How to exploit the MiG-19s incredible strengths (1v7)

- There will always be the issue of all aspect missiles. You need to take special care when around carriers of those missiles. However, the MiG-19 is a 10.3 aircraft sitting at 9.3 solely because of the missile issue. Barring those missiles, you can abuse its strengths spectacularly.

Somebody make a comment about how this couldn't be 10.3 because it can't hold a candle to the F5C. (Obviously, with no flares this can't actually be 10.3 that's why its not). They deleted the comment, maybe after watching me dogfight an F5C in this video, but it's a relatively valid point. The F5C is absolutely one of your worst enemies because it is a very strong plane AT 10.3. However, The F5C missiles are simple to dodge and you DO have advantages against it. A rate fight will result in your death, but you will out-energy an F5C in the vertical and the slower you get the greater this advantage will become (Hence the F5C in this video trying to escape after we get to low speeds).
I encounter F5Cs regularly with my mig 23 and they even at that tier hold their own, not that well of course but regardless. Well played man beautiful video!
the problem is that the f-5c is more suited for clustered battles because it's much more responsive than MiG19 thus easier to handle (and also easier to energy trap) but MiG19 has too much performance for 9.3 and too little resources to survive at 10.3 where it's performance matches the competence. If Gaijin decided that the Swift F7 has guns (it doesn't irl) and MiG21 SMT has flares (it didn't irl) then gaijin should give MiG19S and PT beam riding missiles (they did have them irl) as well as a flare pod (Pakistani Mig19 with Aim9Ps and flare blisters on wing roots). MiG19 with flares and good missiles at 10.3 would be extremely enjoyable.
also you out rate both F-5C and E. you In fact have to go for a flat rate because the f-5c will have more nose authority than you at slow speed, so better bleed it's speed forcing it to lag when flat than risking facing a skilled player that baits you into a scissor when you are trying to loop vertically.

@@kingghidorah8106 I certainly don't get games like this often but was super proud of it, thanks man. Basically agree with what you said about the F5. There are reasons the MiG-19 isn't actually 10.3 of course. It's just inaccurate to say there's *nothing* you can do against an F5.
@@studido i think I didn't say _theres nothing you can do against F-5_ in fact I added the point that you actually out rate both models. Everytime I play I 1v1 MiG19 vs F-5E against Two of the best Tiger E duelists and handle their ass until I get slower than 780 IAS.
The MiG-19 has absolutely insane performance for its time period. 0.85 TWR in 1955.

Absolutely love this plane, one of my personal favorites. Moving on to the MiG 21 from this was quite the challenge because they are very different in the playstyle. Well Played :).
Yeah, totally different playstyle! The MiG21-SMT is wonderful to fly in a different way though, really enjoyed using it grinding for the 29

Mig19 is my all time best plane, I used to upriver it 11.7 when the f14 came out almost aced against them, and did the same when they added the f16. Absolutely godly if you can get rocket flares timed right.
That was awesome! Mig-19 is one of the most underestimated planes at its tier, always great to see its energy retention being used to its full potential
And now look at chinese Q-5 which is the same plane (for the most part) but with flares and at 9.0.
Guns are not as good as soviet 30mms but it doesn't really matter when you have so many advantages over your potential opponents.

@@gamermiles20 Yeah Q5 is the strike variant but it gets 2 23 mm guns instead of the NR30s.
Same with the A-5C. Feels kinda broken at its BR, especially against F-5Cs. Vertical fights are bonkers with that thing, it barely loses energy. Obviously the only real threat to the A-5C is the MiG-19
@@skytron22 I mean yeah it's real bonkers. Getting MiG-19 with flares and Magics at such low br is almost a crime.
And even MiG-19 looses to you if he makes a single mistake just because you can shove 35G missile in his bun.
You get balanced by playing in the same team with soviets though. And if there is F-5E in the area then he will just eat you in a couple of turns.
But yep it really is one of the best planes at this br bracket.

The F100, unfortunately, is a massive struggle bus. Not your fault and doesn't stand a chance against either of those haha
Very impressive! When I was doing the MiG 15 grind I had a blast, since you were totally untouchable by many planes, and working together with another MiG or two to energy drain Sabres was a dream. Sadly they added the Yak-38 and the Harrier right around the time I was finishing up and they felt almost unplayable afterwards, so I never got much enjoyment out of the MiG 19. A real shame considering the 19 is such a beautiful machine.

visually, one of my favorite aircraft. in game it is extremely underrated due to the lack of flares and underwing armaments. it's a dogfighter, plain and simple.
I play the MiG 19 S. Doesn’t get missiles. I take 2 rocket pods as flares. Works wonders

I was able to win a 1v7 in the mig 29 and that felf amazing so winning in the 19 has to be the best feeling in war thunder
I have the Chinese J-6A, and it was a blast playing it, especially since it gets APHE rounds that generally one-shot everything. I usually climb up high (since usually there are only MiG-21s and F-104s up there, and both are relatively simple to avoid unless you face R-60s) so I can pick and choose my fights better (especially for avoiding A-10s or Su-25s). Dropped a 6-kill game with it once, and basically researched the J-7E with just the J-6A.

A5C is more like 9.3 (9.0 actually) frame dragged to 10.3, also i think Q5 family have a little difference in wing model, thus make it perform worse compared to pure mig 19 frame

Yeah, A5C gets dragged up to 10.3 because of the flares and magics. Bit different than the MiG-19 in terms of performance.

The german Mig-19S is my favourite out of the mig19s. Marginally better power to weight and THREE NR-30s makes it absolutely fucking lethal.
What boggles my mind most, is how ineffective that F5C was. That he didn't flare that missile, that he had apparently shot all his missiles in that furball (even if the 9E is very easy to dodge and by far the most useless missile at 10.3...)
Congrats and very well managed regardless; going 1V7 is a pretty amazing feat under any circumstance, but in an uptier it's ridiculous.
MiG19 is one of those planes that you just have to respect when you face it, even when it's a full BR underneath you.

when you cant spot an enemy in the area, try to lock him on your radar ! Also the main threat to the MiG 19 isn't a 10.3, it's the 9.3 Ayit with 2 Aim9D and 2 shafirs. The Ayit is extremely nimble with a great acceleration. You can't escape the Aim 9D on a upward spiral, the Ayit just needs to point its nose at you even beyond 4km and that's it. Bit unfair.
A-10, A-6E, and Su-25 do the same thing too. The Su-25 at least has to close more distance though.

Hey great video! Also, what is your opinion on the German Mig 19? I have it but don’t like to use it because of the lack of missiles and fighting all aspect 30g missiles. (oh and the repair cost)
I personally find the missiles super useful. Get plenty of kills and can use them to flare front aspect missiles.

Im struggling with MiG-19 cause when I do try to do this they toss me a rear aspect missile while im climbing and I cant dodge it (or get third partied)
What a lot of people dont know is the mig19 is faster and has better energy retention than the phantoms F4Cs and can donk on those F5Cs

Every night before i go to bed, I pray to RnJesus and the snail, thanking them for giving me the talisman on my german mig 19. it doesnt have the missles like the russian one but it gets a third gun and it still holds its own against anything you throw at it.
Does any other airframe even have energy retention the way this thing does?
Nice flying, good trigger control, you knew which targets to pick and when you had to break off the spiral and let your performance do the work at high altitude.
The last 3 could have easily won it if they weren't all greedy enough to go into the spiral with you, 1 going and breaking off with enough speed to evade while trying to keep you close enough to get you off the others while they climbed would have ruined your day, especially if one of the other 2 helped cover the one chasing you. But they all perfectly played into the mig-19's strength instead :p.

Repair costs are not a problem to me, because I earn a lot too. At my top, I had over 600 million Silver Lions.
Those T-2's could have been a real problem if they coordinated and flew their aircraft properly. T-2 may not have the greatest dogfight performance, but it has the AOA and thrust to stick on your ass for a few turns. If one did that while the other kept some speed and re-positioned, that could have been a very short fight. Aside from that, the Mig-19 is definitely a total powerhouse even in an uptier. I've had plenty of scenarios similar to this one where I was just dancing around 3-4 people at once picking them off one by one as opportunity allowed. Terrifying plane if flown right

Yes. It's strong. When I play F8E, I love mig19 go for an energy trap. Yes. I know I don't have enough energy to follow. But I also know you will at low speed at top. You don't have flare or chaff. My 18g aim9d will happly hit you at top with no problem.
Play some mig 19 and you will understand that you will get no respect for what you just said :)
the mig 19 is great, if you would actually play at 9.3 with it. even if you dont get upteired you have a yak 38 with 4 r60s against you.
