repeated the process any time I detected some gum issues coming on. It was not a regular routine, but used only as needed.
      Honestly, I have not needed to do the rinse in a very long time. I cannot say exactly why for certain, but I can surely speculate. Whether my tactics will help you or not, I can't say. Here's what I'm doing now and you can compare what you do with my routine. Maybe a few changes on your part would help, but again I'm not a dentist, so I can't guarantee anything.
      (1) I purchased a WaterPik and I use it twice a day (after breakfast and after supper) before brushing my teeth. It has really helped to keep my mouth clean. IF I ever notice any gum issues starting to crop up, I focus on those spots in particular when using the WaterPik. The sensitive spots are usually cleared up within a day or two. I have used the WaterPik for years now and it has helped tremendously in keeping my teeth clean and reducing any gum issues.
      (2) I always (without fail) brush my teeth after every meal. After lunch, after brushing my teeth, I string-floss my teeth. No WaterPik at lunch (I found that 3 times a day was just too much for me and my gums were getting a little "beat up" by the process. I will use string floss after using the WaterPik IF (and only IF) I feel like I need to...if I detect some food may be still stuck between my teeth.
      (3) I'm VERY careful about what I eat. I eat a whole food plant based diet with absolutely no junk food (or beverages) whatsoever. I know that may sound boring (and like "duh") but I've grown to appreciate just how valuable such a diet is for our overall health, including the health of our teeth and gums. My husband and I both eat that way and it has worked wonders for his health too. Neither of us is willing to turn that around.
      I'll be happy to give you dietary details about what we do, if you want. It may be too much for this response. Anyway, I do hope that sharing the above details helps you in some way. Best wishes to you in your endeavors, and I truly hope you can find the answer. Let me know if I can help more :)

      @@JudiintheKitchen Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. The Waterpik device - I've seen it a few times and displayed at different dental offices. You know how when getting teeth cleaned and the hygienist will use a strong type of water spray inside the mouth when doing the teeth cleaning? From what I know it's attached to a part of the chair or somehow electronic but it gives a sort of strong spray (just the right amount of pressure for water spraying in my opinion). Does the Waterpik device give a strong continuous spray? I have a Waterpik device and I hate with a passion the intermittent weak spraying/sprays it and other ones give from the devices and I really really want/need a stronger one like the one I mentioned that I know is at a dentist office. I forgot to ask my hygeniest about it (and if is a way to purchase one of them - for home use or whatever). If I could get any of those teeth cleaning devices that I am looking for I would use it for myself when cleaning my teeth. If you don't know of the device I am looking for or where I can it, I will hopefully remember to ask my dentist and or hygeniest for how and or where to purchase it next time I see them (assuming I can purchase one for myself).

      @@NicholasPeters1 Hmmm. The WaterPik that I have has two buttons you can use for the water flow. The top button is the "floss" option where the water is a steady stream. The bottom button is the "massage" option where the water flow will pulse (I don't care for that option either). It sounds like you are using the "massage" option...IF yours actually has two buttons (I really don't know). Also, the strength of the water flow can be regulated by a dial on the machine, from 1 to 10, with 1 being the weakest stream, and 10 being very strong. Since you like the dentist's water device, the "10" strength may be what you're looking for. Check your WaterPik again to see if it has the various options. Personally, I found the full strength of the stream (10 setting) to be too strong for me...it was beating up my gums. However, it may be just right for you. I'm sure the dentist uses some sort of professional grade machine. If you're wanting one of those, you'll need to ask your dentist about where you could get such a machine. I feel certain it would be expensive (being a professional grade machine for dentists). However, I suggest you start by checking out the device you already have to be sure if it has different features that you're not using. That may resolve the problem right there. If not, well I guess it's time to shop. I hope this helps! Best wishes to you on this. I hope you can find the answer that is right for you!

    Judi what about the bone under the gum is that any good for it as well

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  Před 3 lety +12

      Hi Dwight! Thanks for watching and asking. Actually, I can't say that the probiotics would or would not help the underlying bone. Maybe...if the bad bacteria has gone down into that area from around the gums hugging the teeth. However, I have no way to verify that, so don't take that to be a fact. It's just speculation. If you have underlying bone issues, anything is worth a try.
      I CAN say this as a fact...this is a true story and I'm speaking from first-hand experience because it's MY story. Juicing green veggies (mostly kale with some carrots) literally saved my teeth. I can't say exactly why, but I speculate (through a lot of research) that the vitamin K in the green juice (mostly from the kale) helped to direct the calcium (also from the kale) to go where it needed to go...my bones. Here's the scoop...For about a year and a half, I noticed issues with a particular molar hurting when I ate. Each time I had my teeth cleaned (every 6 months), I told the hygienist the tooth was bothering me. That was the end of it, for 3 visits in a row. Apparently the hygienist didn't notice anything wrong, nor did the dentist when he checked my mouth. On the next visit to see the dentist for something else, I stopped him and insisted that he look at the tooth because it was still bothering me. He finally did and noticed it was extremely loose. Then, upon checking the rest of my mouth, we discovered that all my teeth were loose. The dentist suggested all sorts of treatments that I really did not want to do. [This story is condensed a bit, but important details are there.]
      Coincidentally, about that time I bought a juicer and started drinking some kale/carrot juice daily (probably about 1/2 cup a day for starters). I eat a large green salad with lots of added veggies (like carrots) as a meal every day. About this time (when the dentist finally found what my tooth issue was) I noticed that it was really getting very hard to chew my salads...even lettuce...because of my wobbly teeth. THEN, after drinking the juice for a couple weeks, and without doing anything special to my teeth, I noticed that lettuce was getting easier to chew and I was starting to eat my salads easier without concern with my teeth and pain from them moving around when I attempted to chew something like a piece of carrot.
      THEN, after a month of drinking green juice, I noticed that my teeth were nowhere near as wobbly in my mouth as before and that I could chew my salads with ease. So..I can literally say that my green juice has saved my teeth. I've been drinking some green juice every day ever since (it's been about 2-1/2 years now), and I still have all my teeth. I never went through all the intensive procedures the dentist recommended. I can pop a whole baby carrot in my mouth and chew it without issue. My teeth are not loose any more. I can only speculate as to why (as I stated earlier). Nevertheless, it worked for me. I'm not sure what your mouth problem is, but I hope my story will help you in some way. Really! Best wishes to you and yours :)

      Hi Marty! Thanks for watching and commenting! My gums couldn't be better. In fact I just had my teeth cleaned a couple days ago and the dentist commented about how great my mouth looked. This method is one of my tactics for keeping things in check. I do the probiotic thing any time I have the least bit of a flare-up, which isn't very often now. Take care and try this anytime you have the least bit of redden/sensitive gums. It will help :)

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  Před 4 lety

      @NY UK Hi NY UK! It sounds like you have a serious infection going on. No, I have never had one that bad. The probiotic trick worked for a localized gum infection around a couple teeth and also when the microbe balance got way off in my mouth (from using too much hydrogen peroxide for too long). Yours is way more serious than that and probably needs medical attention. That having been said...I understand where you're coming from regarding dentists. When I was young (elementary school), my parents sent me to a barbaric dentist who filled my cavities WITHOUT anesthesia of any type. Nothing. In fact, I never heard of Novocaine until a friend of mine said she had been to the dentist and her mouth was numb. I was like..."Huh? What do you mean? Why is is numb?....Novocaine? What's THAT?" So...I DO understand about fear of dentists. At some point (early adulthood), I put on my "big girl pants" and went in anyway. Normal dentists now don't do such things. I explain to them about my background and tell them I have a "sensitive" mouth. They put topical numbing solution wherever needed before any injections and even when cleaning my teeth. There's as little pain as possible. I have been having my teeth professionally cleaned and examined every six months for many years now. It's far from my favorite activity, but I do it anyway.
      Now onward...The expense thing is also very understood. I'm not a doctor, nor do I pretend to be one, so what I say is only my personal opinion. This advice may be helpful, but I cannot guarantee it. You could try using a diluted hydrogen peroxide solution as a mouthwash 2, maybe 3 times a day for starters. That stuff will kill germs, but also the good bacteria too, so it's something to do temporarily, but not for an extended period of time. Brush and floss every time you eat. A water flosser is gentle and very effective, but in your case may be needed along with string flossing to help get things under control. If/when you get these infected areas to die off, THEN the probiotic trick may be good to do, so you can restore a healthy balance of microbes in your mouth. But continue to brush/floss every time you eat. If all that doesn't do it, a professional cleaning is very likely needed and may do wonders for your problem. Yes it costs, but so does having all your teeth pulled out and getting dentures. No one wants that! I'm sorry you're having these issues and I wish I could help more. Best wishes to you for sure... Judi

I have been going to the dentist for regular check ups. Had all my black filling replaced by white, had some crowns done. Then after all that work had ear pain for over 1 yr. Finally found out it was due to 1 of the teeth they worked on. The nerve died thus now needed a root canal. It was so bad they had to do it in 2 appts. Second appt next wk. I never wanted a root canal but had not choice, that or pull it. I just want my life back! I've spent way more money on trying to treat my ear. So lesson learned, after this I'll never miss my 6 month cleaning. Hope you are now well.

I JUST discovered your message. I certainly hope by now that you are feeling better and that all is well with your ear AND tooth. Such problems can really cause issues, money, pain and agony...you name it! I too experienced dental trauma as a child, so I really understand that one. I cringe at going to the dentist, but I do it anyway. I "put on my 'big girl pants' and do it" despite the fact that would rather not. Personally, my gums are doing very well. I've been using a water flosser now for quite some time and it has made a world of difference for me. I use it after breakfast AND supper. I string floss after lunch and other times if I feel the need. Any time at all that I feel any gum issue coming on, I hit that area very well with the water flosser. It's made a world of difference for me. Whenever I go to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned, they hardly have anything to do (the dentist and hygienist have both made that same comment!). I hope you're doing much better now. Best wishes to you and yours :)

      Hi! Whenever I need to do this, I do it at least twice a day. Maybe three times a day if the issue is bad or comes on fast. Then you can taper down from there. You be the judge based on the infection in your mouth...if it's bad, do it more often and for more days. If it's minor, the times per day and number of days can be shorter. The main point is to introduce a little "germ warfare" in your mouth to reduce the number of bad bacteria in your mouth that caused the infection. The healthful bacteria (in the probiotics) will do that job for you. We just have to give them a little time. Thanks for watching and asking! I hope this helps :)

      Hi Kane, Thank you for contacting me about this. I'm sorry I don't have captioning on my videos. On many of my videos I refer to my blog site where what I discuss can be read about in an article. However, this topic did not include a blog post. So, the gist of what I discussed is using probiotic capsules to restore the balance of microbes in the mouth. I used this tactic when my gums were red, inflammed and sore. It worked for me. Simply take a probiotic capsule and open it so the contents spill into your mouth. Swish it around the best you can and allow yourself to swallow as needed. I did not rinse and spit it out. I swallowed. After all, they are intended for the GI tract and the mouth is part of that tract. You can drink a little water if needed, since it may tend to make your mouth feel dry. But swallow, don't spit it out. I did my best to leave as much in my mouth as long as I could, hoping to create a little "germ warfare" within. When my mouth was at its worst, I did this about 3 times a day. As the mouth improved, I gradually decreased the number of times a day and eventually stopped. I can't say how long this takes because it will depend upon your personal situation...just how inflammed your gums are. It didn't take me long to notice improvement (within a few days). There is no harm in taking these capsules this way, so you don't need to fear doing this. I focused on capsules that had a variety of Lactobacillus... and Bifido... microbes in them. I have no particular brand to recommend...it's the contents that matters, so read the label. The more potent the capsule, the faster it should work. Again, no specific recommendations. Again Kane, I'm sorry the video couldn't help you. But I truly appreciate your contacting me so I can help you in this way. Don't hesitate to let me know if I can help you further. Blessings to you and yours :)

Whether you swallow it or spit it out will be up to you (I swallowed mine). Do this as often as you care to do it. Hopefully it would help, but it may not be enough with such a deep and extensive infection. I really can't say for sure. The gum inflammation I used it on was minor compared to what you have. Whenever I shop for a probiotic, I select one that fits within my budget at the time and I look at the label and select one that has a high count to it, and also a variety of strains including some with Lactobacillus, and Bifido... This is not medical advice, just sharing my experience. Fastest Relief for abcess was to swish with coconut oil, organic (Search for Raw, Organic Coconut Oil). 20 minutes min. 2x a day. Saw significant relief within an hr. Completely gone in 36 hrs. Also brushing tongue thoroughly, BEFORE & AFTER oil pulling, back to front, getting the sides good too, with a soft toothbrush, SUPER GENTLY is critical. Flex your tongue and contract your abs to keep from gagging & get back as far as you can (again very gently). Brush the tongue until the nose runs (eyes may run too) & you have to blow. Be sure to clear it thoroughly, then return to finish up. This is how you know when your tongue is thoroughly clean (if you definitely brushed gently & it took time to get to the running. If aggressive, you may get a false positive). Brushing this way also helps to clear & keep the sinuses clear.
      Be sure to clean your toothbrush thoroughly & disinfect between cleanings. Also flossing (Gently), but thoroughly is critical for maintenance.
      Once you're done, complete your process by swishing for at least 3 minutes with warm salt water. This will help to reduce/kill remaining bacteria (bad only, salt is smart). It will also help with gum tightening.
      Full Spectrum Salt is best. All Salt comes from the sea even your stripped down to two mineral (NaCl) standard table. Don't be fooled by marketing gimmicks. Use one that is 84+ minerals.
      *Update:* Why Coconut Oil? I did both Coconut Oil & Sesame Oil (Not toasted) & videoed my gums. Blood movement visible ON CAMERA under gum line as well as pulsing I could actually feel with the Coconut Oil, but not with Seasame. I Immediately Went back to CO & blood flow & pulsing returned again. There is definitely a difference. Pus by the second pull. Gums normal by the 3rd, but I continued for 3 full days just to be sure.
      S/N: I believe Sesame attacks different types of strains of pathogens than coconut. From a maintenance perspective may be worth alternating. Just be sure to brush & rinse well, as Sesame is said to stain depending on your tooth health. Strength of AND presence/absence of enamel matters with quality staining can occur.
      20 mins of pulling is essential because it's that length of time mechanical action that tells the brain to flood the mouth with healing enzymes (WBC's). These enzymes coupled with the oil's properties (antimicrobial, antibacterial, antifungal, antihelmintic) helps the gums to purge/expel infection & other pathogens more effectively & restore/heal the gums.

    • @JudiintheKitchen

      Hi Eoin! If you're referring to receding gums, I don't think this would help them to grow back to their original shape. If you're referring to gums that are inflamed from current infection, for me, it helped correct that problem by helping to balance the bacterial population in my mouth, so yes to this. That's why I released the video...because it helped me so much that I felt a need to share it with others. If your gums have been otherwise injured in some other way, I don't think this will do the trick. In my experience, this helps with inflammation, redness, and swelling of gums due to harmful bacterial overload. It would not take the place of surgery for other types of issues. I hope this helps! @@eoinbrennan3949 Hi again! I recently visited my dentist and we briefly discussed receding gums (which I have had for many years). She said the dental industry recently learned they are due to bone loss underlying the gums. Not due to brushing too hard or something like that, which we have all been told for years. So, they are learning new things. Anyway, with that, it's unlikely the gums will grow back unless for some reason, the bone underlying regrows. I'm not sure if that can happen. HOWEVER, I have seen some accounts where some people's gums did grow back. Why/how that can happen with some people and not others remains a mystery to me and many others. I can only speculate. Dentists swear the gums cannot grow back. Mine have not. Yet, at the same time, my husband has commented a couple times that he thinks his receded gums have grown back a little. So, with all that, I can't say what is happening or why. I have not opted for surgery to repair the gums, and I doubt that I ever would. I just deal with it by using an ultra soft toothbrush and in more recent years I also started using a Waterpik twice a day, and string floss once a day (one type of flossing after each meal). I have literally no inflammation in my mouth (a surprise to my new dentist a few weeks ago...first visit after our move to another state). Oh another thing that I recently found has helped with the sensitivity...I gave up ingesting vinegar about 10 months ago. Not easy for this ole Italian to do, but I did. When I went to the dentist recently, I was able to have my teeth cleaned without any numbing treatment whatsoever. That was a FIRST time in way too many years to count. REALLY! Vinegar removes minerals from teeth...just like it removes mineral deposits from pots and pans. So, it MAY help you to avoid ingesting any type of vinegar if you possibly can. It won't work overnight, but over time, it may help to strengthen your teeth (not regrow gums) so they will be less sensitive (if they are, in fact, sensitive like mine were). I hope this all helps! Sorry I'm so wordy, but I have a lot to share with others. Best wishes to you :)

      @@diefrage1453 Oh my! So sorry to hear your teeth are about to come out. NOT good at all. AND this is no "hassle" at all to me. It's my purpose to help others ANY way I can. Now...I have a question for you. Are your teeth loose from receding gums alone? Or are they loose for other reasons? I HAVE to ask this because I have a personal story to share and a remedy that saved my teeth. And I've actually recorded a video all about this, but it's not due to be released until April 22nd. Mark your calendar so you can watch it on that date. It MIGHT help you. Here's a short version...I had a problem with one tooth bothering me for quite some time. It hurt whenever I chewed anything. I got no help from my dentist. After fussing with it for about 2 years (with dental visits every 6 months), I finally learned that not only was that one tooth very loose, but ALL my teeth were loose. (They all got progressively more and more loose during that 2 year period.) It got to the point where I could hardly chew lettuce. Literally! For the record, I do have receded gums, but they have been at this same degree of recession for many years, so the looseness was not from the recession. About that same time, my husband and I decided we would start drinking kale/carrot juice daily as a supplement. Not a meal replacement. I bought a slow juicer and started juicing. The ratio: 1 pound of carrots to 1 bunch of store-bought kale. I usually threw one apple in the mix for a little sweetness. I started out drinking about 4 ounces of juice a day, and progressively worked up to 12 ounces (yes, it was a lot of kale and carrots for the two of us). Here's the BIG THING...after juicing for about one month, I started to notice that it was getting easier to chew my daily salads. I didn't have to be quite so careful when I chewed lettuce, and especially other vegetables. In time, my teeth became more secured in their sockets and eventually they were not loose any more and I could easily chew anything. I can't say exactly how long it was before I got to that point, but I remember it was one month into the juicing before I noticed any difference. By two months time, there was a BIG difference in the stability of my teeth. Ever since that time, I have had no issues with my teeth...they are stable and not loose at all. I continued to drink the kale/carrot juice every day for years, up until we made the move about 1-1/2 years ago. Now, I drink it occasionally. Note that this was FRESH juice, not powdered kale or powdered carrot mixed in water. It was made from fresh vegetables. Today, occasionally I drink the same freshly made juice, but I also drink some made from the powdered vegetables (only kale and carrots, not a mixture of other things). I cannot say that the powdered vegetable juices would have the same effect. In fact, I really doubt that it would. So...I TRULY hope my story helps you in some special way. Yes, lack of Vitamin C CAN cause teeth to get loose (early stages of scurvy...the vitamin C deficiency disease). If the vitamin C does the trick, then GREAT! However, MAYBE the juicing could also help. It involves quite an investment of money and time. I cannot guarantee it would help you. But it's something to consider! Keep in touch. Blessings to you and yours :)

    Can probiotics reverse infection in teeth ?

    • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Rich! Since I have not tried that, nor researched that specific question, I really can't say for sure. If the tooth infection is deep inside the tooth (such as when that happens with a root canal), I can only speculate that it would not help. The topical probiotics probably won't be able to get deep inside the tooth to do any good. And if they do, I assume there wouldn't be enough to make much of a difference. I expect that antibiotics would be the normal route of treating a tooth infection. It's probably best to visit with your dentist to treat a tooth infection. @@JudiintheKitchen I would not get a root canal because there are ways to cure the abscess without killing the tooth. In fact, I was diagnosed with a tooth abscess a few months ago but chose not to go the root canal route. Instead, I achieved quick pain relief using a combination of topical antibacterials and DMSO (a penetrating agent) and have drained a lot pus out of it over time. Still, a small, persistent bulge is visible above the tooth so the last couple days I've started taking a high quality probiotic and I'm hopeful that it will knock out the last remnant of the infection.

      Hi! Thanks for watching and asking. When the problem was at its worst, I swished the capsule contents around my mouth 3 times a day. As the problem subsided, I gradually decreased to 2, then 1, then none. I have no precise recommendation here. It's a matter of how often you want to do it, based on how bad your gums are at the time. No harm in doing it more often. And it didn't take long to correct the problem for me. Only a matter of 3 to 5 days. Less than a week every time. I hope this helps! Best wishes to you :)

      Hi! I'm honored that you think of me as a grandmother :) If you have suffered from bleeding gums for so long, I cannot guarantee this, but it's possible you are short on Vitamin C. Try increasing your intake of Vitamin C-rich foods and/or take a Vitamin C supplement. No specific recommendations on quantity, but up to a gram (1000 mg) of Vitamin C in a supplement may help. There are many foods high in Vitamin C: citrus fruits, strawberries, peppers (bell and chili peppers), guavas, kiwi fruit, broccoli, papayas, tomatoes, kale, and many more. I hope this helps! • @JudiintheKitchen
      @JudiintheKitchen  Před rokem +8

      Hi Jackie! I'm not a doctor, nor do I pretend to be. I can just relay info based on my training and experience. A number of things can cause bad gums. You could try swishing with the probiotics, like I did. You may also need more vitamin C. Low vitamin C can lead to scurvy, which also contributes to bad gums. Investing in a WaterPik may help because the force of the water helps to flush out bacteria and food particles around the teeth and gums. If nothing else, visit with your dentist to get a professional opinion on what to do for your situation. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching. Take care :)

      @@marjn1030 Hello! That's an excellent question! I addressed the problems with my gums early on, when I first noticed redness and soreness. So with that being said, because it was early in the infection process, I saw no need to visit a dentist over it. I could tell myself that my gums had some inflammation and infection. I could also tell that the probiotic swishing helped tremendously because in a short amount of time, the redness and inflammation were gone and didn't return. I had no reason to visit a dentist because I tackled the problem myself before it got too bad. IF you have serious gum issues, visiting a dentist would be a wise thing to do. But I would do that in addition to taking some home remedies at the same time...changing my toothbrush, swishing with probiotics, using a WaterPik flosser (or something like that), and brushing and flossing regularly (every time you eat). I have also found that it's helpful to place a few drops of hydrogen peroxide on my toothbrush AFTER I use it and rinse it. THEN I apply the peroxide and leave it on there until I use the brush again. That kills any bacteria that is lingering on the toothbrush, so the mouth is not reinfected when it's used again. I hope this helps!! Best wishes to you :)

      I have used a number of brands of probiotics, so it would be hard for me to pinpoint the exact brand I used at the time of the video. However, when shopping for a probiotic, I always look for one that has a variety of "Bifido..." and "Lactobacillus..." strains in it. Choose whichever one fits within your budget. It's a capsule/supplement with healthy bacteria in it...The type of bacteria that we need in our GI tract to help keep us healthy. Many of us have altered gut bacteria because of medications and unhealthy foods, and that leads to health issues.
